Bumble Bee provides a warm, caring, and supportive environment for infants and toddlers- highly recommend! It was truly our daughter's home away from home. She attended BB full-time - first in their infant room starting at 4 mos and then in the toddler program through 2.5 yrs (she only left for 3K). Eunice, the head of the program, is wonderful. She is accessible, helpful, always available for a phone call, and very hands-on, so she knows each child well. The staff in both the infant and toddler room are great. They supported our daughter (and us, as first-time parents!) through her many transitions (bottles to solids, crawling to walking, nap schedules etc). Our daughter was always excited to go to daycare, and was in good spirits at pickup. Other things we appreciated: private and spacious outdoor space where they also do winter and summer activities (splash pad, picnics, etc), food provided/included in tuition once your child starts eating solids (the convenience of this is not to be underestimated...), very flexible in general, photos/videos/messaging easily accessible via Bright Wheels app. BB is a special place! read more

My niece is a student at Bumble Bee and my sister wanted me to write about what a great place this is! Unlike other Daycare centers, their bright location, clean and safe backyard is a great place for her little one to run around. The organizers and day care staff are kind and attentive. There are also a lot of little extra touches that make moms feel like their kids are very well taken care of such as the daily reports. We are very happy that they have joined the neighborhood and will be keeping her there for a long time. My sister is pregnant and definitely plans to send her next baby there as well! read more

