I'm writing this review as a concerned parent after my six-month-old daughter spent one month in…read morethe infant classroom ("Baby Birds"). I want to share my honest experience to help other parents find the best environment for their children. First, the positives: the campus is beautiful, clean, and well-maintained. I also appreciated the organic baby food program, splash pad, and biometric fingerprint entry system, which is a great feature. However, I did notice that at times multiple individuals may enter behind one another without scanning, which somewhat defeats the purpose of controlled access. Beyond the surface, my experience raised several concerns--especially given the cost of tuition. On my daughter's second day, her bottle was mistakenly given to another baby. This is extremely concerning, not only from a care standpoint but also due to the risk of cross-contamination and illnesses such as RSV. The following day, I attempted to provide pre-portioned formula and water as a backup, but was told this was not allowed due to state law. While I understand policies exist for safety, this left me uneasy given the previous incident. I also observed what appeared to be a lack of attentiveness regarding illness. I overheard a parent expressing concern about their baby being sick, and on a separate occasion noticed a baby with visible symptoms (such as a runny nose on their clothing). This made me question how illness is being managed and whether precautions are taken to limit spread among infants. I also observed staff stepping over babies on the floor rather than walking around them. Books were kept in a cabinet behind the front desk and not accessible in the classroom, and I did not observe babies being read to or engaged in developmentally appropriate activities. On one occasion, I saw a baby playing with a small plastic storage container, which raised safety concerns. Additionally, babies appeared to spend extended time (30+ minutes) in container seats, which felt excessive. The school offers camera access with a clear view of the classroom, but it is limited to 30 minutes per parent and does not include audio. From what I consistently observed, the routine seemed to focus on feeding, changing, and placing babies on the floor for independent play. The environment felt rushed at times--more focused on managing the babies than nurturing and engaging them. I also had a small but telling experience where my daughter was changed out of her outfit before I could even leave the parking lot, and I was told staff did not have time to put outfits like that back on. I would recommend sending infants in simple clothing like sleepers. Lastly, there is no online billing portal. Payments are automatically withdrawn weekly using bank information, and statements are not issued until the end of the month, which lacked clarity. Due to my concerns, I ultimately withdrew my daughter before the required two-week notice period. This may be a good fit for families seeking a clean, basic daycare environment. However, for those looking for a more enriching, nurturing experience--especially at this price point--it may fall short. I do believe there is potential, but the level of care and engagement did not align with my expectations. I am looking for a place where my child is not only cared for, but truly nurtured and supported in her development.

I had a very eye opening experience dealing with Heather King at Forrestal Academy. After reaching…read moreout initially to set up enrollment I was notified verbally of a registration fee and the tuition dues. I asked for an in person meeting prior to enrollment date in lou of being thorough and understanding what we should expect. The school requires you to provide your account numbers so they can automatically pull funds as they wish. I let them know I was more comfortable with other forms of payment where I had more control over what amount they were pulling. It wasn't until a few days before the planned enrollment date I received a call from Heather asking me for an additional fee we did not previously discuss. An annual fee. An annual fee, before we were there one day? Annual fees come annually and there was zero mentioned of this during any of our meetings. Heather was quick and happy to mentioned it was in their 20 page packet in the fine print that I signed. This was brought up after they wanted my account information which leads me to believe they would have just pulled any amount they wanted without my knowledge. I ultimately did not provide any account numbers prior as I had planned on setting up a secure monitored account that had not been done yet. SO if I had done so they would have just pulled what they wanted at any time. I decided to put our start on hold because of the lost trust and concern of starting off on the right foot. Now Heather expects me to pay tuition for the time it took me to decide that we were not moving forward because of her untransparent actions. This school is all about showcasing the good then get your account numbers and do what they want where they have control over what they take from your account. Good luck with that business model.

The infant room teachers are great with the kids and have very calm demeanors which seems very necessary in a room full of babies. Diapers and food are included in the cost, which is really helpful. The only thing we bring is bottles for the day and a few changes of clothes. As new parents we obviously had concerns/questions through the last 5 months. The director, Kari, always takes time to have a thorough and honest conversation with us to hear our concerns. As a first time parent who was new to daycare I would definitely recommend this daycare. Another plus is that they were honest about when they would have an open position, unlike Primrose and Forrestal who just seem interested in taking your money for the infant waitlist.

He spoke to a Ms. Angie who informed him someone would be with me shortly. I waited some more. Fast forward to 6, still no one came on the line and the meeting ends on me. I call the main line myself and speak to a representative that did not give me her name. She had an attitude and was rushing me off of the phone. She said I needed to reschedule due to it being their busiest time (which I could understand). However, Childtime lacked communication on this as they shouldn't have set an appointment time they couldn't commit to in the first place. OR they could have called me and informed me of the need to reschedule. The attitude from that staff member was unnecessary and could have been prevented if appropriate actions were placed. I don't want anyone like that potentially watching over my kid or anyone else's. Maybe it was just her, so sorry to the facility but her performance may need to be reviewed. I have worked in customer service for years and I would never put the blame on a customer or make them feel unwanted. Why do that to someone who is wanting/paying you to watch over their child?? I'll be sure to leave my review every where possible.

