Since we would be going home in a few days, we looked for an auto repair place convenient to us. Automotive repair shops are always a scary proposition as who know who is honest and who isn't. After checking out my trusty YELP, I came across Jeff. I called and he immediately responded. He said that he had several cars to look at but to text him about my car and situation so that he wouldn't forget about me. Several hours later (which I was fine with), he told me to come the next day at 10 am. When I arrived, Jeff immediately looked at my car and said it was my exhaust system and could need a new one. He said he did not do that but had someone around the corner who could do that. He then hopped on the dolly and looked under my car and said the exhaust must have dislodged when we went through the water puddle. He said he could weld it for us and the charge was only $70. I thought this automotive visit could easily been a big downer for our vacation but Jeff was honest and efficient and made a great experience. If you are on vacation or a native, use Jeff. The very nice lady in the front office told me that her husband and son JImmy do the repairs and that if it would be a simple repair that wouldn't take too much time they could handle. But, if it were a more extensive repair like an intake gasket or other major engine work they would have to refer me to a shop over on Hatteras Island. I dropped off the car and they said they would let me know in a few hours what the situation looked like. I stopped by after lunch and was told it was a water pump and that she had already ordered the correct part and they would have it completed by end of the next day. I showed up the end of the next day and it was done and at a very reasonable price. Great service. Great Price. I would not hesitate to have them work on my car ever.

Brilliantly, she offered they don't automatically replace the rotors -which is a wonderful high profit job for the usual shops, but often not necessary. That was beyond refreshing. The closest Honda dealer to Kill Devil Hills said they could schedule me for five days later. Luckily, a local told me about Marshall. The best way I can summarize this is, if you're in the OBX and need a mechanic, call Marshall.
