The worst experience I have ever had. The technician took over two hours to arrive, and when I called to get an ETA, my calls were hung up on twice. When the technician finally showed up, he refused to provide the service simply because I asked about the dropped calls. This was extremely unprofessional and frustrating. After reading all of these reviews, I was really nervous when I was matched to this company through GEICO when my car wouldn't start. This happened on Christmas Day, but I figured I would leave it alone until the next day to lessen the load on Christmas. I asked for roadside assistance at approximately 6:15 in the morning, lightning said that they would be there about 7:25 AM. Jose called me at 7 o'clock saying that he was 12 minutes away. I met him at my car and he jumped it and it started right away. He said if I wanted to, he could change the battery for me now and it would be $238. I told him no thank you and he said have a great day and walked away. He did not refuse to jump my car, he did not repeatedly try to sell me anything, he was there and gone in about five minutes and perfectly pleasant and professional. Geico's roadside assistance to the rescue. Using their app, which geolocated me and got my coverage details, they sent an immediate text that it would be 60 minutes. My technician arrived in a marked vehicle in only 30. Amazing under promise and over deliver. He pulled out the jack and a tire iron, changed the tire, put the flat one into the truck and was done. This company has some of the worst customer service I have ever experienced from business in my life. I was matched with this company through Geico roadside for a jumpstart on my car due to it not starting. Upon arriving it was indicated that the issue with the car was probably the car battery. They offered to replace the battery with a new one but not being sure if that was the issue I was hesitant. It was explained to me that a purchased battery from them came with a 2 year no worry warranty, which eased my concerns, and I went through with the purchase. A few days later the car would not start once again. I then took the vehicle to the dealership where the problem was diagnosed but they also stated that the newly purchased battery was dead and needed to be replaced. I then contacted lightning to let them know that I would be needing a new battery due to the recently purchased battery now being dead. I was immediately told by management that I needed to contact Geico to set up another jumpstart in order for them to come out to address my battery issue. I explained to them that I did not need a jumpstart and that I simply needed a replacement battery for the dead one as I well within the 2 year warranty. Management then stated they would call me back in five mins with a resolution. Almost 24 hours later and not having received a returned call I again contacted Lightning and explained my issue to the same person in the office who once again stated that I needed to contact Geico to set up a new claim for a jump for them to come out to test the battery. After explaining again that this is not an issue that involves Geico at this point I simply wanted them to honor the warranty on the battery that they sold to me I was put on hold. After returning to the phone and more back and forth I was told that they would come out to test/replace the battery but there would be a delivery and install fee for the replacement battery. I indicated that not only was a delivery or install fee not explained as part of the warranty but I did not need either installation or delivery, I simply needed a new battery as I was entitled to as part of the warranty. I was then put on hold again. Upon return to the phone I was told the delivery/install fee would be waived and management then hung up the phone in my face. At the end of the day, they did replace the battery but having to pull teeth to get them to honor a warranty they sold me on was very frustrating. Not to mention trying to nickel and dime extra money as well as hanging up the phone on customers is absurd to me. However, took more than 20-30 minutes for tire change. Front driver side (left) wheel hub has threads all worn out- WHEEL HUB needs to be replaced. Was damaged by roadside assistance company, Lightning Roadside, who replaced the spare tire using my flat tire's original 21"wheel lug nuts (instead of the spare tire lug nuts) and wore down inside threads on wheel hub. I immediately called them to clarify our location, and the man sounded strangely uninterested in our case. Horrible service. Took the technician well over an hour to get to me. Called for a car battery installation thru Geico. Service technician had an attitude from the start and clearly did not want to work by trying to rush the job. He at first jumped the battery but as soon as I turned off the car the battery would not restart. Asked to install a new battery. However, it was hard to understand him because of his heavy accent and mumbling. I asked him to slow down when speaking to hear him better. He attempted to install the battery but had difficulty securing it in place because it's an older car. When turning on the engine the car was badly shaking, which I told him something was wrong. He did not care and argued with me that it was fine. I took a look myself and noticed that the battery was not secured and very wobbly. I asked him to better secure it so as to avoid damaging the battery terminals and other parts of the car. That's when he became even more frustrated and started verbally insulting me because he had to uninstall and properly reinstall the battery, which took a little more effort and time. Was originally quoted a 60 minute wait time but was pleasantly surprised when their dispatcher called within 20 minutes to let me know the technician would arrive within the next 5 minutes. I used a web application named Urgently, in which Lightning Roadside Assistance was the dispatch driver to provide a jump start for a family member. First attempt, they accepted the job, gave 15 minute estimate, and never showed up. I tried again with Urgently, and they sent me Lightning Roadside Assistance for a second time. They claimed by text they would be there in thirty minutes, yet did not answer the phone. After thirty five minutes, they sent a text indicated they would be there in another 45 minutes! I attempted to contact the driver by phone and was given a wrong number by them. I then contacted Urgently and their record indicated that the driver could not find the car, though the driver's GPS did not indicate that they even left their dispatch location and they never attempted the contact number. Urgently contacted the dispatcher, who claimed they would be there in ten minutes. A half hour later, they still hadn't shown up and I'd already signed up with AAA and had them on the way. Do not use this garbage company! They will accept your business, make you wait, won't even show up. Sign up for AAA online and you can get service quicker for considerably cheaper. read more