My son was enrolled here for 8 months. I enrolled him when he was 18 months. The location was…read moreconvenient and they had openings for his age group. Also my 13 year old niece attended this center when she was a toddler so I felt comfortable. Boy oh boy was I in for a huge disappointment! I don't even know where to begin. After the third month of enrollment, I started looking for a new facility to place my son. It took another 3 months to find somewhere I felt was suitable and we had to wait 2 more months until the fall semester before he could start there. Hence the 8 months stay at gateway. So this place has an incredible staff turn over. In the 8 months my son was there, literally 8 staff members left or quit or were fired. It was unbelievable! Every few weeks we would get an email informing us that miss so and so is no longer with the center and miss xyz will be starting soon. Sure enough as soon as miss xyz started the cycle would repeat. There was one teacher who was there in the mornings when I dropped my son off and she smelled like marijuana. It blew my mind! How the heck do you come to work at 7am with the stench of weed? The facility opens at 6:30 but is never staffed. I usually dropped my son off at 7am and there was only one teacher there. All the kids from all age groups had to stay with her until the other teachers wandered in between 8:30 and 9am. I'm pretty sure thats a state violation. I came to drop my son off one morning and the teacher was sitting in the classroom moisturizing her feet and taking great care to concentrate on her heels. I was grossed out and pissed. She did wash her hands afterwards but I don't feel that this should have been done at the table where the kids eat their meals. When you have a question for one of the teachers the only response you get is 'I don't know mom. I wasn't there this morning. I just came into the class 30 minutes ago.' At one point I just stopped asking. I brought bug spray to be used on my son. Of course it was NEVER applied. He came home every day with huge bumps from insect bites. The next day I would remind the teacher hey there is bug spray and a permission slip for my son, and l would pick him up again with you guessed it.....bug bites. So I started to drop him off with long pants only. If I did put shorts on him I would douse him with spray when I dropped him off. So they boast water play every Friday in the summer. The first official day, I dropped my son off with his swim clothes, and a change of clothes and his shoes in a bag. I come to pick him up early (thank god) because he has an appointment and he's in the class barefoot. Ok so I'm livid. The teacher said to me 'you didn't send a change of clothes or shoes for him.' I said yes. I gave it to the teacher this morning when I dropped him off. And she said " Well I don't start till 9 so I don't know." Ok that's besides the point. If you think I didn't bring a change of clothes and shoes why on earth didn't you call me and say hey mom we need shoes for your baby? Are you that dense? All the while the bag with my son's clothes and shoes were sitting on his cubby! So my sons last day was on Fri August 24th. I go back to gateway on Monday the 27th to pick up the rest of his belongings and the expensive SSS bug spray that they never bothered using on him. The spray is no where to be found. Only the permission slip and bag that held the spray are in the bin. One teacher asks another if she's seen the spray and she replies "its in my bag." I'm thinking it's in a bag with other odds and ends with class room stuff. Well just when I thought this place and the staff couldn't get lower the teacher comes and retrieves the spray from her purse. She said to me she had to put it up or they would throw it out. I take the bottle and it's pretty much empty. I'm wondering why because the spray was never used on my son. I was so pissed and disgusted. When does this place hit bottom? I could go on and on about this place with all the stories I heard from other parents but I guess it wouldn't make a difference. I'm so glad my son is out of there. Today was his fourth day at his new daycare and he's doing so well. If I could give any advice or would be to stay away from gateway.

I have nothing but wonderful things to say about the directors and staff! I wish we had started her prior to her being 1. We had a horrible experience before and I was so nervous at first. But the teachers and directors were very responsive. After my daughter was there, we had a second one and due to covid I was able to juggle him and work. He started there at the age of one as well and has learned and grown so much! He is now 3 and my daughter 6, will be there this summer. We absolutely love this daycare!!!! Thank you teachers and directors for doing an absolutely hands down amazing job! Side note: even with the teacher change overs they have been very commutative and understanding my needs and concerns. Changes were made! They listen to you and work with the needs of your child!!!!

The team there is fantastic - friendly and genuinely kind people who care about the kids in their school. Food is included, but it's "kid food" - lots of chicken nuggets and fish sticks - so if you're looking for something organic or fancy you might want to provide your own food instead. That said, they were very accommodating of my kids' dietary restrictions and never made us worry that our kids would be fed something they couldn't eat (something I can't say for every child care facility we've encountered in LKN). The playgrounds are a little old - mulch-filled and older style equipment, chain link fences, etc. Compared to some newer facilities, the playgrounds could use some love, but my kids were happy so I didn't mind. Water play day on Wednesdays in the summer! Ice cream truck visits every other Tuesday in the summer! Older kids might even go for a walking field trip to Bruster's - the highlight of their week. Communication with the front office and with your kid's teacher is more challenging now because of COVID. I found I was still able to reach people if I needed to, and they answered all of my questions to my satisfaction. A weekly newsletter or email from teachers to parents might be a good idea - sometimes we felt surprised by planned events and daily/weekly themes. I love the layout of the building inside - the older kids' classroom in the middle feels very much like a Montessori environment to me. Overall would highly recommend!
