It was a very unpleasant experience trying to explain my situation to Lincoln customer services representative. From March 5th, 2025 to May 28,2025, I called the customer services several times every week trying to get my Required Minimum Distribution check corrected since they deposited a wrong check into my checking account with state income tax rate of 75%. I was told to fill out the new RMD request forms 3 times stating that the forms I previously received were outdated. I called Raymond Jung, my original agent in California, and John Young, the client services Manager to Raymond Jung, answered the phone. He patiently listened to my story, and then promised to help me. Today, I received the RMD check with correct state and federal income tax deductions. John is very compassionate and helpful. His service was excellent. Lincoln is very lucky to have an employee like John. read more

I have group dental insurance through Lincoln Financial, and my experience has been extremely disappointing. I HAVE DENTAL INS / DENTAL ID# / DENTAL GROUP# - every time I call they ask for my SSN. DO NOT PROVIDE THIS! I tell them, "I have a policy number and will not provide my SSN. Why do you even need a SSN when I have a policy and group#?". They can never answer why they ask for SSN. Even CMS did away with using SSN. Plain dumb! Their customer service has been poor from the start. During calls, I repeatedly asked representatives to slow down and speak more clearly, but they continued rushing through explanations that were difficult to understand. Communication was frustrating and unhelpful, and I did not feel listened to or supported as a customer. My main issue involves two 40-year-old silver fillings that caused my teeth to crack. Lincoln initially denied coverage for crowns. After numerous phone calls, emails, and written appeals sent by USPS, the crowns were finally approved - but only the porcelain portion. Lincoln continues to deny coverage for the crown build-up, claiming it is not medically necessary. To justify the treatment, my dentist had to describe the depth and severity of the cracks multiple times, in different ways, which felt like unnecessary interrogation. The cracks were clearly visible on the X-rays, even to someone who is not a dentist. Because of this experience, I am now shopping for my own dental insurance and plan to decline Lincoln Financial coverage through my employer. I would NOT recommend this group for any services! read more

Astonishingly bad customer support. What can only be described as a hybrid between weaponized incompetence and intentionally being obtuse. Like talking to an LLM on a loop, only it's a real person who's knowingly and intentionally making life more difficult for you. Was re-routed through IVRs for over an hour, denied the ability to speak with a supervisor to escalate my request, transferred to several voicemails (of which no one called me back for days), and hung up on. All to ask a simple procedural question (not specific to me or my claim) that quite literally anyone in their Claims Department could have answered in under a minute. read more

I had a set phone appointment to perform a testing interview. They call me on time, then put me on hold three times! She said she's waiting for her computer to load. What are you using? A Commodore 64? Really nice person, but don't put a client on hold, it's really rude. read more

For years I've had to deal with these scumbags through my employer. My first unfortunate experience was during COVID. I ended up contracting it and my employer told me to inform Lincoln and not come into work. The agent at Lincoln was friendly and told me to send in the doctor's report showing I was COVID-positive. I did, and she let me know that I could have up to a month off and if I needed longer to reach out to them. I thanked her and began to convalesce. I ended up being sick for about four weeks. Just shy of the whole month. But it felt nice knowing everything was secure and taking care of (and my wife and kids were acting like the sweetest nurses). However, when I returned to work, I found Lincoln only paid a week. When I reached out to them, they said that they would need Doctor visit notes for anything past a week. I explained I wasn't told that. The agent couldn't care less, they just insisted I needed notes. I tried to explain that I HAVE insurance and a Primary Care that I could've seen at any time while I was sick, but I was never told I needed to. And now I'm not sick anymore, what was I to do, just go there after the fact and ask them to guess how sick I was the preceding month? Again, Lincoln couldn't care less. They never paid, and my finances were crippled for a year trying to make up for a sudden month of no pay. But my latest experience takes the cake. I was at work when I suddenly began to have an internal hemorrhage and started bleeding out all over myself. I was rushed to the emergency room. I then went through a series of surgical visits, specialist visits and check-ins with my PCP over the next couple of months while these internal perforations were closed up. The whole time I'm still just seeping blood everywhere. Lincoln's response? "That's not really DISABLED though, is it? You could've just worked while you were bleeding out." I was absolutely flabbergasted. I pointed out that by either the state's definition or even Lincoln's own posted definition that it completely met the standard of disability. They still denied my claim. I retained an attorney and have been in the process of suing them. The cost of everything is probably going to be as much as I'd end up getting, but at this point it's just the principle. I'm so tired of these amoral leeches taking my pay every week and then not doing what they're paid to do. read more

