Dr Peter Lim is A gift to the Reno medical community who saved my health. I am an 18 year nurse in the Reno community who has thankfully had great health up until 2025 when a ruptured appendix left me with a complicated pelvic infection that had a mass like affect on my colon. Before all the infectious process that had taken place was understood, I went to the Renown ER desperate for help and was found to be septic, with a "mass" in my RLQ. They admitted me 8 days with few answers and eventually did an exploratory lap surgery that left me scarred, broken, with an ileostomy and the only answer they thought was cancer. I was lost and devastated. I was luckily referred to Dr Lim's team where quickly things turned around for me. Instead of doom I got hope; instead of confusion, I got answers and a plan. I got a thorough explanation from Dr Lim with him showing me my MRI and CT images helping explain what had happened, and what we can do. I got understanding, compassion, and a strong plan to forge forward and regain my body autonomy and health. I had a robotic hysterectomy, reversal of illeostomy, resection of mass that the ruptured appy left, and colon resection from the affected area in one surgery that went very smoothly. On the day of surgery, Dr Lim was calm, kind and confident with our plan which helped me be the same. It went better than I could have ever imagined. I am now two weeks out, and have my life, health and body back. I walked 5 miles today. I feel great. the complicated robotic surgery Dr Lim is able to do is truly life changing. The scarring was minimal, the pain minimal, and the outcome remarkable. I am still in awe. I wish he was the only surgeon I went to but am glad he could fix the damage from my presenting diagnosis as well as the initial surgery that left me broken. I trusted him with my life and am ever the richer because of it; I got my life back. He has world class robotic surgery knowledge amongst all his other medical expertise but that knowledge fixed my broken body with very little downtime or scarring. My wife was diagnosed with Uterine Cancer and after waiting for our local GYN Oncologist to get us in it was suggested that we go to Reno from sacramento and see him. Best decision we have ever made. I honestly can say Dr lim is the Best at what he does. my wife recently had surgery and we where both a total wreck but he came in calmed us down and took amazing care of my wife, he even knew how important it was to reunite us after the surgery and he personally walked me back to be with my wife, who does that, Dr lim did and we are beyond grateful. I was referred to Dr.Lim in February 2022 by my OBGYN as through an Ultrasound I received showed a mass in my ovaries. My appointment with Dr.Lim was on time and he very kind. He explained what he saw and said he wouldn't know if it was cancerous or not until he got in there. I told him to just take everything out because I was 64yrs old and didn't need ovaries or fallopian tubes anymore. He wasn't in a hurry with me and explained all procedures with regards to the DaVinci method. I felt secure with the fact that he would do whatever necessary to make and ensure my health. March 10, 2022 I had surgery and a complete and full Hysterectomy. Unfortunately for me I had stage 4 Ovarian cancer and it had gone into my liver and diaphragm. Dr.Lim spoke gently and kindly to my husband and explained to him the results BUT he also explained that he got 95% of the cancer via the DaVinci robotic arms. Two weeks after surgery I had my appointment with him and he took so much time with us and was so positive. He explained how chemo treatments worked, what to expect and how many I would have to receive. I obviously was scared out of my mind but he said "you can do this, you are strong and we are here for you." Everyone in his office was absolutely the best people I have ever had the pleasure of seeing every single month. From the nurses doing the chemo treatments to the front office and back office and the PA's I saw regularly. August of 2022 I was told by Dr.Lim that I am cancer free!!! I highly recommend Dr. Peter Lim / Gynecologic Oncologist - Reno. I found him to be very professional, courteous, patient, with a great bedside manner. His job is not easy, but I believe he genuinely cares about taking care of the issue and about the person he's dealing with. While addressing a barrage of questions, concerns and fears he put me at ease with the procedure explanation and empathy he had shown. Last Friday the office called to remind me of my appointment. Problem was my appointment was not for the day she said. I had to call back and let them know my appt was a different day. Red Flag... I did everything i was asked to do including arriving for my appt 15 mins early. Well I was first in the door at 8.00 am and was a little ticked because I drove an hour to make sure I was there 15 mins early.. Of course they dont open until 8.00 am so no 15 min early arrival time. At 9.10 I asked the nurse if I had the wrong appt time because the Dr still hadnt come in. At 930 I got up and left but not before telling front desk exactly why I was leaving. I still had to drive an hour to get back to work and did not have time to wait on a DR with staff that really didnt give a damn. Then after I left I get a call stating he was sorry and he was seeing other patients. Sorry Charlie, I had an appointment at 8, where were you. I sat for an hour and a half and no body even bothered to let me know he was running behind. I have to question whether this practice cares about me or my health because it sure didnt feel that way. Dr.lims office staff is very rude and then I was treated very poorly because of medicaid,. So if u have Medicaid expect to be treated like your have aids ,. They won't help u unless it suits their needs not it's as the patient. read more

