I am a father of three children that attended Oak Grove School from pre-school through high school and could not be more thrilled with the education each received! Oak Grove's strong community of teachers and faculty encourage self-expression and independent thinking. Furthermore, questioning and civil debate (a true rarity now-a-days) are expected as the child reaches upper level high school classes! The confidence to speak their minds and have true, honest discussions learned - and demonstrated by other members of the community - during their time at Oak Grove is priceless. One of the most important tools each child learns at Oak Grove is self-knowledge. The ability to understand and care for one's self is vital. Without truly knowing yourself it is impossible to understand or care for others. Seeking strong communities and deep relationships with like-minded people is a skill learned by my children and it is a pleasure to watch as they grow stronger and more self-aware. The outdoor education program is taught at every grade level! From family camping on the school's soccer field as a kindergartner to the six-day backpacking trip through the wilderness, my children developed a love for nature. TOTAL HORRIBLE SCHOOL!!!!!! I am shocked I let my daughter attend for 1 year. They indoctrinate people... they do not teach!!! My daughter has discussed much with me since she left. Krishnamurti would roll over in his grave. Sad and pathetic. I cannot say enough things negative about this camp. The kids are so entitled and all hate Krishnamurti and make fun of the curriculum. They hate EXPENSIVE VEGAN FOOD. it is a sham!!!! If you want your child to be a follower and an SJW.. this camp is for you. If you want your child to be a free thinker... seek elsewhere. I worry... it may take years to undo what they did. k-5th could not prepare her for the advanced life style discussion of Oak Grove's 5th-grade sex ed and Social justice....They criminal to me! 100% *Mary 6th grade.... the worst....and if you have seen the movie "The Others'... and be careful.... she might corner your child and question them openly about their parent's politcial affiilations. Oak Grove School; such a beautiful learning environment. I graduated from OGS in 2019; I was there from 9th grade to 12th. Thanks to the high school's teachers and college counselors, I got accepted into multiple universities to pursue art. Oak Grove taught me important life lessons and skills that have better prepared me for adult life. The main reason why I loved my time at Oak Grove was because of the amazing people and because of the backpacking/traveling. Every year in the high school, each grade would either go out backpacking in the High Sierras or venture out into foreign lands. Oak Grove opens a whole new door when it comes to cultural diversity. It is easy to befriend someone you never thought you'd meet with their international boarding program. Oak Grove is inclusive and accepting to everyone; I consider Oak Grove to be my second family. Oak Grove School has been such gift for our family. We began in the Early Childhood Program and our oldest is now in 8th grade. Oak Grove is a relationship based school that gives so much space for students to be their authentic self while also providing a safe place for them to take risks, ask questions, explore possibilities, stretch their knowledge and grow. In addition to the strong academics, my boys are learning about how to solve conflicts, share ideas, understand another's perspective, be part of a thoughtful community, care for the natural world, and more. The parent education program is amazing and covers topics like technology and social media, mindfulness, boundary setting, sexual health and wellness, conflict resolution, non-violent communication, and more. It is amazing to find a school where where depth over breadth, inquiry, and project-based learning are deeply valued. Not only does Oak Grove offer a college-prep high school program, but it also makes space for self-reflection, social and emotional growth, and personal exploration. The relationships between teachers and students in and out of the classroom allow for meaningful conversation and personalized instruction. I appreciate seeing students act as a family, supporting one another in discovering and being their true selves. Their flexible boarding program, home to both domestic and international students, adds to the diversity within the student population too. Oak Grove School is not just a beautiful campus, although it is that, it is so much more. The faculty and staff are immersed in its mission and honor children for who they uniquely are. Our boys, made life long friends in the children and adults at Oak Grove. They were asked to think, act and question along their learning journey. As parents we also found a community in which it felt safe and supported to raise our children. The thoughtful trips and camping experiences were fun, educational, and sometimes life changing like the final trip to India in the 12th grade. I joined Oak Grove School in 9th grade and I was warmly welcomed. The relationship between students and teachers are built on mutual RESPECT and reciprocity. Curriculum is tailored to each students need and is just challenging enough to motivate and help us grow our skills both academically and socially. This is the most beautiful place to learn. During Covid times, we are having class under the oak trees on our beautiful campus. Krishnamurti's teachings are closely examined in our 12th grade religious and ethics class as well as weaved into all for years of classes. I have one son who graduated from Oak Grove School two years ago and is now attending university. I am extremely happy that he was fortunate enough to receive an education at Oak Grove. Students are taught to think for themselves and are well prepared for life after graduating. My other son is still attending OGS and is in 6th grade, under the superb guidance of his teacher, Mary.
