We have almost no hands on experience. More than half the time we're just sitting in a quiet classroom doing online assignments, a lot of which is stuff we won't ever run into in the field, and when we do any labs it's on some random students car, and the rest of our 15-16 student class just watches them figure out other issues and nothing is accomplished. The most experience I've had doing anything remotely helpful was our engines class, and our electronics class. The rest of the four so far have been so minimal. In our list of assignments we have maybe 10 "labs" to complete, and we maybe do 1. The rest of them the teacher just gives us a 100% for being there, sometimes not even if we're there, and that's it. And they want to worry about attendance now, making it 60% of the grade when the classroom material is barely hands-on, leaving most of the work able to be done from home! I want to pursue a career in auto mechanics and feel proud of it, not feel good about sitting on my computer everyday of the week doing homework assignments that have so much random material in it that don't ever apply. It's not even the American system either! It's all Canadian! What system have they even adopted?? Doing nothing all day and giving every student a 100% on their grades because 5 whole weeks in a classroom isn't enough to teach at least 2-3 things in?? No wonder good credibility amongst mechanics in the field is so hard to find, schools like this let anyone grab a wrench and touch things. read more

What a joke. From a prospective employee standpoint, I interviewed there many years ago and did not get the job. Fast forward to 2023, I was asked to interview but I basically ignored the place. I remember speaking with a recruiter for them. Old timer that sounds like he smokes 5 packs a day and he encouraged me to apply. I did but as I stated, I ignored the invite by their director who loves to apparently speak while on speaker. Anyway, that same director reaches out to me, even though I had ignored a prior invite, to try to get me in to interview. I accepted. I interviewed, thought it went great, but then a week went by with no response. I called literally a week later. I get called back by the director, oh, we decided to go with someone else. If I had not called, I would have never been called. Now, if they do potential employees like that, just imagine the lack of follow up for actual student prospects. The old timer recruiter even admitted to me that their more recent admissions rep had quit because he did not want to deceive students. Folks, don't bother with this place. These schools, regardless how long they have been around, are all about profit. They target the mostly young, vulnerable, gullible potential student who's parents are probably barely making it economically. If you sign up and ultimately quit, you may end up getting stuck with a ton of loan debt that can last you for MANY years to come. read more

At first glance through the Yelp reviews I took it as people having bad experiences, but that's just not the case. Aside from Mr. Zaleski and a few others that I forget they sucked and just wanted your money. Mr. Zaleski helped me with questions about my car outside of school hours, but Mr. Carnegie was horrible. He did more mocking students than teaching and read my text out loud to the class about an issue I was having with my vehicle (which was an electrical issue while we were in an automotive electrical class) and never responded via text or verbally. I was also told I could transfer to another Lincoln Tech later down the road when I was planning on moving from IL to CT, that was a fat lie, I was forced to "drop out" and instead of paying for my tuition gradually and have it all paid off in the 15 months with financial aid and myself, I'm forced to pay over 8 grand out of pocket for 1 class that I completed instead of 12 grand with financial aid in 15 months with a degree. I don't normally write Yelp reviews, but after they tanked my credit score with me being unemployed for 5ish months they gave no exception. Even though on their website it says they can set up a "grace period" for payments, that's also a lie. read more

i took the collision course at Lincoln tech melrose park and it was the worst, uninformative, half-assed. lazy, I'll-prepared, uninteresting experience in my life. I came here with a good amount of knowledge in the automotive space. first, they bring you in to tour the school and have a sales representative take you around with a memorized script that entices you to join; a few things they would do are have instructors' cars in the shop space for storage and tell you " the students here build these cars, they just painted this one, this one was the project for this year, etc." I have been here for over a year and we never even have touched a single one of those cars. not only that, every single car I have ever worked on here has been a 2010 model year or older. all from the junk yard. very few running and driving. I have been talked to by instructors here for using "too many paper towels" or "using too much sand paper". it is ridiculous. they have zero power tools, everything is a ratchet or wrench. how can you prepare future workers in the field if you have not even showed them what power tools to use and how to use them. I don't get it. the shop part of the school is just as bad as the in-class part of the school. for starters, every day you come in and sit down and wait 30 minutes for all the students to show up because let's face it, if the instructors don't give a f*** why would anyone else. after you have sat here for 30 minutes not doing anything wasting time, the teacher turns on videos, sits infront of you on his phone, and just plays 3-5 videos from 2005-2010 era and does not explain anything, talk about anything. some of the information is so outdated and old. even the quizzes after the videos have the wrong answers at times and no one changes them. no one cares. all they want is your money, instructors have even said that to me privately. anyway, after the 3-5 videos you are given tests with questions so specific and sometimes so stupid, that you are just second guessing every button you press on the keyboard. they will give you questions of specifics and tell you that you need to know numbers to the thousanth (0.000), but then when they take you to the shop after, after you wait 1 hour for your turn to do something, they'll tell you, "yeah usually you would do it this way but that's too much material", "this is good for practice". it is a joke. stay away, please. save your money. learn from my mistake. and for Lincoln tech, if you are reading this I want half my money back for wasting my time and taking my hard earned money. read more

