There are two locations; my daughter was at the 115 E 31st Street site, and Ms. Tanya is the on-site operator there. When I called the owner, Marie Bellevue, I felt so comforted, and that she was a kind and caring person. Then I met Ms. Tanya, and immediately felt the love in the daycare. I saw how Ms. Tanya held and nurtured the children, that they were happy and at ease with her and each other, how they embraced and welcomed my daughter who was just visiting without any prompting or encouragement and knew that my daughter would thrive there (the place is also clean and organized, etc.). I too, felt at ease, heard, and respected by Ms. Tanya. My daughter started a few days before she turned 22 months old, rate was $200 per week, they accept payments through Zelle and CashApp, the hours are from 8:00 am - 6:00 pm, parents provided food (daycare provides water and juice), diapers/Pull-Ups, wipes, crib sheet and blanket for their children. Parents can leave their children's strollers, baby carriers and small scooters (and I imagine tricycles/small bikes) there. The entire house is dedicated to the daycare, and the daycare is monitored inside and outside with working security cameras. Ms. Tanya delights in the children and takes excellent care of them. She did not attempt to gaslight me into tolerating mistreatment and neglect of my child because "things happen in daycare" and "it's daycare, not babysitting or nanny service". At all times I picked up my daughter, she was clean, her clothes, hair and accessories were intact, she was happy to see me and loved her teacher, she was fed and not ravenous when she returned home and was excited to show me what she learned. When my daughter left, Ms. Tanya was teaching the children Spanish. My Shepherd Daycare is a comforting, nurturing, educational, and safe environment for young children to learn and have fun. I cannot thank Marie Bellevue and Ms. Tanya enough for their empathy, loving care, kindness, consideration, and the invaluable peace of mind they provided my child and me. While I was at work, my mind was at ease because I knew that my daughter was in a safe place, learning and having fun with her peers. If this daycare opened at 7:00 am my daughter would still be there; my daughter had to leave only because a change in my work schedule required that I find a daycare with an earlier start time. We were disappointed given the good reviews of the agency and the sitter's profile, which claimed that she has "15+ years of experience with newborns," "focuses on children having a good time" and "gives children devoted attention." - Our sitter left our baby unattended for 20 seconds on a 3-feet high changing table (recorded on cameras that we disclosed), walking away to look for a change of clothes. This is a huge safety concern for a 4.5 month infant who is able to independently roll and could have resulted in serious injuries. There is a safety strap that she could have buckled if she needed to walk away. - Sitter pulled a dirty onesie over his head after a blowout. The best practice would be to pull the onesie down past the shoulders/legs to avoid smearing poop over his head. This further demonstrated her lack of experience in caring for infants. - According to the agency, sitters are prohibited to be on their phones when children are awake unless responding to parents or in case of emergency. Our sitter was on her phone the entire time he was awake and ignored him when he was distressed and crying loudly for food. - Our sitter left the apartment twice to pick up lunch/dinner and asked me to babysit. This defeated the point of paying for a sitter so I could catch up on sleep. We assumed she would bring her own meals or order delivery since we are paying for her to be available. - Sitter left all the dirty baby bottles in the sink. Our understanding is that she would clean up after the baby's meals. We understand that the first day may not run perfectly, however we cannot overlook that our child was put in a dangerous position. We have serious doubts about the sitter screening and training process. To throw salt in our wound, we had to pay a $50 cancellation fee so she didn't come back for the second day of our booking. We raised our concerns to Lisa, who acknowledged some of our concerns but ignored the point about leaving a baby unattended on a changing table. She told us that she would continue to employ this sitter, but that she would not be assigned to us anymore. We will not be using Pinch Sitters again.

For six days, it was quoted $954. I need to send my kids and pay that because I am a Contractor hourly worker. September 1st, they called us even before lunch and said they have covid + case we need to pick up our twins. And the same day was my twins' birthday. We prepare goodie bags, cake etc. I understand they couldn't cut the cake because of the emergency, but they gave all the goodie bags away, not even singing the happy birthday song to my twins. Nobody thanked them for goodie bags; as you can imagine, the kids were very upset. They were asking me, "why everyone's birthday cake cut but not ours." Going back to the remaining days, they told us the school had to shut down for 14 days. I just paid six days for nothing. I basically paid $954 for half-day because they refused to refund me. I understand the circumstances if we are their ongoing family, of course, I can't ask that for an emergency days' refund. But I only made payment for the 14 days shut down period. It's beyond unfair to pay $954 for a half-day. I paid for the service I didn't receive. The worst part is I only paid that money to be able to work for my hourly job. I spent almost my week's work and was not able to work for the time being. The school gave us a discount eight months ago, and with not refunding my payment for the last six days they found a way to get back that discount. Not to response: I don't think the department of Health dictates you not to refund people. It's in your hands to refund, and you think it's fair to get paid for half day of service, that shows until when you care about your families. I would love to support a small business, but your business does not care about my situation at all as person who lost full time job because of Covid. We should be on the same boat on this understand each other. Sadly that wasn't the case.