Bumble Bee daycare has been an awesome experience for my kiddo who started to go there when she was 3.5 months old! Ziggy was a tiny little thing who basically just loved boob and refused the bottle at home with me... so here i am exasperated and concerned and just needed the reassurance that mah baby is gonna be fine.. and that's what i loved about bumble bee ! from the start, Eunice has been clear, concise, responsive, and accomodating to all my questions and needs when we discussed starting Ziggy at her daycare. I always got a quick answer via email or text, and i loved that every part of the daycare ( toddler and infant) section was open to touring so you don't have any surprises or weird expectations! once we started that first day i knew she was in good hands. The caretakers are all super friendly and experienced and i loved that they gave me "bottle report" updates those first few days to make me feel at ease. Zigs took to bottle after 2-3rd day and after that she was draining me dry til she started solids! They have a 2 to 1 ratio at this daycare for infants and that's reassuring for all parents with young ones to know that they are keeping close eyes on them and they are totally flex to transition and care for your baby the way you want them to. My daughter and son have been attending Bumble Bee since they were both 3.5 months old. My daughter is now 3 years old and my son is 1. I remember the nerve-wracking choice of picking the right place for my daughter. What is the building like? The staff? Is it large enough? Is there outdoor space? Do the kids get to go off-site? What does it cost? How many days are they closed? And of course - how can I leave my newborn with anyone but me??! We chose Bumble Bee for a variety of reasons, with the strongest being the positive reviews I read about infant care. The first day was the hardest and Eunice (Director) was very understanding and accommodated some half days before I had to go back to work. I can't say enough positive things about how they cared for my daughter but also Eunice and her staff were patient and supportive of my adjustment period as well. Now having kids there for over three years I can say that I have been happy with both the infant care and toddler care. The staff is very loving towards the kids and they also support my daughter's development with activities and craft projects covering a wide variety of topics. The kids don't leave the premises but they have a nice backyard and that helps them get outside and play on nice days. The staff is still very patient with any questions I have. I know they have a lot of kids to attend to, but they always take the time talk about any question or concern. They also send pictures so I can get a moment of cheer during the work day! I'd definitely recommend Bumble Bee to anyone looking for a reliable, trusted and happy environment for their child. I have nothing but positive things to say about our time at Bumble Bee!! We started our son at 6 months and are only leaving at 20 months because we are moving out of state. The staff are very communicative and caring, and Eunice is always available for feedback, chats, and is able to make a million different kids schedules work within the daycare so she's basically a magician. We've loved getting to know them all, and love that they treat all the kids like family. We had the unique opportunity of COVID-19 / pandemic life starting several weeks after we began daycare, and we rolled with the changes and smaller groups of kids, but really enjoy the size (8 kids on a floor) so that our son has friends / interaction but also it's small enough to know everyone. It's so hard to tell based on a quick visit (and probably even harder if you only have a phone call or virtual visit!) but I highly recommend Bumble Bee for your infant / small child care needs. It's safe, caring, flexible but structured, and our son has learned SO MUCH - his colors, so many songs, dances, etc. We were sold on the outside space, but the facility really offers so much more than just that and even food when the kids are old enough / interested in regular food! When my maternity leave was ending, I was extremely anxious about putting my daughter in childcare. We contemplated many daycares, but a colleague of mine had recommended Bumble Bee. With that good word of mouth, I felt much more comfortable placing my five-month old in the care of Eunice, Safira, and the entire team at Bumble Bee. She's always happy when I drop her off and pick her up, and the caregivers genuinely seem to have affection for her. I've also come at odd hours during the day due to a changing work schedule and everything is in order, whether it's naptime, play time or feeding time. The ratio of caregivers to infants is great, and I never worry about whether or not she's being well-cared for. I also just have to recommend putting your child in daycare, generally speaking, if he or she is a social butterfly like mine is. At the end of my mat leave, I was always exhausted having to entertain a 5-month old who wanted to get up and go and see everything, but now she's entertained by her fellow babies and the caregivers at Bumble Bee on a daily basis which satisfies her social quotient of the day! As soon as I drop her off she's excited to go hang out with the other kids. My daughter attended Bumble Bee full-time for two years, from being a very young infant to becoming an active, outgoing toddler, well prepared to move on to a more formal preschool. It's been a great experience for our whole family and I enthusiastically recommend Bumble Bee to parents looking for a place for their child. The area for infants is well looked after by carers who love babies, many who are mothers or grandmothers themselves and can give gentle advice to new parents. As my child grew into the older cohort in more like a classroom setting, she learned songs, skills, and concepts (such as colors and counting to 20) much faster than I expected she would. A big plus for Bumble Bee compared to other local day cares is that there are no TVs. The children are kept engaged with a daily routine including active play, "circle time," and projects. As a busy parent, I have had such peace of mind leaving my daughter in the capable care of many responsible caregivers, who provide daily updates at pick up and sometimes photos emailed showing her having fun. At pickup my daughter was always well fed, clean, and rested. It was easy to tell from the caregivers' detailed updates that they pay close attention to the children and how they are developing. If there was ever a problem such as sudden illness I was always quickly informed. The organization of the school is straightforward. The procedures are simple and there is not much paperwork for the parents. A huge benefit is that food and milk is provided after age 1. I was somewhat disappointed that there is not much of a parent/family community to speak of, but there is much more diversity among the children and the staff than at other places I looked at, which I considered a great benefit. All the children, certainly, become good friends. To conclude, if you are a laid-back parent who wishes their child to play and learn the basics in a fairly no-frills setting, this is a good place for your family. If you are a fretful parent who has a sophisticated approach to childcare or has excessive requests for special treatment for your child, this may not be the best fit though. read more

To start, my husband and I are young(-ish...) and first time parents living in the area. We have absolutely no idea what we are doing with our daughter most of the time, and we have no family within several hundred miles of Brooklyn. We both work. Bumble Bee Daycare has been a real lifesaver for us. I researched and visited many daycares when I was pregnant, and to be honest, all of them started to seem the same. I picked Bumble Bee because they made an effort to keep prices reasonable, they have a very low infant to carer ratio (lowest I could find!), the babies looked clean and happy and I had a good rapport with the employees I met there. My daughter is now 9 months and she's been with them for 6 months. Honestly, my husband and I feel very comfortable that she is in their care, and we've made a big effort to get to know the staff. I have only positive things to say about all of the carers. I won't say our experience has been perfect, but what makes this a 5 star place is how responsive all the staff is and how much they make an effort to care for my daughter. A great example: I received a call (every mom's nightmare) saying my girl had spiked a very high fever and needed to go to the doctor. I scrambled to get out of work and arrived over an hour later. One of the carers had been holding my daughter and wrapping her in wet towels to lower her fever... the carer was absolutely soaking wet when I arrived, and she didn't mind at all - the first thing she asked me was to make sure to call them after I got to the pediatrician to make sure my daughter was okay. I think we've managed to make this experience feel as "family-like" as we can, which means a lot to us. The staff is fabulous. I've even learned some parenting techniques (they taught me how to feed her solids and have given me advice on getting my reluctant napper to sleep). read more