Don't go here. I went to the Lincoln College of Technology in Indianapolis for some information, and they tried to Shanghai me into going to their school. Their admission representative James A Smith lied to me about my options, bullied me into signing paperwork without letting me first read it (after I requested multiple times to read it first) and left me feeling scared, intimidated, and like I would potentially be chained to a radiator in a basement. 0/10 would recommend. read more

I Went To This Piece Of Shit They Call "College". Worst Experience Ever! I Went For The Medical Assisting Program Back In August. 2013. The First Class Was Boring As Hell, & Had Nothing To Do With Medical Assisting. My Other Classes Were Pretty Easy And Hands On. Some Of The Teachers Were Really Nice, & Others Were Really Bitchy, & Seemed Racist. So There's This Thing Called "Proficiencies" You Have To Take @ The Very End Of Your Last Class. Unfortunately, Mines Was Extended Because Nobody Ever Told Me About The 2 Open Labs, We Were To Complete. When, I Told Them Nobody Ever Brought This To My Attention. They Told Me "Oh, Well I Did Tell Your Class But You Weren't There". This Happened On 2 Occasions. Nobody Went Out Of Their Way To Tell Me! So I Left After My Final, They Told Me To Study And Come Back In A Month To Do Proficiencies. OK, Cool! (This Was In April) So, A Couple Of Days Later They Call Me And Say They Have Some Important Documents To Sign. I Go Up There & This Lady Wants Me To Sign A Leave Of Absence. She Put That It Was For "Personal" Reasons When Damn Well It Was Not. She Also Put That It Was From April-The End Of June. OK, So I Go In A Month Later To Do My Proficiencies, I Pass With A 95. Now I'm Suppose To Start Externship! I Didn't Start Externship Til About 2 Weeks Ago. This Nibert Chick, In charge Of Externship Was On Bs, When I Told Her I Needed To Go On Externship. I Told Her She Needed To Get My Stuff Done, Or Else I Will Be Contacting Her Boss, Bored Of Education & The State & She Will Be Hearing From My Lawyer If Nothing Was Done By Monday! She Then Replied Back Immediately, And Said That She Talked To Her Boss Already & And That If I Didnt Sign Another Leave Of Absence, She Was Going To Drop Me From The Program! OH, Hell Broke Loose! I Said OK, My Attorney Will Be Contacting You Shortly. She Then Replied Back, Saying That I Can Start Externship Tomorrow, I Just Need To Fill Out Some Papers, Yada Yada Yada.... She Came To My Job To Fill Out Papers With Me. I Told Her That I Cannot Work Everyday At That Sight & That Externship Was Going To Have To Work Around My Schedule. She Said That Was Fine. I Went To Externship For A Week, Faxed All My Papers, Got A Confirmation Page, And The Next Week I Showed Up For 1 Day, And Then This Week She Emails Me Saying She Got None Of My Papers & I Never Went To Externship. And Because Of This She Threatened To Drop Me Again. I Simply Replied Back And Said OK That's Fine! :) Now, My Lawsuit Is Being Processed & She Will Be Out Of Work When I'm Done! Moral Of The Story Is, If You Like Giving Away Thousands Of Dollars Then Go Right Ahead & Come To This Shit Hole. P.S. I haven't been at this school too long, but I know so far that no one cares about student safety or theft. My wallet was stolen directly out of my book bag yesterday and none of the staff cared. Apparently there are "no security cameras" in the halls, so it is unknown who stole my wallet. I went to an employee in the cash office and she didn't seem to care and took me over to the vice principal with an attitude. The vice principal only asked around what time the incident occurred and nothing was done about it and no one has gotten back to me. My last resource was going to the police to file a report of theft. I honestly liked this school up to this point. I will continue coming because I have taken a loan out for this program already. Do I recommend this school in terms of safety? NO. It is sad and unnecessary to carry all of your belongings around the school in order to avoid theft but it seems to be the only option. OH, and I suggest carrying any valuables such as money close and near because that's your only guarantee of security. I still can't believe no school official has taken any action and it is honestly sad. I will not recommend this school to anyone. read more

This place is terrible, avoid it like the plague. I went here 15 years ago. Lincoln Technical makes outrageous and unfounded claims about the education they provide. I got charged $1000 for a stack of worthless car manuals. After completing the 1st module, introductory course brakes was the next class which I completed. Then AC was next, about a week into the class I decided it was totally bogus. Keep in mind this was about 15 years ago but I remember they had a guarantee that a student could drop the program within 90 days and get some kind of credit or something. I was well within the 90 days and they refused to release me. I sat in their office an entire day and they just ignored me. Perspective students were coming in for interviews and I started to them how bogus the program is. That's when I got some attention, the people in the office told me I was unenrolled and they would mail me my paperwork. About a month later I got some jacked up bill and a something about how I was a no-show to class and they terminated me. This school has been hanging on dragging my credit score down for 15 years. Don't let these filthy animals take advantage of you. This is your warning, read it loud and clear. I was actually waiting for this place to get discredited like those other technical institutes that have been documented performing similar unethical practices. First off, it is so rushed that the system they use is useless. I witnessed a teacher cursing at the young kids and basically telling them that they were useless. My kids would NEVER attend this school! I had a teacher who showed a 10 minute film of the morning and sent us to the shop with no vehicles to work on for the rest of day. I already knew a lot about cars when I started here and I can tell you that this school was completely useless. It's baffling that OUR government backs such schools.
