The sitters vary but all are enthusiastic based on the reports they leave. After every visit the sitter leaves a note of when they came and left and what they did. They also usually text us an update and a picture of our birds. We come back to a stack of reports. The sitter stays a while after the food, water, and paper are changed to make sure the birds aren't acting weird, and I hear that some singing goes on. We've never had a problem and have be accommodated at very short notice when we want to go away for the weekend. I highly recommend this company. 1/27/20 Update: Just used them again during a ten day trip to Hawaii. I'm pretty sure our birds are in love with Alex, who came for most oF the visits. Now they are just stuck with us. As always, a great experience and we love being able to travel without any worries.

Could not have gone smoother! I'd also like to add that they were available with very short notice (3 other pet sitting companies were unable to handle our request). Also want to add that Stewart (when he came for the home visit) was wearing a mask and gloves to protect against COVID (a welcome sight). Nelson is a 1/3 cattle dog rescue. He is a busy boy and a great squirrel hunter. Premier DT got him turned around. He came home after 3 weeks so happy to show off all he learned and his knowing how to please us makes him a more pleasant member of the family. Given a choice, he would go live with his trainer Connor. No questions asked. He LOVES Connor. When he comes for boarding or on Connor's home visit Nelson was/is a puddle of love. We have continued to work with him on our own, using the commands, and now a year plus later he walks off leash most of the time, leaves squirrels and everything else on command and does the right thing 99% of the time.

Our very first interaction was great...his energy was wonderful...he did not disappoint! He was very methodical with his approach...explaining every step of the process...very engaging...constant updates of the Boyz progress...videos, photos...wait! The photos that I received were Ahhhhhhh-mazing, I mean impressive...only to learn that he's a photographer as well...but I digress. The Boyz are spoiled and I have no shame in stating this...*smile*. But they needed to learn manners. I have two large and very strong Standard Poodles - Mr. Brown and Max. They're extremely smart, pretty obedient in the house, but a huge challenge on walks...my poor dog walker. I wanted to be able to take them anywhere without the extended conversations of sit, stay, what are you doing? you know better... etc. At any rate, I'd been following OLK9 Maryland for some time online. I knew that training for two dogs was going to be a budget buster. Thankfully, I was able to take advantage of the "Black Friday" or "Cyber Monday" (can't remember which one it was). I cannot say enough about the great experience I had...the Boyz were happy to see Craig each day which was a HUGE relief for me. Yes, additional work/training on my part is required...to me that's a no brainer. As a responsible pet owner, I want to make sure that there is consistency and an expectation that my Boyz are well behaved and well mannered. Which means I have to do the work. Funny, as I was driving home from our final session, I was so tempted to take them on a short walk because I knew it would be enjoyable. But decided to wait until morning... I wasted over $1,000 to unknowingly abuse my dog through Off Leash K9. I sought help because my dog…read morewas reactive toward other dogs, loud vehicles, and people. I was desperate to help my dog and myself and Off Leash K9 had good reviews. What these folks didn't tell me was that my dog's reactivity, what I thought was outright aggression, was actually fear - that she was scared of all of these things and trying to protect herself from them. So with the use of the e-collar (really just a shock collar let's be honest), I punished her every time she showed a fear response at Off Leash K-9's direction. This definitely changed her behavior, but rather than helping her feel more comfortable with the things that scared her, we instead punished her for being afraid and taught her to hide her fear responses. I wish I had looked at the science behind dog behavior, because I now know research shows that punishment through things like e-collars, buzz collars, spray bottles, etc. are incredibly counterproductive to changing dog behavior long term and they seriously traumatize the dog. I'm so very grateful to have met a Fear Free trainer who taught me about positive reinforcement. It has improved my relationship with my dog immensely and it has ultimately lead to the sustained behavior change I was looking for. Please do not waste your money on abusive, ignorant training through Off Leash K9.

Our dog is quite nervous and anxious, but all of the walkers truly understand dogs and have been incredibly patient with her as she develops trust with new people. They knew how to make her comfortable. The benefit of using a company instead of Rover is that when one of the dog walkers moved on to a new career, the company had a new employee ready to take over so I didn't need to spend time searching for a replacement. Tails on Trails is very reliable and they take great care of the dogs. I'm not sure why some of these older reviews are negative, but that certainly hasn't been our experience at all.

They will leave a note about what your dog did and it's very easy to cancel walks if you end up staying home. Our dog is super friendly and sweet but not the best mannered - meaning she jumps and pulls sometimes on the leash and they've never mentioned it to us as a problem! When on vacation, we typically have one of the sitters (we use the same one typically who lives down the street), come pick up the dog and her food and she stays at their house. She is definitely well loved and taken care of and they've been great to communicate with. My only comment is that it can be expensive when you have the dog staying in one of their sitters' homes but our dog is part of the family and hates being home alone. So for us, it's worth it but others might find them coming to your house a little easier on the wallet. They also offer a service where you can have them take your dog to their grooming salon for a bath, nails, ears cleaned, etc. Very convenient for those of us who are too busy to do it ourselves!