I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel compelled to share my experience. My interactions with Lincoln Financial during my disability claim left me feeling frustrated and unsupported. Despite providing extensive medical documentation from my treating physicians and demonstrating the significant impact my chronic migraines have had on my ability to maintain full-time employment, I felt that my claim was not evaluated with the level of consideration I expected. The process was stressful, communication was disappointing, and the overall experience added unnecessary anxiety during an already difficult time in my life. I understand that insurance companies must evaluate claims carefully, but claimants also deserve to feel that their medical evidence has been reviewed fairly and that they are treated with respect throughout the process. Unfortunately, that was not my experience. I hope Lincoln Financial works to improve transparency, communication, and the way it handles individuals facing legitimate medical disabilities. read more

This insurance is awful. Most dental offices do not accept it. Do not get it. It is a waste of money.

My experience with Lincoln Financial has been incredibly frustrating. My doctors have provided the medical information and documentation requested, yet the process has still been filled with delays, repeated requests, and conflicting information from these people. Instead of focusing on recovering from surgery, I've had to spend my time making calls, following up, and trying to get clear answers. A disability claims process should provide clear communication, consistency, and compassion not create additional stress for people who are already dealing with medical issues. Lincoln needs to do much better. read more

Nightmare of a company. Don't even think of buying an annuity from them! My wife inherited an annuity from her mother. Absolutely the worst "investment" imaginable. Just now, she's trying to cash out of it. They erected a huge number of roadblocks to keep your money. Last straw was my wife asking them firmly to wire out proceeds, but they said "something" was missing, so they refused to call my wife and get the bogus "missing" information, instead they unilaterally decided to mail a check for $75,000 so they could earn income for themselves as money sits dead for a week or more as my wife awaits the check. Don't EVER let someone trick you into buying an annuity! read more

When making an attempt to request FMLA with Lincoln financial on their website it was an absolute nightmare. It asks for a reason and only provides 5 options and one of them is "other" when you select that option it only give you "domestic violence" as an option. Has no clear option to apply for an intermittent leave. It makes you jump through hoops to where you ultimately need to get them on the phone to make a leave request. Wish my company never switched its FMLA service to Lincoln. It's almost as if they did this on purpose to make it as difficult as possible for you to obtain FMLA. read more

