They ask you to enjoy your food and drinks on the first floor. - Lots of seating areas sprinkled throughout the building - which is great! Easy to find a quiet empty area to work. - See a librarian to get access to the restroom, they need to buzz you in. They really try to bring the community in for cultural enrichment through film, author appearances, swaps, classes and more. Just recently, they hosted Tibetan monks who constructed a sand mandala over a few days' time - such a peaceful experience to watch them create such an intricate piece of work. The library itself is very clean, spacious, and the architecture is very modern - a unique contrast to the century-old buildings that sit just across the street from it. This library is a gem that everyone in this town can be proud of.

Of all the libraries I have frequented in all of the states I have lived in, this is without a…read moredoubt my favorite library. Its' version of quiet is my favorite. The natural light finds its' way in every place that you need it to; the three chapel/citadel steeple-folds furnish us with it. Each study nook(separate from the actual reservable study rooms) all have windows on either side of the table. Internet use, now just as necessary as books in any given library, is easy to obtain. Many, many, many desktops can be found without a pilot. How nice, and rather unexpected, as it were. Next, of course, is the staff. I have yet to find myself being served by a staff member who wears the "I-don't-give-a-sh*t" face draped over their head. Not here. I am more often than not delighted by the staff without asking to be. Book selection is fine, more than fine, really. The monthly theme welcomes you at the door, and again at the mouth of the books in the rear of the building. This is oft-accompanied by "staff picks", which is so fun. You can't really learn much if you stick to your own tastes. No growth is done in this way; the staff picks will help in growing the tastes of the hungry reader who doesn't know where to go next, but does know that staying with what they know just won't do. We love coming here because there's always something to do. They have read aloud time for the little ones, they offer a quiet area where you can study and also have a gaming room too. Of course my kids were excited and wanted to go in but keep in mind that there's certain times permitted. Staff are always so helpful. From the kids area, teens and upstairs at the customer service table, they're available to lend a helping hand. A bonus is that they offer a charging station for cell phones outside their building. This particular branch butts up to a beautiful park with water features, gardens and more. In fact, the second floor of this library provides a serene view of Civic Green Park, alongside cozy, well-cushioned armchairs tucked in bright corners and ergonomically friendly office chairs on wheels, facing broad desks for laptop use, backpacks and paper writing. The second hand bookstore upstairs often offers sales and it's a fun escape to browse the selection on hand. There are private conference rooms for studying, along with strong WiFi, as well as an enticing children's section with colorful play stations. My favorite time of year to visit is without a doubt the holiday season. The staff goes all out with themed Christmas trees stocked full of whimsy, wonder and inspiration. Parking can get tight, depending on calendar events, but there is overflow parking next door. The bathrooms are always clean and well stocked, on both the first and second floor. The website says book donations are encouraged, but unfortunately, we've found the staff to be quite unwelcoming when we've tried to donate books. They often seem reluctant to accept the books we bring in, which has been very different from our experiences at other Douglas County libraries, where the staff have been appreciative and helpful. Unfortunately, this has gone beyond just our experience with donating books, and it's become a pattern that has left us feeling unwelcome. Because of that, we'll continue driving to a farther library where we feel more comfortable.

This library even has an upstairs where there are magazines, cook books and the like. I like that they have private rooms for meetings or study groups and seats with a little more privacy. They have a bulletin board on all upcoming events. And online/ their website they have more resources. I want sure if I could rent magazines but there was plenty staff around. I had a very disappointing experience at the library today…read more I was printing a large set of documents when the printer jammed. I'm a teacher, so I'm very familiar with these exact printers and know how to clear a paper jam. However, I also understand that many businesses prefer employees to handle jams themselves to avoid damage, so I went to the front desk and politely said, "Hey, I just jammed the printer. Could someone help me?" The employee's response was simply, "So?" I honestly just stared at her because I couldn't believe it. I said, "I can unjam it, I guess," and she replied, "No, no." I then asked what would happen to my print job since it stopped in the middle of printing. I had already loaded $20 onto my printing card because I was printing a large number of documents. I wasn't worried about a few cents--I just wanted to know if the print job would resume or if I would have to send everything through again and be charged twice. Instead of answering my question, she laughed and said, "We'll refund your pennies." The issue was never about the money. It was about getting a simple question answered and being treated with basic respect. Her comment was rude, dismissive, and completely unprofessional. To make matters even more frustrating, it took nearly 40 minutes before I was able to finish printing my documents. As someone who has worked with these same printers for years in a school setting, I know a typical paper jam can usually be cleared and the printer back up and running in just a few minutes. Waiting that long wouldn't have bothered me nearly as much if someone had communicated what was going on or treated me with courtesy. I understand that machines malfunction. What I don't understand is treating patrons with sarcasm and dismissiveness when they're simply asking for help. Customer service costs nothing, and unfortunately this experience was one of the rudest I've had at a library.
