This company is awful. I called for a jump start yesterday. They gave me an estimated wait time of 75 minutes. Why was it that long for a simple jump start? because I wasnt that important or it wasnt an emergency? I missed a Wake because they couldnt get to me. 75 minutes came and still no one. I called at 6:30 after the 75 minutes and they told me it would be ANOTHER 30. Still no one showed up and it was around 7:30 at this point. Thankfully someone was able to give me a jump at my office. I'm surprised at all the bad reviews. I used them through All-State. I was contacted immediately by the office. The woman was friendly and professional while explaining the process. Damien, the tech, arrived before the ETA. He was knowledgeable, polite and friendly. I didn't need a jump after all. He was able to get the SUV started. I know most people won't see this until it's too late because when you call Geico roadside, this is the contractor they send. Lightning came quickly, but I should've known from their initial confirmation phone call that they were just looking to sell me a new battery. I needed to get my car jump started and drive it over to the mechanic, that installed my battery less than a year ago. The Lightning tech pulled out this little teeny battery jump pack, (I think my phone charger has more juice) and he connected it and told me my battery was so dead it won't ever start again. He proceeded to tell me that I likely need a new battery and luckily he has one for $135. I pulled a receipt from my glove compartment to show him that the current battery is less than a year old, and I was gonna replace under warranty if needed. Tech lost interest and said there's nothing else he could do so I called Geico back and they sent a tow truck. (2.5 hours later, but that's another story) funny thing is the tow company brought out a real big professional battery jump starter and wouldn't you know... the car started up in 2 seconds!! All in all this wasted 4 hours because lightning refused to do what they were contracted for! I am filing a complaint today with the GEICO district supervisor. read more

I called roadside assistance through Hertz car sales, and they dispatched lightning roadside assistance to help me with a flat tire. I received a call telling me it would be an hour and my knight in shining armor Aaron arrived about 20 mins later. He was SUPER friendly, and had me good to go in what felt like no time at all. We chatted while he was putting my spare on and he totally lifted my spirits. I thought this was going to be a nightmare since my roadside provided by Hertz had expired, but the out of pocket wasn't terrible, especially given how prompt the service was. First time I ever had to use Geico roadside assistance. Used the app which was extremely fast. It immediately texted me that Lightening Roadside Assistance was notified and someone would be there in an hour for my flat tire. A dispatch at Lightening called about thirty minutes later to tell me someone would be there in the next half hour. The app was great with keeping me posted on their progress. A gentleman by the name of Charlie showed up and was friendly and ready to help. He did everything at a quick pace, even getting my spare down from the contraption under my car. Within 15 minutes Charlie was done, my spare was on and I was heading home. I couldn't be more impressed and pleased. read more

There is a huge pot hole on Stewart Avenue passing the chase bank near Roosevelt field mall in Garden City !! PLEASE BEWARE , I would not want this happening to anyone. Of course i ended up getting a flat tire...This company was sent to me by my dealer Toyota. These guys are beyond awful. My car company should be held accountable for using such a terrible company. And, I have lodged a complaint. I was stranded with a flat tire. I received a text with an ETA of 11:41 PM. I call the dispatcher at 12:07 AM and the guy tells me that the driver tried to call me and I didn't answer...so the repair was cancelled. I was sitting there holding my phone waiting for the call!! How is that even possible?!?! THEN, the dispatcher tells me that the driver will call me right back at the same number (which I confirmed to be correct), and I still never heard from the driver! When I called back AGAIN the driver says "I won't be there for 30 min because you already cancelled the call and now I need to turn around and come back." read more