My sister passed away February 3 2025. The money from her Lincoln retirement account is supposed to go to me. I have sent in all the forms that Lincoln requested. I even had to get an affidavit from the court stating the account was mine. Every time everything was completed they came up with another excuse as to why they couldn't release the money. The latest excuse is they need a signature from my sister's employer! They keep saying that they have reached out to the employer and haven't heard back from them. I spoke with my sister's employer and they haven't received anything from Lincoln. This has been going on for over a year!! Customer Service is the worst. They do not care, do not communicate anything to you. Made a claim for short term disability and an accident claim on may 5th and as of today may 20th I've heard nothing from them, and every time I call it's the same BS. The review process takes 7 - 10 business days and may not get approved which is ridiculous when they received the physician authorization and statement stating that I can not work currently. They have no sense of urgency and are rude on the phone. They are messing with my money and ability to pay bills, even my doctor appointments have a copay that I can not pay due to being out of work for almost 3 weeks now. They literally don't do their Job. The amount of times they would call me and tell me they didn't receive the forms from my provider; and I would tell them "Oh, well they sent it out 2 days ago." The worse company to deal with for short term disability. I do not recommend them at all. Filed claim 5/14 for hospital indemnity and short term disability. Called them every day for a month to try to ask what I needed to do to get things rolling. My case manager Jamie stated I needed to call old and new insurance for explanation of benefits plus get 10+ doctors to send info to her for a year prior. I started to listen to her while very weak and sick and I made a comment about my hospital indemnity plan claim then she says oh well I don't handle that here is another number to call. So then I call and get a manager in which she states that All my claims are denied because they feel that my physical illness was brought on by my depression and they don't cover any claims due to mental illness. Jamie continued to lie and say it wasn't true. You know Jamie, could have told me this but instead she was dishonest and continued to require me to get ALL information from my doctors which was a really hard thing to do and said that my claim was not denied yet. This went on for a week calling every day being a good client trying my damnest to get all the information she requested until I received a letter from Lincoln and from Jamie saying my claim is denied because of underlying depression/ mental illness disqualification . Jamie knew for a week my claim was denied yet she put me through hell to gather information for her without saying anything to me. Because of this my family has no food, is not eating and our lights are currently out and now I need 2000 deposit to turn back on( we are in Florida btw) I really don't know how employees at Lincoln are able to sleep at night knowing what they are doing to hard working people who have paid them for services that NEVER are approved. i retired from a county job in which i had lincoln life insurance. I was allowed to port it over -it was successfully ported. My first quarterly premium was supposed to be electronically deducted on 8/29/2023. In the middle of September i get noticed that i hadnt paid my premium and had until the end of the month to pay it or lose my coverage. They gave me info on their Lincoln portal. I successfully paid my quarterly premium on this portal from 9/2023 through May 2025. In May 2025, i attempted to get on the portal-no luck-called the company, and was informed that i couldnt possibly be paying online-What? They did confirm that i was paid through 5/31/2025. I explained that i had proof but they were very argumentative that i shouldnt have been able to pay on the portal. So I had to send a check to their Philadelphia po box. I sent it certified so i had proof of their receipt. I also had to complete a new automatic premium payment form so they could take the payment from my bank account. I emailed this to the Omaha Nebraska office. I called and confirmed that they received the form on 6/8/2025. while on the phone, the worker indicated that i had a conversion policy that i could keep until age 121 as long as i paid my premiums. On the auto payment form i checked i wanted payments deducted on the 15th of the month as it gave two choices 15th or 1st. As the bill is due by the first, i wanted the 15th. So on 8/15/25, i check my bank account-no deduction-waited a few days-still no deduction. After numerous phone calls with people at lincoln that had lacking language skills, i finally spoke with a woman who informed me that they dont take deductions on the 15th-it has to be the 1st. but the form gave me a choice. So on 9/1/25, i checked again, still no deduction. More phone calls to Lincoln-found out that i do not have a conversion policy-it is a ported policy that ends when i turn 67. Again, what? I had been told something completely different. Mind you, this company never sent me a policy or any type of info between the date retired inMay 2023 to August2025-My fault but i thought i had all the info i needed. Even my former employer did not give me anything that detailed my coverage. So now I know that i will lose this coverage in18 months. okay. So now on 9/8, i sent another check with bill to their Philadelphia office, and as of today, 9/18, they are not finding my payment. I did not send this one certified so here we go again. During my last phone call, i was advised that it takes two time periods Or 6 months for the electronic funds withdrawal to take place. I just cannot believe how inefficient, and how crappy this company is. Also to add insult to injury, they didnt add in one of my husbands policy premiums on the last bill-so they are trying to figure out why as my husband keeps his policy until i turn 67. Ugh!!!!!!! I have done some primal scream therapy to keep my sanity. I intend to contact the NYS Insurance Board to file a complaint. Thank you for listening to my rant. I wouldnt evengive them one star if it was an option. read more