All of the bad reviews here are completely honest. Last night I locked my keys in my car and called GEICO to send me roadside assistance lockout service right away. The call was made at 7:25 PM, ETA was 8:25 PM. I went into my gym and did a work out until closing -- 8 PM. I assumed I only had 25 minutes before he came. 25 minutes roll around, nothing. I call the service provider and the lady over the phone says he's finishing up another job and will be there in 15. Ok. I wait another 15 and he does not show. I call the lady back and she is friendly, says she will look into it, and has to put me on hold. Ok. I'm then placed on hold for FIFTEEN MINUTES. I hang up and call GEICO directly. Rep calls them, gets back to me and says first tech had car troubles and they dispatched someone else that would be there another 15. This rep also filed a complaint for me because I was upset by the lack of communication (being on hold for 15 min while I'm stranded in my gym parking lot as it gets darker and darker in the Hauppauge industrial park...). I get a call from the driver saying he's finishing up in Deer Park and he will be there in 15. Gets even better. I continue to wait another 15-20 minutes, nothing. He doesn't show. I call back GEICO. This is now 2 hours and 30 minutes since I put in the original call for roadside assistance. I call back GEICO and the rep contacts the company again. GEICO rep tells me the company has given her times that don't add up and she knows I'm not lying. GEICO rep says he called her and said he'll be at my destination in 2 min. Rep says she will stay on the phone with me until he comes. He doesn't arrive in 2 min but instead 4 min. It's now almost three hours since I placed the original request, and he appears. I WISH I could say it stops there. The driver that cames, I do not know his name, as in if it really was Edgar as I was told by the receptionist at their office, and looks at my car. The sunroof was tilted open and so the windows were open (I have rain deflectors so you can't see but you could definitely stick things in at the right angle). He doesn't bother. He instead proceeds to take out the bag and applies pressure to the door and tries to open the door with the hook by using the handle inside. He then asks me twice, "the door handles don't open the doors?" and I have to repeat twice, "it's locked" before he says "that's what I wanted to know". I don't even know lol. Finally he unlocks the door by using the button on the panel and I get in. My car alarm went off but that's normal, the theft protection was on. I am just blown away by the carelessness, incompetence, and dishonesty of this company. If you ever see their name on your service provider contact GEICO immediately and get rid of these imbeciles. They don't care about leaving you in danger or stranded. read more

I was out shopping and had an issue starting my car. Called my husband and called Lightning Roadside Assistance. The driver and my husband both arrived at the same time. The driver also attempted to get the car going before we had to take it to my mechanic. No luck. We then took the car to the people I normally use for repairs and parked it overnight. All of this occurred on a Sunday afternoon. The driver was friendly, courteous, and arrived quickly. I appreciated the attempts to get the car going prior to towing it. I wouldn't recommend you call these guys as the guy who came to give me a jumpstart wouldn't listen to me when I said it will take two jumper cables (the portable battery one as well as the jumper cables attached to his car) in order to jump my vehicle. I just had one of the worst experiences with this company without ever receiving their service. They had me wait 2 and a 1/2 hours, no joke, for assistance. After numerous calls to their call center or whomever is attending the lines, as useless and unhelpful as their so-called roadside assistance, I was told that the person that was on his way to me had the car breakdown! Unreal! And instead of being honest about it, they lied and told me he was on another service call. Needless to say, I will never interact with this company ever again. P.S. After consulting with the local police dispatcher who pointed me to triple AAA. Unfortunately I don't think this review will really help to many people, because it seems like Lightning Roadside is usually dispatched by a third party. This was also the case in by situation. I bought a new car battery through Pep Boys, and 6 months later my car was stuck on the side of the road from what appeared to be a dead battery. One of the Pep Boys store workers told me that their 800 number would be able to help me. Without many other options I was forced to pay Pep Boys $65 for a jump, and only after payment was received they told me I had to wait TWO HOURS for lightning roadside to show up. When the "technician" finally showed up in his personal car he was unable to help me. My car would start with a basic jump, and seeing how the "tech" was in his own personal vehicle there was nothing else he could do to help me.... 2 hours and $65 later. If I could give a zero, I would but I guess 1 star would be the best I could do at this point. I was referred to them by GEICO. After explaining to them I was robbed and I was looking for a locksmith that could do the key AND remote, I was told they were able to do both for $399. The driver arrives and he only the key, which was not what I was told. I was then told that he would meet me tomorrow - Monday with my remote. It is now Wednesday afternoon. I was charged $275 for him to cut a key and pull a fuse when the dealer charges $25. Every call back to them results in a different runaround. i.e. we told you we would have it tomorrow, then it takes 48/72 hours, now no one knows what we are talking about. Additionally, I am supposed to receive a receipt. Have requested it be emailed to me since Sunday. As to date, nothing but out of the $275 they charged me for a key. The dealer - $250 for key AND REMOTE. They are a scam. read more
