We planned this proposal for about a month with Corey and specifically discussed capturing the actual proposal moment. Unfortunately, the photographer missed a significant part of it and only started recording after my proposal was already underway. This was a once-in-a-lifetime moment that cannot be recreated. The photos themselves were also extremely disappointing. Our faces had heavy, distracting shadows even though this was a summer daytime shoot. We received fewer photos than we expected based on what was promised, and the quality was below what we were expecting. The photographer's attitude made the experience worse. He arrived without even saying hello and left without saying goodbye. For something as personal and important as a proposal, the entire interaction felt cold and unprofessional. When we complained, Corey defended the photographer rather than finding a meaningful way to make things right. After we posted our experience on Yelp, the situation turned into arguments over our review and requests that we remove it. What bothered me most was that there seemed to be more effort put into getting the negative review removed than into resolving why we were unhappy in the first place. We also paid through Venmo, which left us with very limited options when we were unhappy with the service. Based on my experience, I would strongly recommend using a payment method that provides purchase protection when hiring any photographer for an important event. Four years later, this still bothers us. Instead of having beautiful photos that bring back a happy memory, we look at them and remember how badly such an important moment was captured. I am not removing my review simply because the business does not like it. This is my experience and my opinion as a customer. For an event that only happens once, I would not trust OC Event Photos again.

I worked in production for a long time and had no shortage of potential wedding photographers, but the decision to go with OC Event Photos was a super easy one. He and his crew were on time (early, actually!) and he took calls with me before the wedding to ensure things were lined up properly. At the wedding, he was both fun to hang out with and also a brilliant photographer. Then, after the wedding, he turned around the photos quickly and they looked AMAZING. He is a great editor also (v important). Listen. Your wedding will go by in a flaaaash. It's cool to cut corners on many, many wedding related things (who needs personalized napkins like are you serious) but do not skimp on the photographer(s). Your photos are your only tangible takeaway from the entire experience. They will open doors for memory and closeness and conversation forever. Go with a legit company -- actually just go with OC.