I went to this office / doctor via a referral from Healthy NV (Renown) as I've been diagnosed w/a genetic disorder that is correlated to the development of uterine cancer. I had an appointment at this office for exam / consultation. I left this office having no confidence whatsoever in Dr Lim nor the way he runs his medical practice. I've now studied his medical reviews on-line. As of today, from 3 different sites, the overall average review for him / his office is 3.5 / 5. Not stellar. One reviewer had described his office staff / reception as "horrid" and I would concur w/that description. I was at his office early for my appointment. There was only one other patient there when I arrived. I waited over two (2) hours to finally be seen for a few minutes by Dr. Lim. When I asked the reception desk woman about the long wait, she was loud and extremely rude in basically telling me I just had to wait and that it would be worth it. It was Not. By the time I was called in for my appointment, there must have been 12 or more patients waiting to see the doctor. Unacceptable and no explanation. I understand some of these mostly older ladies waiting were probably in an extreme situation with diagnosed uterine cancer / treatment. Unfortunately, Dr. Lim appears to be the only game in town as he's the only gynocology - oncology specialist in our area. Any younger physicians with that specialty -- come to N NV / Reno coz we need you! I did not feel comfortable w/Dr. Lim's consultation with me about my rare genetic disorder. I'm not sure Dr. Lim actually knew much about it -- seemed like he was shooting in the dark when he recommended I have a hysterectomy. My PCP has given me referral names to two female gynocologists in Reno for a second opinion. Dr. Lim did a pelvic / pap exam while I was in his office. It is now 6 weeks past my appointment and I have Not rec'd those test results. I've just mailed off a letter to him requesting my test results as well as copies of the notes / records from my one visit to his office. I won't be returning. read more

I recently had a health issue that sent me to Dr. Lim. I arrived 10 minutes early for a 1:30 appointment. I was greeted kindly at the front desk and since I had completed the health history prior to my visit I took a seat. It's a small waiting room and somewhat claustrophobic. As I learned after the fact Dr. Lim always runs behind because he likes to give each of his patients the time they need. 1 and 1/2 hours later it was my turn. A very nice medical assistant took my vitals and the resident intern Dr. M (very difficult last name) came in and we chatted about my health history. She also did an exam. She was very kind and very thorough. After I got dressed Dr. Lim came in. He has a very calm kind demeanor. He asked me a number of questions and explained why he believes I do not have cancer of any kind but that I would have to have regular ultrasounds to monitor the issue for awhile. At no time did I feel he was rushing. He addressed all of my concerns. I am giving 4 stars for the inordinate wait time which I feel I should have been warned about and the sad little waiting area. I hope you will read all of my review. It is very detailed as I feel sharing EXACTLY what happened is better than generalities. My GYN recommended I go to Dr. Peter Lim for treatment for the mass she discovered on one of my ovaries. We were taken aback when we read all the reviews online. Strange, people seemed to either give him a 5 with raving reviews or a 1 with terrible reviews against him and his staff, especially Gina, his office mgr. I wondered if people's reviews reflected their own positive or negative outlook on life and treatment of others. We decided to keep the appointment and use it as a learning experience and then look for a different doctor afterwards. Gina always greeted us in a very professional, courteous manner. I did not detect a "rude or snarky" attitude as some people accused her of in any way. Yes, we did have a long wait, but that is often an indication that the doctor is good and willing to spend time with patients rather than pushing them through every 15 minutes like a bunch of cattle. When we finally were called back the PA took all our information in a professional, friendly manner. She raved about Dr. Lim. She said she loved working for him because he was an excellent, competent surgeon and was great to work for. When Dr. Lim entered, he greeted my husband and myself with a firm handshake and direct eye contact which made a first good impression. As he was explaining things to us he spoke in a deliberate, direct, concise and knowledgeable manner. His demeanor struck us as one of confidence, not arrogance. His confidence must come from performing over 4,000 da Vinci robotic-assisted laparoscopic surgeries during the past 20+ years. At one point I raised my hand to stop him so I could ask a question. He answered my question, asked if I understood and was it ok for him to continue. A few moments later while in the midst of explaining something else he stopped in mid-sentence and said, "You have another question don't you?" I was shocked. He already had me figured out! He simply saw the look on my face and he knew something had confused me and my hand was going to come up again! I have NEVER had a doctor who was so observant, cognizant of my needs, and patient in responding to my questions. He actually stopped a total of 3 times to ask me if I had another question before my hand could go up making a second GREAT impression. He also had a sense of humor, which we appreciated. At some point my husband, who is an excellent judge of character, looked at me and silently mouthed, "I like this guy! Go with him!" So, we scheduled my surgery then and there. Afterwards, Gina went over all the paper work regarding the upcoming surgery and directions with me, highlighting important points, making sure I understood everything. Her demeanor was professional and gentle. I felt like she was very cognizant of the fear I was feeling. She told me to not hesitate to call if I had ANY questions at all, because they wanted to help alleviate my anxiety. She told me that Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays were typically very busy days, while Thursdays and Fridays were calmer and if possible, she suggested I call on the two latter days because they would have more time to spend with me. Made total sense to me, so I honored her request. I called a total of 4 times over a 3 week period, asking if it was a convenient time. Depending upon who answered the call either Gina or Claudia spoke with me calmly answering all questions to my satisfaction. Prior to my surgery, a doctor who I use to go to in Reno, but moved to Oregon called me. She said Dr. Lim was an excellent doctor, the best in his field, and that I was in good hands. I was grateful to hear those words because they put me at ease. My surgery was on March 4, 2019. After surgery, Dr. Lim spoke with my husband and daughter, explaining all went well. He removed a mass the size of a grapefruit successfully and that initial pathology report came back benign! He explained that pathology would perform a full biopsy on everything that was removed to be sure no cancer was hiding. I had no complications and was discharged the same day. Dr. Lim was called away from the office the day of my 3 week checkup. The PA answered all my questions and said everything looked good. He told me only Dr. Lim was allowed to give me the results of the post-surgery biopsy. He said there was a pile of files with notes waiting for him so it may take him a week to get to mine. I was prepared for a long wait. That same day, Dr. Lim called me at home saying he didn't want me and my family to have to suffer waiting a long time for my final results. He happily explained no cancer was found! I thanked him for having the compassion to call me soon and told him I was grateful to him and his staff for the compassion and courtesy they showed me. Dr. Lim and staff were wonderful, caring people. I heard people complain about the wait time but to me he was worth the wait and spent as much time with me when it was my turn as I needed. He answered all of my questions, was kind and honest about my diagnosis and treatment. He performed surgery on me and let me know what to expect and was wonderful about keeping my worried family informed. I've now gone for follow up appointments and both he and the team he works with have been nothing but caring and sweet to me. Sad, sad and very sad. Not sure why he would tell my cousin her body was invaded with cancer like ISIS. Let me tell you the spirit you broke of an already tender human being was uncalled for Doctor Peter Lim. Aside the fact that your care as a cancer Doctor was pathetic. You allowed my cousin to go six months without treatment causing further cancer. Yes this family is upset, yes this family forgives you, however, it looks like you got Reno, Nevada sewn up.....the only cancer treatment Doctor.....hey now there should be more choices..your care is not competent. read more

