I dreaded the fact that I would have to hire an attorney because of the unknown - were they competent? Would they work with you and show compassion in a tough situation? Would you feel at the end of the case they did a good job, enough to say you would hire them again? Would I feel like their fee was earned? After being a paralegal for 20 years and working for and around attorneys; and after having an issue that took almost 5 years to get through in another state, I dreaded it. I hired Barrett on a referral from his Law Partner. I was skeptical at first because I was in Collin County and Barrett was in Waco. We used Barrett for my husbands criminal court and he was very easy to deal with. My hubs went to jail on a felony revocation for violating probation and Barrett actually talked to the DA and was able to get my hubs out on bail, then was able to get the court to push back the court date a couple of time since we wanted my hubs to be present for the birth of our child. He also talked to the DA and was able to make a better offer on my hubs sentencing. I would very much recommend Barrett Thomas for a criminal attorney. Mr Thomas worked harder for me during a sentencing hearing than my previous lawyer did during an entire jury trial. He was thorough and quick witted when arguing against the ADA.
