We absolutely love, love, love this school. My background is in education. In fact, I have been a…read moreteacher for almost 20 years. When it came time for us to choose an elementary school, we contemplated many and did all the tours and open houses. Initially, what drew me to SPN was the curriculum. For the last 5 years, I have been tutoring and I was especially impressed with the work I would see the SPN kids doing. They were challenged as well as supported. Since I was also starting to do my homework on which school to send my daughter, I would also talk the parents of all my students about their experience. It seemed to me that the families that chose SPN were happier overall than the families of the other Alameda schools, both public and private. My daughter is now a 1st grader and my husband and I could not be happier with our choice. The school has been very welcoming and warm. The parent community is very involved and inclusive. Athletics are very important to my husband and I and we were thrilled to find out that Kindergartners are welcome to join both the cross country and track and field teams! Our class is super diverse: ethnically and socially. We love that our daughter will be with her same class all the way through 8th grade. My classroom teaching background is in middle school and another huge plus to this school is the interaction the little ones have with the big kid and vice versa. As for the religion component of the school - the kids attend mass weekly, they have regular religion classes in class. From what I have seen, they teach the best of what organized religion has to offer, character and community building.

I'm sure many of your students don't flush and are so courteous to pee all over the seat. Open the door, and not even hold it open for a lady but as parents and faculty, it's important to teach etiquette especially in a world that's full of wars, slavery, and disrespect for one another. They're kids. They need their parents around, not on IG, or Tik Tok, but to teach them manners. Description: 5 foot, 12 years old looking, blue eyes, dirty blonde hair, tennis shoes, St. Philip Neri uniform, Caucasian male: I did not appreciate pee all over the seat, floor and in the toilet. Please be thoughtful and caring to others who use the baño after you. Good luck in school and your endeavors and please be kind and courteous.

EDISON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL is located in a neighborhood that is middle class to upper middle class…read more The school is located in between the main thoroughfares of Park Street and High Street. Although the architecture of the buildings at Edison School is on the humble side, in that it resembles army barracks, the walls on the outside of the buildings are noted for the presence of large colorful murals. The schoolyard has a basketball court, poles for playing tetherball, and walls for playing "wall ball." The northwest corner of the schoolyard has a garden, where Edison School parents can busy themselves in maintaining a tiny farm. Parents of Edison School kids will likely be most familiar with an auditorium called the "multi-cultural room." In this room, Edison kids engage in performances with voice or musical instruments, or display their paintings and drawings in art exhibits. During my term as an Edison School parent, I was asked by Edison School management to be the "photographer" during school events, and I took photos during the annual carnival and during the annual Halloween parade, and also of some of the singing performances in the "multi-cultural room." During my Edison School years, it was frequently the case that my photographs were displayed on large posters on walls in the indoor hallways of Edison School. During my three years as an Edison School parent, I briefly met a few of the teachers, but had actual conversations with only two of the teachers. One of the teachers was the well-loved Mr. Meader. Mr. Meader was kind enough to give me a compact disc, that he had made, with songs by The Who. From the point of view of a parent, the truly great thing about Edison School is the lasting relationships that my family has made with other Edison School parents and their offspring. My own elementary school was Coe Elementary School, located in Seattle, Washington, and I have posted a review of Coe School on YELP. At the time I was an active Edison School parent, the schoolyard had a huge multi-colored mural taking the form of a large hand-painted map of the United States of America. The painting on the asphalt was a bit on the funky side, and the funkiness of the painted mural made it more charming and more emotionally engaging. Unfortunately, I noticed that this mural-map has been removed, and replaced with a much smaller map of the United States. The new map is NOT multi-colored. The new map is very neat and appears to be the result of a stencil (in other words, the new map does not appear to be the result of the brushwork of schoolchildren). To view the big picture, what I consider to be an evil curse upon the American public, is people in management who order the destruction of beautiful murals. It is too bad that management at Edison School has been inflicted by this curse. Too bad. This is about my photo posters of school events (see above). I made three separate posters for the donut-munching contest where donuts are suspended from strings, for the Halloween parade, for the Bridge Festival which involved an elementary school at the west end, for a singing performance in the multicultural room, and for other events. Each of my posters had 30 photographic prints glued on it, and each poster cost me $100 to make. Each poster was 4 feet x 5 feet. I donated these to Edison School, and they displayed them in the hallway, and then put them into long-term storage in the main office. I was hoping that future generations of Edison kids would be able to view my photos. I was hoping that young students at Edison School during the years 2050 to 2100, and also during the next few centuries, would look at my photographic murals and exclaim, "Ohh-Emm-Gee, did they really have those funny haircuts back then!?!" Unfortunately, after a couple of years, management ordered that my poster boards of photos be discarded. What is it with the art-hating management at Edison School???? Why did management get rid of the lovely mural/ map? Why did Edison school management destroy my posters with photos of Edison school kids? In my opinion, the door to the Edison School principal's office should have a large sign on it reading, "Chief Art-Hater."

I'm only familiar with the multi purpose room which is rented for my HOA's annual meeting. There's…read morenever heat so it's fairly uncomfortable. Now they've replaced chairs with picnic tables. No chair backs for middle aged adults and freezing. What fun!

hello, i'm a student at Patten Academy and have been for 11 years. It's a TK- 12th grade. Patten is…read morea Christian school that teaches from the bible. That's the most important part. From kindergarten my teachers have planted seeds of faith in me. I have good friends I met at Patten. Everyone is really sweet. Especially my teachers, Sharon and Tom. Our principal sacrifices a lot for us. She has been teaching 1st grade for about 2 years. and keeps a smile on her face. Tom, Sharon are my highschool my favorites. They care deeply about my education and always encourage me when i'm having a hard time. My favorite thing is that I can come to my teachers for prayer/ advice. The campus is beautiful, from the prayer chapel to the landscaping on the highschool side. It's very peaceful on campus. Our electives are the fun part. You can do many different fun electives on Friday, you can even start your own. I've attended and enjoyed art elective. Aswell as, I've started two, a girls faith group and a Sanrio club. I have started two : THE FORCE which is a girls faith group, and another a Sanrio club, where we cooked and made crafts based off of the characters. We enjoyed and made many memories. Student are very involved in the activities that happen within the highschool, they can plan events (prom, trips, fall festival, pep rallies). pros: drugs, fights, bullying, toxic interactions are not a problem at my school. I feel safe. My parents are able to connect with my teachers easily. Mr.Tom makes math class enjoyable and adjust for each student (if needed) We have service on Fridays to showcase our orchestra, choir as-well as a sermon by our Pastors. Our Pastors check in with us, and actually care about us! Seniors get out early ! Public speakers come pretty much every other day to share a message on their hearts to encourage us. To be honest : Our school lacks in the sport department, but that will change upon more applicants. but what truly matters is there. The Lords presence. Patten welcomes everyone. we have combine classes in high school because we're small but mighty. once there was a school year with one 11th grader and a class full of 12th graders. Once they graduated there was one girl to be a senior the following year, her name was Jasmine. She was an exchange student. She was very distraught to graduate alone. So I took her hand, and I said "Let's pray about it". My prayer ask God to send more students so that she wouldn't have to graduate alone. God, in fact sent 7 new students from her country. And she did not graduate alone. Most of the students came as 11th graders, but were able to move up to 12th grade having many credits. She testified about the story at her graduation! This was major! For this reason she thanks God. I thank God for answering our prayer. I know our school might not have everything, but if you want your child to know God and get a 1 on 1 education please consider Patten Academy of Christian Education. God bless.