If it were possible to give negative stars, this company would deserve them. I am truly of the opinion that there is systematic planned fraud in this company. I have been on short term disability since December '25 for rotator cuff repair surgery and Lincoln was advised my recovery would take 16 to 20 weeks. I have two policies (unfortunately) with this company, one through my employer and one through my Union. I am now nearing the end of my recovery and have not been paid on time once since I have been off on either of the policies. Their excuse has been not getting timely reports on my progress from the doctors, even in the first month of my recovery. Like I'm ready to return to work one month after rotation cuff surgery! They do pay, eventually, in a lump sum. But going 5-8 weeks or longer without a paycheck is tough. And it isn't just me. All the short term disability recipients at our company have had the same issue. I would blame it on poor case managers, but my policies were handled by different managers, which coupled with the fact that other recipients are experiencing the same issue, leads me to believe this is policy. If you are a manager in a company or union looking for company to handle short-term disability, stay away from Lincoln Financial. And from the reviews I have read about their other services, I would stay away from them as well. read more

My mom passed away 15 months ago after holding an annuity account with LFG for many years. 14 months ago I started the process of closing the account and getting the money sent to the estate. Nothing. No communication. The call center is useless. Two weeks ago I contacted them again and received an email (do no reply to this email because it is not a monitored address) with the news that my claim could not be processed because it was out of date. Zero star. LFG is one of the worst company you could deal with. They will do everything to try and not pay you. I had a hemorrhagic stroke in my brain's right thalamus region on 05/16/2025 which left my entire left side weak and numb. My daughter helped me file short term disability with my employer on 05/19/2025. I was with this employer for more than six years and paying my share to LFG every paycheck. Less than two months later on 07/10/2025, my case was closed and denied which I wasn't notified until 08/07/2025. They just made up the 07/10/2025 date without reviewing my doctors evaluations and treatment plan. They didn't care that I was recovering, had a MRI scheduled on 07/13/2025 and was waiting for the neurologist and sleep therapist regarding my recovery. I still have another appointment with my primary in September. Even the neurologist stated that my condition was "chronic", meaning it will take three or more months to recover. Tried to call LFG but always goes to voice mail. Even if you leave a voice mail, LFG take a few days before your calls are returned or only leave you an email. LFG request more paperwork on 07/22/2025 from my providers after they already made the decision to deny and close my case on 07/10/2025. LFG stated that they must receive this updated paperwork by 09/04/2025. What was the point of this nonsense?? My primary doctor filled out the paperwork on 07/25/2025 and I sent it to them on 07/27/2025. Apparently, the case managers don't have access to the email system where you send your paperwork. It wouldn't surprise me if this goes to their spam email box. Now, it's going through the appeal process and who knows when that would be approved or denied. Most likely it has already been denied and you just don't know. If you have a choice, stay away from LFG and take your business somewhere else. read more

I'm going to continue complaining to my employer about this terrible company until they switch to a different provider for disability. Even though I began my maternity leave process 5 months ahead of time, I was given zero guidance and ended up having to do duplicate application steps days after giving birth--going back to my doctors office for paperwork and emailing and calling my case manager so many times until I had to complain to my own HR for their lack of response--turns out she was on leave but doesn't know how to set up an out of office message apparently. In June, I was asked for my father's divorce decree, which I don't have, but my mother passed away **ten years ago** so I offered her death certificate instead. After many calls, this was finally approved. I have been calling since June, filling out forms, getting repeat answers from the call center, trying to submit everything so I can disburse his estate. EVERY TIME I submit a form, I am asked for the divorce decree (see above). EVERY TIME I submit a form, I'm told it's the incorrect form (though they provided it), or that the rollover is in process (it's not), or that I'm missing my father's death certificate (I've sent it numerous times). Their process is horrific. I have yet to get the claim approved. I filed a complaint through their email address in November, and have yet to receive a call back from an actual person who can actually get things done.
