Our child has applied to this school for three consecutive years. We come from a strong Christian…read morefamily, and our faith and Christian values were a major reason we continued pursuing this school. Each year, our child completed the observations and assessments and received nothing but positive feedback about how well they did. Yet every year, we were waitlisted and ultimately never offered admission, without ever receiving a genuine explanation as to why. After three years, this process has left us questioning how fair and transparent admissions truly are and whether status, connections, favoritism, or nepotism play a role. From our experience, the process simply did not reflect the honesty, fairness, sincerity, and Christian values we expected from a faith-based school. As a Christian family, we have prayed about it and come to believe that perhaps God was protecting our child from an environment that was not meant for them. If this is how families are made to feel during admissions, we can only question what the culture is like on the inside. After three years of disappointment, we will not be applying again. Christian values should be demonstrated through actions, not simply through a school's name or reputation.

My child went…read moreto this school for 2 years and I thought I had a good relationship with the teachers and staff, I was shocked to see how they had zero compassion toward my family when it came to money. I made the huge mistake of paying in advance for the year, and then about halfway through the year my kid got accepted at another school that goes up to 8th grade. The teachers and staff all recommended that i take the opportunity as it would be a good move for the future. When i asked about being refunded, i was told i would have to wait 8 months for a refund, and then a week later i was told, "nevermind, there are no refunds." I was out more than $5,780 and zero sympathy and everyone stopped answering my emails. I would recommend to parents to simply find another school, one that has an ounce of compassion and heart. It breaks my heart because the teacher was so great, but those business practices are terrible. I guess it's all in the fine print that you sign when you enroll, but never in a million years did I think it would come to this. I think the ownership/management should learn a few of the Montessori principals like kindness, compassion and empathy.

I had to leave a review due to Principals Day and there's no other woman nor person I'd want my kids to look up to as a leader in a Catholic community. Ms. Picazo is the definition of a true Catholic. She is a driving force in showing what it means to do what Jesus would do. If I had to choose what school to send my little kiddos to all over again, I wouldn't hesitate to pick OLL. Go Cheetahs!

The first place your child will be singled out and experience discrimination is at school by Barbara Picazo. She has consistently demonstrated this behavior, she has biases and preferences towards students and she will target young boys of color. Considering the current state of the world, one would think that a catholic school and archdiocese would hire faculty that create a safe space for our children. It's been quite the opposite with BarbaraPicazo. Also - did anyone else notice that she is the person with the most complaints on these reviews? This pattern speaks for itself. What a shame!

As a public school educator myself, I knew what resources, services, and curriculum were available to my son if he were to be enrolled in a public school. I knew it would not fit his needs. I found Great Heights at the right moment and have never looked back. The one thing that every parent I know with a special needs child looks for in a school is that the child is well taken care of and loved no matter their disability. This school meets those expectations to the fullest. Great Heights has a great academic program tailored to each individual child and a low student to teacher ratio. I have always felt comfortable sending my son there. The director, Khia Lopez, pours her heart and soul into her students and their education. I highly recommend this school!!!

I'm…read morein 9th grade (going into 10th now), and The Biltmore School left me severely underprepared for regular school life. Yes, the small hands on approach is definitely good for children with disabilities/developmental issues, however if you take a child without these difficulties and then put them into a regular school (public schools) your kids gonna have a lot of problems. The schools probably changed since my time attending, sure, however while I was there, it was even unsafe for kids with issues. An example of this would be with my cousin who also attended at the same time as me, who was autistic and low support needs. He was a victim of bullying, which got the a point where a student broke his arm. As for me, I didn't have these sorts of issues (I have ADHD but that's never effected my learning so I don't count it) and after I left The Biltmore, I was introduced to many different learning tools such as iready, IXL, ect. However, The Biltmore never taught me how to use these programs, and the larger classes of public schools meant that my teachers rarely offered me help with using these programs, leaving me to teach myself which made me struggle at the beginning of my education in public schools. To any parents thinking of sending your children here; DO NOT. DONT SEND YOUR KIDS HERE!!!!! As a former student, I'm begging you not to send your kids here, it was genuinely one of the worst experiences of my life.