On referral, Dr. Lim met with my wife and then brought me in to discuss options. He said she may have cancer and needed immediate surgery. After discussing options and the need for moving quickly, he left the room and sent in his "closer" to schedule surgery. She said they would need $2000 upfront before they would schedule.He is a provider for our insurance PPO with a deductible of only $300! We borrowed the money and paid them. Two months later, they have yet to refund the "mordida" even though insurance has paid them. The surgery went fine but the way he runs his business seems quite illegal to me. read more

This is one of the worst run office I have ever visited. The office staff is rude, they play on their cell phones as you wait to talk to them and they wait is ridiculous and they never even apologize for the wait. If I didn't have cancer and need to deal with this dr, I would never come back again. read more

I had a full hysterectomy in October 2016. I have had struggles with a couple things. Dr. Lim is excellent. He is very busy but he always tries his best for his patients. Fantastic doctor!! Specialist in his field. But as they say good doctors don't always have the best staff. I agree with that, but your life is worth dealing with the crabby front desk lady to see the best doctor. Dr Lim will answer all your questions, which has a tendency to make apps run late. Once I waited 5 hours but he did not rush me. They don't mind if you call 45 minutes before appt to check on time; of course I found out later. PA Emily is great also. read more

I had an appointment with Dr. Lim to discuss a 2nd opinion on having a laparoscopic procedure for Hydro Salpinx aka fluid filled fallopian tube. Dr. Lim took all of my circumstances into consideration and determined that it was not necessary for me to have this procedure. I trust his professional opinion because he took the time to go over my family history, genetics, what I wanted to achieve and the risks involved in having and not having the procedure. He tends to run behind on appointments, but I understand why. He takes the time to answer your questions and make sure you understand what to expect. read more

Let me start by saying I do not want to give Dr. Lim even one star. My last visit with him I thought I was going there to discuss a survival plan involving chemotherapy. He told me the results of biopsy was bad and I will die from this, it would take my life. My daughter ask if there were any clinal trials I could be involved in, his answer was they are all coming to an end. I said my radiation oncologist told me this was not a death sentence. He said I don't why she would say that, does she know you have metatastic cancer? There is no cure. I said the pet/ct scan only lit up in two places in my lymph nodes. He said he would be stupid to think it traveled through my whole body and only ended up in two places. He said it's like Isis, it's everywhere. He said I'm not here to burst your bubble, I'm not the Grim Reaper. He told me the tumor on cervix could grow and press up against my kidneys and cause kidney failure, which is not a bad way to go, he said I would just go to sleep and not wake up. He told me the cancer in a lymph node in neck could grow big enough to cause aneurism or a stroke or heart attack. My daughter mustarded up enough energy to ask if there was any chemotherapy I could have. He said you feel pretty good now right?, I'm not trying to talk you out of it or anything but you will lose your hair your kidneys could fail, take your time to think about it, take your time it doesn't matter. There was a young lady in the room also, a student Doctor, I can't not remember her name but I hope she never breaks a cancer patients spirit like she watched Dr. Peter Lim do to mine that day. I have ptsd and a anxiety disorder and fighting past him killing me that day. Center of hopelessness. I am so scared of him and would never return to his office if a gun was held to my head.
