Had an overnight stop in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield and we didn't know anything about the town. The…read morehotel restaurant seemed too expensive so we went to Tio Luis based on the previous Yelp review. It's located in a spot we would never had ventured to but it was absolutely worth it. We had a table in the back patio and the whole place was very homey, mom and pop, and totally casual. Service was friendly and the menu was short but that's a good thing! The fajitas were served with warm corn tortillas, not flour tortillas - and that makes all the tasty difference! Chips were home made with love, and all the flavours were simply delicious and all made with great ingredients. The portions were huge and the kids were stuffed sharing a single order of chicken quesadilla. Oh, and their potato salad - which I normally dislike - was one of the best I've had. So. Good. The kids loved it, and they're really picky eaters. Next time we are in the area, we will definitely eat here again. Merci beaucoup!!

The guacamole was delicious, the tacos were great, the quesadilla was one of the best that I've had, and the beans could have been a meal all on their own. This was a very homey feel, sort of like having dinner over at your friends house. The owner was very nice, and let me practice my spanish, which I'm sure was quite painful for him.

Once you step inside, you will feel like you've teleported to Mexico!…read more Go straight to the hot table and check out the menu. Place your order, and find a seat. The food will be brought to you. At the side, there's a small salsa if you'd like additional condiments. We tried a plate of tacos and enchiladas. Incredible flavours! No wonder they have rolls of paper towels at each table. You'll need them! I can't wait to go back!

Extremely disappointing experience from beginning to end…read more The service was rude and unwelcoming. When I was about to ask where to pick up my order, the employee responded with, "Did you look over there?" with an unnecessary attitude. Then when I went to grab the order, the other employee couldn't even hand me the food, I literally had to lean over the counter to get it myself. No thank you, no smile, no basic customer service. Unfortunately, the food was just as disappointing. The tacos and burrito were extremely dry and had very little flavor. What really made this experience unacceptable was finding foreign objects in our food. My girlfriend found what appeared to be a piece of wood in one of her tacos and thankfully noticed it before biting into it. Then I found a long piece of hair in my burrito. At that point, it was honestly disgusting. I work as a videographer with restaurants and have eaten at many different places, and my girlfriend also does food reviews, so we experience a lot of restaurants. This was easily one of the worst experiences we've had. Bad service, disappointing food, and serious issues with what we found inside our meals. I definitely won't be coming back.

To access the menu you need to scan the QR code on the tables. It opens a menu with a lot of amazing drinks. Unfortunately because I was driving I did not get to enjoy any of them. However a pamplemousse Mojito sounds delicious. They also had six shots for $20 I believe. I wouldn't recommend going with a group of more than four people. The table do feel tight, especially when you like food and everybody is ordering a few things. I ordered the nacho for 4. It came with ground beef, cheese, tomatoes, sour cream and surprisingly guacamole. I said surprisingly because I'm not used to guacamole being serve without being extra. The size of the nachos was definitely not what you would expect for four people. It is definitely on the smaller side. Did not come with a side of salsa or sour cream. I was also surprised I didn't have jalapeño or anything that would make it spicy. We got burrito, quesadillas coming. Nice size would compare to a regular wrap size. Not one of those oversize burrito. The quesadillas also came wrapped as a burrito. Had a little side of salad with tomatoes and guacamole. I found them to be a little disappointing. Good but Not filled and tasty like they should. For dessert I got the gluten-free cheesecake. It was ok can't be mad this is a mexicain spot after all. Haha the spot is really cute they have a cute patio, and cute washroom just be careful the seat slips from side to side.

Bad service Not good for business family nor romantic…read morediner. We visited El Cactus in Shadowgate and unfortunately had a disappointing experience. The service was very slow -- it took a long time to get our drinks and even longer for our food to arrive. When the meal finally came, some of us were tired and lost appetite I also noticed the staff seemed disorganized and didn't check in on our table much. Our server seemed distracted and didn't check on our table much during our visit. We waited about 2 hours from the time we arrived until our food finally came. By then, we had lost our appetite. She never came by to acknowledge the long wait or apologize. I really wanted to enjoy the evening, but the lack of attention made it difficult. I really wanted to love this place, but the experience didn't match the expectations. I hope the team can improve their service speed and organization so future guests have a better time.
