    For years I've had to deal with these scumbags through my employer. My first unfortunate experience was during COVID. I ended up contracting it and my employer told me to inform Lincoln and not come into work. The agent at Lincoln was friendly and told me to send in the doctor's report showing I was COVID-positive. I did, and she let me know that I could have up to a month off and if I needed longer to reach out to them. I thanked her and began to convalesce. I ended up being sick for about four weeks. Just shy of the whole month. But it felt nice knowing everything was secure and taking care of (and my wife and kids were acting like the sweetest nurses). However, when I returned to work, I found Lincoln only paid a week. When I reached out to them, they said that they would need Doctor visit notes for anything past a week. I explained I wasn't told that. The agent couldn't care less, they just insisted I needed notes. I tried to explain that I HAVE insurance and a Primary Care that I could've seen at any time while I was sick, but I was never told I needed to. And now I'm not sick anymore, what was I to do, just go there after the fact and ask them to guess how sick I was the preceding month? Again, Lincoln couldn't care less. They never paid, and my finances were crippled for a year trying to make up for a sudden month of no pay. But my latest experience takes the cake. I was at work when I suddenly began to have an internal hemorrhage and started bleeding out all over myself. I was rushed to the emergency room. I then went through a series of surgical visits, specialist visits and check-ins with my PCP over the next couple of months while these internal perforations were closed up. The whole time I'm still just seeping blood everywhere. Lincoln's response? "That's not really DISABLED though, is it? You could've just worked while you were bleeding out." I was absolutely flabbergasted. I pointed out that by either the state's definition or even Lincoln's own posted definition that it completely met the standard of disability. They still denied my claim. I retained an attorney and have been in the process of suing them. The cost of everything is probably going to be as much as I'd end up getting, but at this point it's just the principle. I'm so tired of these amoral leeches taking my pay every week and then not doing what they're paid to do.

    Had shoulder surgery. Then Haven't been paid in over 6+ weeks. Can't get a clear answer on the phone. They are literally starving me out.

BUT who you work with matters. My wife has been with Carly Thomas, owner of Peterson Bros Insurance since she moved to Omaha almost 20 years ago and when I married my wife, Tammie, I wondered if this was the best option. Carly was my choice as well after researching and seeing just how hard she worked to find us options that took care of all our needs. With 8 children we needed flexibility to deal with their risky driving habits (all teenagers tend to be risky), but we also needed flexibility as our homes and vehicles changed. Tammie and I are also full-time realtors and over the last 5 years in this profession, have only referred two different insurance agents because we know that Carly takes care of people the way we do....and we don't want a business to spoil our good name just by treating our clients poorly. Carly is EXCELLENT and her team is outstanding. And yes, having a local agent that has to look you in the eye does make a difference! She gives farmers insurance a really bad name because of her lack of care and concern for her customers. It is extremely difficult to get a hold of Katie at times. when…read moreI finally did get a hold of her and asked for where is my bill and any policy updates for my current policy, which was due to expire on June 22, she told me I can put you with Bristol West, they are part of Farmers and your rates will only increase by 5%. This was a Approximately June 2 I believe after I've been calling for a week.. what does she do? She makes my insurance effective with Bristol on June 2 when my policy with Farmers was in effect till June 22 that's 20 days of dual coverage insurance coverage. Guess she didn't bother to check when my insurance was going to expire did I know I had dual insurance? No not until I got the paperwork from Bristol West now they're charging me $56 for eight days of coverage and they still haven't sent my refund for the remainder of the canceled policy. Yes I've left her a message. Yes I expect her to pay me the $56. I am also going to file a complaint with Farmers insurance and the Department of consumer affairs in Nebraska. I have been with farmers insurance on my father's policy and and continued on my own until June 22 at midnight.
