Love the community and the teachers. I also appreciate the PTA and how welcoming they have been to our family.

I think the biggest mistake educators make, is they think to much with their heads and forget to think with their hearts. For youth that are struggling to find their niche in life and find high school overwhelming and sometimes suffocating with its consistent need to find exactly where they fit in... I take the classic 80's movie that said it the best, "You see us as you want to see us--in the simplest terms, in the most convenient definitions. But what we found out is that each one of us is a brain...and an athlete... ...and a basket case... ...a princess......and a criminal." When educators can tap into the core of each child and see past a students insecurities then I think there might be success. In my 4 years I had a total of two teachers that that gave me any type of encouragement, the first in 10th grade English who though I begged her not to read my story out loud and did, she did not say who wrote it but the class enjoyed it and wanted to know who and she just smiled at me and my peers applauded me and the final one was my Senior year a few weeks before graduation, I had to make up an American History credit from 9th grade so I was in an Adult Ed class given on campus during school hours and I turned in a term paper regarding gangs and government and she read it and asked if I had been pursuing journalism because I had so much talent. For that youth those twenty some odd years ago it was the nicest compliment she'd ever received from a teacher. My suggestion for teachers , if you are burnt out and just passing time to get your pension, please think of the children who don't know their voices yet and need guidance not indifference. My 4 years were unremarkable and I hold fondly to my heart the two teachers that were able to see a glimmer of who I really wanted to be. So Thank you Mrs.McEwen & Mrs. Quinn, I'm forever grateful.

This was quite the school, in every single way possible, our school is quite special, in every way…read morepossible too! A great example of how special we are is of the drug problem, imagine 6th graders trying to find their path to sobriety, well there's no imagining, it happens all here (I do feel for them though that is a lot for them to go through) Fortunately, we have a life skills class that teaches us the downside effects of drugs, the only people is some people choose not to listen to it. But I did not deal with that problem, next way on we were so special is that room 45 (the math or science room I don't remember) is thankfully near the band room I get to hear lullabies with tubas and drums during my tests that just put us straight to sleep and we totally did not try to tune out whatever melodic harmonies our school was playing. We had quite the memorable events (not in a good way) but this was a problem with a student theirself, not the school, and then something a staff member did, that was on the staff member not the school, but he's fired. Yelp is telling me this review is looking pretty epic, I am so proud of myself! I don't know why I'm making this review so cherry but yelp likes it so I gotta keep it up, if I keep this up I should probably sign up for creative writing. Ok jokes aside, I had a good experience in Balboa, I liked the education I got, you have just got to hope that our school's special moments didn't get in the way of your education. I had a good time and liked my friends there it was more epic than your mom! The students at Balboa have gave me some very amazing your mom joke inspiration too! Just ask around

this is one of the worst schools that I have ever experienced. They are very racist and biased and…read morevery sexist. They have a very strict dress code that they claim they use because it distracts the teachers and students that's kind of disgusting if you ask me considering the fact that we are in middle school and that shouldn't even be an issue in the first place. Their board members will do anything to go out of their way to make your kid feel like shit. They make kids cry left and right and tell them that they love them, but do multiple things to take them down and make sure it's the worst middle school years for them. They'll take a situation that is really not big at all and escalated by 10 just by taking it up to the office, they get people in trouble for no reason and DEFINITELY have their favorites. They also DEFINITELY have their least favorites too. All the teachers are very rude, but not as rude as the people up in the office. They don't want you to promote. They don't want you to be successful. They want you to suffer and that's exactly what they do to everyone the teachers go around talking smack about other students which is very immature to me because isn't this a middle school where the kids are supposed to be talking about each other? Not the adults be talking about the kids. They also have a very "No smoke" policy but when it comes to their favorites, the policy doesn't apply to them. not to mention, the school is very nasty. The bathrooms always smell not even smell they reek the locker rooms are always disgusting and there's always trash all around the school. One of the biggest things that is bad about this school is the fact of how unsafe it is they make things online saying that this is the happiest school ever. This is hell there's fights like every week. They have to have officers there and it is not safe at all. Do not let your kid go to the school. If you are thinking about it, they will make it seem like it's all good that they'll call you every single time that your kid does something wrong but that's not true. They'll call you every single time. Your kid makes a mistake and also they try to make it seem like you're allowed to make mistakes but the second that you make one it's a big problem to them.

The class sizes range from 20 students per class or less. Communication about your child's grades, attendance, behavior is thru s online site called teacher ease. Faculty is quick to respond to any and all emails about your child or the school. Bonnie does not have a band or a cafeteria. Its a small school with its usual student clicks but academically good for a blooming student. Sports programs hear are the best whether its Volleyball or football the coaches teach good sportsmanship, camaraderie on and off the field. There is a certain sisterhood and or brotherhood amongst the sports teams here at Bonnie. If you have seen the TV series FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS then you'll know what I mean. Consider Bonnie for your child if you are looking for a private school because of its fantastic sports programs, its concern for each student academically and the willingness to keep parents involved. Tuition is pretty steep but you can request financial aid assistance to help. Just to note every year at the start of school $400 registration is due for each student. Books are sold during student book sales day where all students sell their old textbooks to the other students or underclassmen for real cheap! Great way to save on books and have cash to spend on uniforms. Parent involvement is encouraged yet demanded, single parent families must submit 12 volunteer hours and dual parent households 25 hours per year. You can volunteer to work snack bar during sports games, donate food for hours, help set up or clean up during events like parent night or green n gold day or during fiesta.
