Playground padded floors, has awning for shade. When compared to other daycares around the area, the price is competitive. Please take into consideration the summer activities fees when looking for daycares, it is on top of monthly fees and not optional. Food is included. Kids were kept safe and never had any injuries so that's a plus, considering the caretakers are pushed to the max and stressed. Cons : It's more like a babysitting place than a school. I don't see the kids doing crafts or learning much. It's mostly just giving them paper and crayons, or the kids just running around in chaos. The caretakers are very young in their early 20s, only there temporarily. The caretaker to kids ratio is at the max allowed. Staff turnover is high, there is a new random face taking care of the kids every month. There is no big common play area for the kids to play in the fall/winter. In spring/summer they have outdoor playground. But when it's cold, they're stuck in 1 same classroom all day. No camera for you to watch your kids throughout the day. They can use a carpet deep washing, at times it smells musty. If you're just looking for an ok place to send your kids that's fairly priced, this is your daycare. If you want more of an active learning place with more attention spent on your kid(s), spend more for a better experience.

TLE quickly became more than just a daycare for us--they became family. The staff is unbelievably caring, patient, and genuine. Every single staff member knows my daughter by name, and she knows them too. She lights up when they greet her, and even if I don't know all their names, the fact that they know hers and are truly excited to see her means the world to me. However, I am disappointed in the overall experience we had with my son. From the get go, we told the director he had a few developmental delays , one of which was late to potty train. He was three when he started, and there were at least two classes for kids his age. We were assured he would be placed with kids of similar needs. I learned a few weeks in that this was not the case, as one of his afternoon teachers made a comment about how "everyone else in his class is trained". Once we had begun the process of training with him a few months later, both at home and with the support of his public preschool teacher and IEP, he had frequent accidents at Under the Sun. The Director questioned whether the preschool teacher was lying to me about whether he was going on the toilet at school. Then I was told by the Director that my son had to be put in pull ups instead of the underwear that we were working so hard to get him used to because "there are too many other children in his class and to clean him up takes one of the teachers away from all the other kids." Again, didn't think he would be the only one In this situation! Finally, when the training was taking a longer time than optimal, the Director asked me if I was sure if speech was the only problem he had been diagnosed with. As a parent, one can imagine how this broke my heart. My son Is quiet and shy when he first meets new people, I get it. However I was repeatedly told by the afternoon care team that he doesn't speak and they "are really frustrated." Yet, when we put him on a different summer program at a nearby facility, he is a different kid. He is bubbly, talks constantly to everyone, including the teachers, and is overall just so much happier. I was quite disappointed at the fact that it did not seem like the morning and afternoon teachers did not communicate with each other. When I would pick him up in the afternoon, that staff would not know what my husband had brought in or discussed with the morning staff. This was frustrating. I was not present during the day to fully take in his entire experience, and I know he was fed, changed when soiled about 80% of the time, and safely put on and taken off the bus by UTS. However, these other experiences just put a very sour taste in my mouth and I was relieved to be able to take both kids out of this center at the end of the school year.

There were multiple incidents of bullying and/or kids just misbehaving and the school not handling those situations properly. I had no false hope that every kid would act like an angel 100% of the time and believe I was realistic in hoping that if and when a child would not behave well, the teachers would know how to handle it- boy, was I wrong! My daughter was scratched, pushed, hit, had her leg stood on by a boy (to which the teacher just told the other kid not to do it bc my daughter didn't like it.... Because so many people would) The straw that broke the camels back was: my husband arrived to pick up my daughter and noticed a bump/bruise on her head. He asked the 3 teachers at the door what happened. They all said they didn't know. Our daughter told us that a boy (who had done other things to her in the past and sounded to be an overall behavioral issue), hit her in the head with a stick on the playground. I asked if a teacher saw. She said no. She said she told a teacher and that teacher put the kid in timeout. Ok, fine. BUT, she happened to be one of the teachers at the door that said she didn't know what happened to my daughter.... In all the time my daughter went yo the school, we felt they operated in the dark. We never received an email about any incidents and when we brought it to her teachers attention, he said he would look into it and get back to me. Never did. After this last incident, they also said they were going to investigate and interview the teachers and get back to me with their findings. They never did. It became very obvious to me that this school was all about collecting $$, but not providing even the basic service of safety, not to mention an education. I am not an unreasonable individual, and if they had just communicated when things happened and told me how they remedied it, I would have been ok. Send your child elsewhere..... there are plenty of good schools out there. This is not one of them.
