Antonio is a sweet old guy who moved here and lived the American dream; now the changing neighborhood means his shop has a lot less customers. I didn't get the greatest haircut ever, but I didn't pay for that, either. I got a solid haircut from a decent man with old-school skills, plus a friendly chat, all for about twelve bucks, plus tip. Give Antonio a shot if you're in the neighborhood; I'm sure he'd appreciate it.

Biggest waste of my time today…read more I get there at 9:50AM and they are already opened. I walk in on a Saturday and there is only one lady barber working. That should have been a red flag already. It's my first time there and she doesn't even ask me any specifics on what I am trying to get done or communicate to me if or when my son would be able to get a haircut. There was one guy in the chair and one guy waiting. The lady tells me it "won't be long". Before she is even done with the first guy a kid walks in and she says she is gonna take him before my son. So now she is working on the second guy, and the kid is waiting. Then another gentleman walks in and she says she is gonna take him after the kid. WTF? So I ask her if she is the only barber working today. She said no. No other explanation. She was very short with me and honestly acts like she has an attitude. So I am waiting and getting frustrated. It's now 10:51am And I left. I understand it's a Saturday, but if you knew you had all those appointments when I waked in a common courtesy would have been appreciated. Luckily I found a barber a half mile away that I told I would pay double just to take my son in for me for an appointment at 12pm. My whole morning wasted.

Place is small and seems to have customers quick after opening (went in on a Saturday early) but during my visit the two barbers moved quick enough so it felt like the wait was short. The guy that took me did a great job with the haircut so I am leaning on going back. Great fade and conversation. Only thing I was not satisfied with was the price. It was $20 which is not expensive whatsoever but their board said $15 and made me feel like the price was just thrown out there once finished. $20 is a bargain but just post the right price rather then feel like it was said since being a new person walking In. Other then that the talent is good.

A Royal Cut Every Time…read more Just got my second cut from Amasai Holden at Crown Royal Barber, and I'm officially a fan. From day one, he brought techniques I've never seen used before -- like hitting my beard with a hot iron to straighten it before trimming ( game changer). That move alone kept my beard looking sharp for days longer. This visit, he leveled up my hairline with fibers and holding spray -- something I've had done before, but never this precise or long-lasting. Dude added that "extra sauce" that had me walking out like a brand new man. The shop is clean, in a great area right near my office, and super convenient. I walked in the first time with no wait, and the second time, I booked an appointment -- showed up early and Amasai was already ready to go. No waiting, no hassle. Just top-tier service and professionalism. If you want a fresh cut with elevated technique in a polished space, Amasai's your guy. Highly recommend.

Once he finished, which was in less than 15 mins, I attempted to pay by debit card on square, as the sign on the door reads- only to learn that *he* doesn't accept square. Before heading to the gas station ATM, I asked about the cost, which was, according to my husband, 17 bucks- the barber told me 20...and that's what he charged me to CLEAN up my TWO yr old's Mohawk - a cut he's been rocking for 8 months now. I can't understand how cutting the sides lower and trimming the top can cost the same as if he shaped the entire head. Never again, from this dude, who by the way wasn't the friendliest, not even with my son. And the slim guy next to him is more precise... DISHONEST, and OVER PRICED. I try so hard to support Black owned businesses, but yet again... Update: I see that Tye had his "friend" write a review, referencing mine...how incredibly unprofessional. *IF* he, or she read (or can read), you'd see that he charged me $20 for a $17 mohawk that was in fact just a SHAPE UP. Word to the wise Tye, address my review yourself, don't get your "peeps" to comment on *my* experience. Is this a beauty salon, or a barber shop?
