The service was impeccably attentive. When it was time to cut the roast pig, the owner, Jose Maria appeared. We were gathered around to watch him deftly cut the pig with a plate into several servings. The cuchinillo was perfectly seasoned. The skin was thin and crispy and the flesh was moist and melt in your mouth tender. Everything we ordered was delicious! Later on, Jose Maria came to our table for a short chat and to indulge us with a few picture with him. This was a really special experience.

I had wanted to try this local delicacy without having to order an entire portion and this was the perfect compromise. Extremely tender, with a crunchy skin and potatoes on the side. I enjoyed it, and I'm so glad to have tried THE DISH of Segovia. My husband had the hake and was very pleased with it. For dessert I had the best rice pudding in the world. It was creamy, with a delicate orange flavor from orange peel, and a wonderful combination of cinnamon forward spices. It came with a scoop of ice cream which was good. BTW, the portion of mushroom risotto was huge and rich; a salad may be a better choice given the richness of the dessert. The wait staff is helpful but not fully engaged. I surveyed the selection and seem to migrate toward the pistachio gelato in Spain. A single scoop of pistachio was ordered and I quickly jumped into analysis mood. The flavor was cool but not cold. My scoop was melting as soon as she handed it to me. The flavor was fine but not great. I don't mind trying pistachio gelatos but this was not my favorite. Eccolo gelato has a nice venue, clean environment and hopefully a more flavorful and colder product.
