The machines are all brand new which sucks because a setting of "10" on a rowing machine in LA Fitness is like an "8" on a brand new machine, which means when you set it to "10" you're in for a real surprise on how hard you've got to pull. Heh. I'm just joking about it "sucking" on that last statement. Brand new equipment is awesome. Bottom line is this: if you're experienced in fitness, new to cross fit, beginning your fitness journey, or anywhere in that gamut, Fate's Forge CrossFit can accommodate you.

This is a long review so I'll start with the important part…read more.. This place is fantastic. If you want to better yourself, both physically and mentally, and be given the opportunity of feeling like you are a part of something... go here. Just go. Stop thinking about it, stop worrying if crossfit is for you, if it's safe for you, if you're too out of shape to go, just stop all that. Go. Just go. The owners (two of which are also the full-time coaches) are invested in this place and I don't just mean financially. They believe in what they do. You couldn't be in better hands than Coaches Jacqie and Ponce. They will do more than just get you in shape. They will motivate you, teach you, and inspire you. I've known Jacqie for a long time and her dedication to not just bettering herself, but also her clients, is rockstar quality. Owners Chris and Dan do most their leading behind the scenes and by example. You will see them busting their butts in class multiple times a week, investing themselves in a program they believe in. Both are stellar guys, the type of men you want in your corner. I have too many friends to mention that are athletes here (yes you may make a few friends) but Mettle and Honor is full of great people. Go.... Just go. Thanks for everything, Dr Joe

I have a big issue with patrons using their phones while on the equipment. I don't want to spend two hours working out because I have to constantly wait for machines occupied by scrollers. Another issue I have is that patrons leave their bag by machines and go talk to their friends, get water whatever. When you try to use the vacant machine, they come back and say they have two more sets. This drives me nuts. The gym is too crowed this. Another patron was slamming the weights constantly. Overall, I do like the facility and the staff but these issues are getting worse. If they can post big signs discouraging machine phone use, equipment slamming and equipment hogging that may be helpful.

There are NO nearby grocery store or gas station. but that should not effect your lake life relaxed stay. A bit South of Joliet, we had no idea how to get there, and were way out of our comfort zone in an adventurous sense. I was told that our friend had "plenty of beds" so surely this could not be a trailer home. To my surprise these deluxe double wides, or manufactures homes, are extremely nice. Many have large porches, garages, or 2 floors! A lot of the boat docks have coverings and winter storage options like lifting the boat directly out the water where it sits. This is a "speed boat" lake. A flooded strip mine that gets up to 100ft deep in the center. There is NO sand bar, or party cove. Only families with kids skiing, tubing, and cruising. The lake could not be more picturesque with a cute bridge, various channels and beautiful landscaping. We cannot wait to be invited back, and will keep an ear to the street when a property, complete with Boat, goes up for sale.
