It's been some time since I've been a client at Tecnicolors, so take this review as not a recent,…read moreone-time specific, review, but a review built on years of going to Tecnicolors from when I was in high school to fairly recently. I don't go to them currently for cuts and color, but I have nothing against them save the few things I mention below. The Seagle Building location is simply splendid and the salon is lovely and it's pretty posh for Gainesville. Two incidents however with Tecnicolors stay in my mind, and they weren't horrible but still were kinda funny and slightly disturbing: First, one stylist I got when my long-time fave Rose left the salon (and town) was from Bulgaria. She was truly a sweetheart but ummmm . . . her English was badly lacking. Seriously. It was between her grasp of English and mine of Russian and some help from another stylist that we got through my haircut. This lady could, however, most certainly cut hair: problem was just communicating HOW I wanted mine cut for her to do her job. Second incident: with another stylist, I asked if I could get her to color my hair cobalt blue . . . see, I figured if I was going to do crazy color, I had best at least get a pro to do it and where better than at a salon called Tecnicolors? A friend who is a stylist in another city also suggested that I go to an Aveda salon (which Tecnicolors is) for such a wild color job because Aveda makes colorants that would do the trick perfectly. When I asked her about this, she said that yes, Aveda made the colorants to do what I wanted, but she couldn't do it at Tecnicolors because if some of that blue color got in their pale wooden floors it would dye them and wouldn't come out. Seriously? I mean they do red don't they and that also would have the capacity to ruin the floor, no? In any case, she suggested I talk to a stylist she knew at The Strand salon and see if that person would do it . . . The Strand is also an Aveda salon. So . . . my opinion of Tecnicolors as someone who has been a now-and-then client on and off for over 15 years? They know their stuff, they have a good salon going, and they probably can do what you request (except maybe blue hair!) so give them a shot. The two stories above notwithstanding, 90% of the time I've gone there for cut or color, they've done a stellar job.

Which I understand but he was deceptive in his communication and to me that is unforgivable. Plus one of the receptionists is very disrespectful, rude and inappropriate with clients. I really wish I could get back the money that I wasted there and the money I had to spend to fix his carelessness and lack of expertise on the area of straightening and color. I would never go back there and be sure to stop any friends or family that think about going there as well.. if I can stop one person from going there then my job is done

I told her I wanted to be able to keep it pulled back in a pony tail. I noticed she kept cutting and cutting and I reminded her that I only wanted 1 inch off. She told me she was just getting the ends straight. When I was finally able to look down, she had cut about 4-5 inches off. I have NEVER been so mad in my life! I can not longer put it in a pony tail - I look like someone put a bowl on my head and cut around it - will NEVER go to that place again or recommend it to anyone!! Guess you get what you pay for ! Rhea has curly hair herself and totally understands how finicky it can be when it comes to length. Honestly, I usually give her a super vague idea of what I want and just let her do her thing.
