The staff is very friendly and helpful and there is usually vendors assisting throughout the store. The management changed about a year or so ago and the new manager is openly and overtly disrespectful to vendors and customers alike. The quality and choice of merchandise has plummeted in recent months as the best vendors have all jumped ship. This used to be a fun spot to shop but it's sadly become toxic. Quite a shame for an established business too, especially as Olympia loves to patronize its vintage and antique shops. read more

TONS of stuff! You'll find new gems every time you go. I loved walked around and seeing all of it. Staff was nice! They sell soda and water for $1, which I appreciated. Ended up buying a small porcelain box that I couldn't live without. read more

My husband and I have spent quite a bit of money at Lighthouse over the years, and I have to say after a recent visit we will not be returning. While walking around the store a woman named Karen approached us and very loudly (practically yelling) asked us if we needed help finding anything - it's an antique store what more do you do but browse to find unexpected treasures? We politely said no, we are browsing and she emphatically stated (again practically yelling) that if we needed help we should ask her. Asking for help wasn't all that necessary since she closely followed us around the store, and the moment I found something I wanted she nearly snatched it out of my hands "to bring up front so your hands could be free for more shopping". Uh, ok. She brought it up front and then continued to follow us around. I have to say I wasn't much in the mood for further shopping after that and almost left without what I wanted because at this point I was furious at being treated like a potential thief. My husband really wanted the item, so we paid and left and as we were leaving, there was Karen again telling us to come back soon. That will definitely not be happening. I completely understand that in this day and age loss prevention in stores is a must, however you must find a balance between protecting your merchandise and alienating your customers. I make it a point to spend my money locally and at small businesses. My home is decorated with vintage furniture and treasures I've found all over the antique stores in Olympia and never before have I been treated in such a poor and passive aggressive manner. I will be sharing this experience with my vintage collecting community. Vendors who sell there might consider moving their booths to a business that values its customers. read more

I just stopped by Lighthouse today. The owner was rude. She was blunt and antagonistic. I remember her from Homespun that she ran in Tumwater. She was rude there too unless I was wearing proper business attire. I had a cancellation on a volunteer activity today so I was in my work jeans, yard sneakers, WSU hoodie. She was suspicious of me which is just ridiculous. Hell, I use to do LP work. I am honest, nice and personable. She said accusingly to me 3 times, "No, I know you were here last week." I kept telling her I have NEVER been here before. Woman, I will never go back there again. I will give my local dollars to places I already know don't judge people on appearances and are friendly and respectful. If you hate your job working with the public or are so jaded you jump at shadows that don't exist, Please Get A New One. I feel sorry for people like you. Good luck being open in 5 more years. With your consistant attitude you gave me today in comparison to the many from Homespun, I am done. BTW, I am financially successful and a born and bred Olympia girl. read more

Nice little antique store. They started greeting me a few months back which was shocking. If you get that unfriendly vibe going in here, don't worry about it - I've never yet found an antique store that didn't have that "Oh what a drag there's people in here" sort of vibe. It's kind of just a funny American Antiques quirk. (oh I take it back - there is Courtyard Antiques who is run by a super nice lady who is a professional sales person obviously) I like the selection here - lots of vintage mixed in with the antiques. More American antiques than any other country. Unique things about this store: They almost always have nice asian furniture in the first vignette which changes. They have an amazing collection of canine jewelry and small gifts in a case which is quite handy for dog lovers on your list! Plenty of antiques of every shape and size. Not very many furniture pieces but the few they have are nice. I'd enjoy coming here any day. read more

I like this place. I go there pretty often and do find good deals. Never had a bad experience with the staff. They were always nice to me. The place is a bit pricy in my opinion, but again I think most antique stores sell somebody's old junk that is ridiculously overpriced! :) read more

Recommended for: People who don't mind hunting for treasure and bargains, someone who likes smaller, more decorative items. This place is bigger than it looks when you drive by, which is why I didn't bother to go in for so long. In many antique malls, you see some "craft," but at Lighthouse, they take that genre seriously. There are probably nearly equal vendor spaces dedicated to crafts like applique tea towels as there are for actual real old stuff. One of the largest collections of Olympia Beer merchandise resides here - it's proudly positioned near the front door. Many of the vendors have interesting collections, and the prices are mostly fair. There is not a lot of furniture, and the pieces that are there are mostly smaller pieces - end tables, smaller dressers, etc - and mostly "rustic" and "solid wood," which can be adorable but if you are looking for heavy, larger pieces, or metal, or more sleek danish or 1960s stuff, you will likely strike out. There is not a lot of the "collectible" merch that drives me crazy at a lot of antique malls (maybe I just have a problem with the 1980s being considered "antique" and "collectible"). I don't know if I happened upon Lighthouse on a good day or what, but there were some incredible sale prices and bargains. We didn't buy a lot of stuff here, but the few, small things I took home were totally adorable & great deals. And no, I didn't bring home any applique tea towels. read more

Lots of great stuff great prices you should only go if you have a lot of time to look around there is sooo much stuff for everyone! If you are looking for things for your home table's pictures glass ware and other items I think you would be happy here. I would have to say tho not a place to bring kids lots and lots of breakable items :O) !! read more

I've been here once and loved it. My husband gave me a $100.00 gift certificate for Christmas and I just pulled it out so I could plan a day of fun. It expired....3 months after he purchased it. Who gives you 3 months to use a gift certificate???? Not to mention I broke my foot in 2 places in January so getting out wasn't easy. So bummed. 3 months....wth. read more

The gal working was very rude, we asked a simple question and received a lecture instead. We wound up turning around and leaving. Antique stores are a dying a breed unfortunately, but with service like this it makes sense. Fun, even though a lot of stuff is kinda junky. There are some treasures you can ferret out if you look hard enough. The other day I bought a cute handmade peace symbol scarf and asked the lady at the counter if they had any garden gnome salt and pepper shakers. She took may number and said, I'll call if we find something. One hour later I got a call and they had indeed found just what I wanted - for only 10 bucks! Cool! I also stock up on my old fashioned corning ware baking and storage dishes there from one of the vendors - no more Tupperware for me - cancer and all that! I love my Olympia second hand stores. They are such a great way to re-cycle and re-use and the best part is that this stuff was actually made in the USA! read more

For years this was my favorite store. Today I went in with my 3 younger kids to shop. My boy who is being potty trained didn't make it to the bathroom since they have it locked I was finishing with my shopping when all of the sudden a lady started cursing and spraying around a bottle. She didn't care to be discreet. She said shit loud and my other son suddenly repeated her nasty word. I tried to just go and pay at that point but as I was leaving she rushed to me and still had the rudeness to say "someone need a diaper change really bad. " really really bad " loudly in front of other customers. I had to just leave my things and go home. And out of respect because she was an older lady than me I didn't tell her what she deserved. She was extremely rude. My kids had been so good the entire time. Those of you who have kids know how hard it is to keep them from touching things. I never expected to be treated in such a way. Maybe it was because I'm Spanish. Such a shame because I will never shop here again I used to bring my mom and grandma and some of my friends. Never again. I will have to find a another shop where employees can be more kind and professional. read more
