I wasn't sure exactly what I was looking for when I called, but she talked me through what they had and the options recommended. The final product was a gorgeous succulent garden, and they picked out the perfect planter to complement the plants. My friend loved it, and they'll be a great addition to her plants already at home. Roots In Bloom will definitely be my go-to for Cedar Rapids area flowers and plants going forward.

Holy houseplants! My…read moreSIL and I scored big here on Saturday during Pierson's 50% off houseplant/cacti/succulent sale. I grabbed some plant varieties I'm familiar with and some I'm not. It would be extremely helpful if every plant at Pierson's had some sort of identification/care instructions on or in them; most do not. If you're a plant newbie, you should ask staff for assistance. Pricing also wasn't very clear to me - as there were signs that said 3" pots = $5.99 and 4" pots = $6.99 (not sure about exact pricing, just using those as an example). Larger house plants and plants in hanging baskets were clearly marked, but it appears that the plants arriving in flats don't get priced individually. There are pricing signs at the end of each aisle, but I just found myself continually asking, "is this 3" or 4"?" The selection is amazing, pricing more than fair and the customer service was great. Pierson's was recommend by one of my SIL's coworkers and they did not disappoint. 5/5 for selection and customer service. 3/5 for plant identification and care guidelines. Would be curious to see if the Blairsferry Rd. location has a similar houseplant department. I'll definitely revisit when they get another shipment Hindu Rope Hoyas.

However, their hanging plants remain my favorite flora to buy. The worst part about shopping is when I have to stop looking when I run out of time and JUST DECIDE! (Neither of us know much about flowers or event decor and she was helpful in making recommendations based on our vision and venue). She was easy to communicate with throughout the planning process and very straightforward (and reasonable) with her pricing - we didn't have any surprise add on costs! On our wedding day she was punctual and did a great job setting everything up at the venue herself. We had bud vases on the tables, a few arrangements throughout the ceremony and reception space, and she supplemented the arch at the vineyard with extra greenery and flowers (picture below!). My bouquet was beautiful and just what I envisioned after showing her inspiration pictures as well as our color scheme. I was very impressed with her attention to detail and quality of work. We were able to get everything we envisioned for our wedding florals without spending an arm and a leg! Thank you Caroline!