This company uses shady technicians. After working a 12 hour shift I went to my car to learn that the battery was dead. My car insurance dispatched this company to restart the dead battery. They arrived very promptly, within 20-25 minutes. Two men arrived on the scene. After inspection of the battery, one of the techs noted that the battery was in very bad condition, to which I agreed. They offered to install a new battery right on the spot. I now realize, that the person who did most of the talking was an associate of the tech, and not the actual tech. He kept telling me I could just tip them for the work and "that's it." This was contrary to the person I spoke with over the phone from the company, who quoted me $190 for the battery, installation and taxes. Now, I realize they were trying to confused me all along. I had asked the person on the phone if I should pay over the phone now, he said no, at completion of the job. When the guys finished installing the new battery, again one of them said that I could just give them a little something for installing the battery. Wanting clarification, I asked " So I don't have to pay the $190 for the battery?" Because the way he spoke, implied otherwise. He said no. Confused, I asked what do I do when the company calls, he said, "tell them we did a good job." Then they left. I assumed, they must have gotten the battery change covered by my insurance. Why else would I not have to pay them directly for the battery? Shortly after, while I was on the road driving, I was called by the company who was attempting to obtain payment. But, because I was driving I had been unable to get to the phone. By this time, one of the guys called me directly telling me the company was trying to reach me to obtain payment. I said, but I was told by you guys, I wouldn't have to pay for the battery. The guy became belligerent on the phone. I had to tell him not address me that way. When I tried to ascertain which one of the guys I was speaking to. He simply shouted,"I'm the tech who installed the battery in your car!" As if he had been alone all along. I told him and the company guy, I wanted the money I gave them at the recommendation of the guy saying, I didn't have to pay the $190 and could just give them a little something for the work. I then paid over the phone the $190 that was originally quoted to me. I then had to turn around, meet them in front of my job. And I got my cash back that I had given the two techs. Or rather, the one tech and his friend. My next move is to report this company to State Farm. Who needs someone trying to take advantage of them in that type of situation? Despicable. Lightning Roadside did a very good job at assisting me when I needed my tire changed in Westbury. I called Geico to help me out and they sent out Lightning Roadside with a 40 minute ETA. Geico gave me the number I can reach Lightning Roadside so I gave them a call and the dispatcher was very nice and made me feel safe. Then about 25 minutes later I received a call from the technician Michael who told me he'd be there in about 5 minutes, and he was. Michael was very polite, respectful, and changed my tire quickly. On March 01,20 I needed help to jump start my car. Geico sent this company.The response was quick.The dispatcher told me that Geico is running a promotion on Exide batteries and that Geico is giving a discount of$ 75 and the battery is with 3 years guarantee.The person who came was late but started the car in no time.He told the existing battery is no good and if I need to change, it is a good time BECAUSE OF THE PROMOTION and that he can change it in less than thirty minutes. He changed the battery and took the payment and went.Next day I realized the battery was not Exide and it was some ordinary brand.I called them and told them to at least send me the invoice so that I can claim guarantee in case needed. I am waiting till now for the invoice.the battery needs jump start in less than a month Checked with Geico about promotion.They told they never ran a promotion like that. This company was dispatched to us by our roadside assistance program (3rd party). Our roadside assistance explained to Lightning that we broke our key in our car door and needed a flat bed tow truck as our key needed a Mercedes code and laser cut. A Lightning employee showed up in his personal vehicle and said he couldn't help. I recorded him on video stating that our roadside assistance did not tell them what we needed. However, that conversation was recorded as well. This company was dishonest with us and we have recorded proof. We have reported them and my roadside assistance company has removed them from their service request list. read more

If I can give this company ZERO stars I would. They were contacted at 4:45 am to assist in jumping my battery in my car. We were told that they would arrive to my location at 6:06. At 5:45 they informed geico that that the driver they were sending out car broke down and we would have to wait another 45 min. At 6:06 we were told by them that they could not find the second driver that was suppose to be coming to our aid. Geico was called and tried to get in contact with them and they told geico that that they would have to send a 3 rd driver out and it would be yet another 45 minutes. If they know that they are unable to do a job , they should inform geico that they can not pick up the call. Any positive review this company has must be a fluke. I went out to my car tonight after work and it wouldn't start, so I called my insurance company to get roadside assistance and had the great misfortune of being paired with Lightning Roadside. I was luckily next to my office, so I got to wait in warmth and comfort. But, I shudder to think what it would have been like if I was stranded without assistance for going on 3 hours now without a place to take shelter in. I am beyond amazed that every time I called to check on the time of arrival I was met with such a cavalier attitude. "Oh, well we only have one technician so it's probably going to be another half hour to 45 minutes." "Well, idk maybe another 10-15 minutes." Not a single apology was issued to me from this company. Only my insurance representatives were kind enough to empathize with this situation. It is completely ridiculous to wait 3 HOURS for a jump start. It is ridiculous to wait that amount of time for any roadside assistance. I have asked my insurance company to take Lightning Roadside off their list of tow companies, but, please, if you see the positive reviews ignore them. All you will be met with is misery and a test of your patience if you use this company. Save yourself the aggravation, because every other negative review is accurate. The person that finally arrived was competent, professional and courteous (deserved a 3 or 4). The overall service was really poor. The original time estimate was a bit long but acceptable, they did not contact me when that estimate was going to be missed by over an hour. Eventually, they sent a car without any identification noting the service company name - meaning it could have been anyone pulling up. We were in a busy location before dark, I would have been concerned if I was stuck in a remote area as we were left stranded for a long time and it would be obvious to a casual observer which made us very vulnerable. The excuse offered was a lame one, like other reviews have noted. When the person arrived, I asked where he was dispatched from - it was far. And when I asked where the first person that was due was coming from he said, "what other guy?". Basically, Lightning Roadside Assistance is a poor quality organization. read more

Today Feb 11 2019 car wouldn't start AAA came to jump and asked when I purchased the battery, told him 2017. He said sticker on battery shows 2016 Called Lightning they told me there was nothing they can do warranty was for 2 years and expired last month.. How convenient that last month the warranty expired. Seriously? Even explaining the date on battery. Nothing they can do. Told me to call battery manufacturer. I totally understand the negative reviews since the same situation have happened to me in the past when calling various roadside assistance places for flat tires in dangerous places. Usually I expect to wait at least twice as long as what dispatch tells me. However this time I was very surprised that someone came in less than 45 minutes and helped change my flat tire. The guy who came was friendly and even gave me a little bit of car advice. He changed my tire in about 5 minutes. So I know this review doesn't fit in with the others, and I'm surprised myself, but I guess everyone has their good and bad days. I had a great experience with this place. read more
