Aside from the fact that it left my cousin upset and in tears that my grandfather couldn't cut his own 80th birthday cake, the sheer lack of understanding regarding the sentiment of my grandfather cutting his own cake seemed lost on the Managers of the restaurant. We paid the $15, what we didn't ask for was the ice cream and raspberry sauce that covered it; it also shouldn't have taken 20 minutes to come out after said payment. This whole unnecessary cake saga could have been avoided. Not only did they lose $150+ in alcohol for the sake of $15 in 'cakeage', on account of us not wanting to stay any longer, they've lost us as customers moving forward. Policies and procedures are one thing, a lack of common sense is another entirely.