My 4 mos. old son has been a Bumble Bee for about a month. We found the daycare through Park Slope Parents and Yelp. After reading such positive reviews and exploring various options, we signed up. So far we've been really happy with BB. I'm sorry to read that someone had such an unpleasant experience. Ours has been different. We've found Eunice, the owner, is very responsible, accommodating and communicative. As other posts mentioned, the staff is amazing. And that's one of the most important factors we looked for. We appreciate that they work with our requests (adding in naps, using cloth diapers). Sometimes it gets a little hectic during pickup and there's not much room to wait. Also, it'd be great if they have a little spot to nurse/feed the baby if needed during pickup/drop off. But, it's NY and we all know how limited space is. The price is reasonable. But they only take cash or check. You prepay for the week. read more

We were nervous to transition from our twin boys being with a nanny and/or member of the family taking care of them 5x a week. Bumble Bee made our transition to part-time daycare seamless. They helped guide us through half-days into full day and were patient and accommodating as our schedule changed. Our boys love going to Bumble Bee and seeing both their new friends, but more tellingly their caretakers. They know all their names and chatter on about their excitement both before the day (as we commute there) and after as we head home. Eunice and the gang have been consistent in their care and affection for our boys. Would recommend to anyone looking for a caring and safe place for their children as they leave the coop. We are sad to part ways soon, but stress we are only doing so to reduce our commute to a new daycare closer to home. Until our son began preschool this week, he attended Bumble Bee Daycare. We are big fans of the facility, and of the woman who basically runs it, Eunice. (I did a lot of research for the Prospect Heights and Park Slope areas and went to view various places before making a final decision.) Bumble Bee was not only a valuable resource for care during working hours, but also for supplemental babysitting, and we can confidently recommend it to anyone. They provide healthy, balanced regular hot meals and snacks, which is a great help once your little one starts eating solids. They also have daily circle/song time, crafts projects, various skills building toys/activities, and sufficient and regular outdoor play in a well kept area in the back. When our time there came to a close last week, we actually shed a few tears because they'd become like family to us, and we intend to continue to use them as an after school resource as needed. read more

We can't say enough about how well they have taken care of him Our biggest concern daycare with putting him in day care for the first time was him being safe and feeling comfortable in a new environment. The tldr of this review is that I love Bumblebee Daycare and would recommend them without reservations. The thing I appreciate most about Bumblebee is how loving all the members of the staff are. They genuinely love all the kids there. Whenever I pick up my son, the staff have a deluge of stories about the cute things he's done that day and often about cute things the other kids have been up to. They've given my son about a million cute little nicknames and they're always very affectionate toward him. My son loves it there, he always claps when we arrive at their front door. Bumblebee has been great to work with. They're responsive by phone and email and have been very accommodating and flexible with my sometimes difficult schedule. My son started with Bumblebee as soon as he was old enough. I'm a first time parent and the staff at Bumblebee have given helpful little tips on doing this or that whenever I ask. They're great at teaching the kids. They work on good behavior like following directions, being kind, and being neat. They sing songs and do art projects. There's also an outdoor area where they spend as much time as weather permits. Inside the area is clean and kid friendly. In short, it's a place you can feel happy bringing your child to. read more

I am very surprised at the positive reviews for this daycare. The Yelp reviews led me towards them too. I toured earlier this year and it was absolutely by far the worst daycare I ever saw, and I've seen quite a few now. First of all, the place is so dingy, dark, stuffy I found it hard to breathe and wanted to run asap. When I walked in there, I saw about 4/6 kids running around, while 1 was trying to eat, and there was only 1 girl with them, literally just staring at them. Eunice - the tour guide - took me into the kitchen and slowly more staff began appearing from the back rooms. One child was crawling in his diaper. The place looked neither clean nor safe to me. Although I knew immediately this wasn't a fit for my family. Then they showed me their nap area. In one corner of the main play room, they had one Toys R Us little chair for newborns and they use it that one chair for all the kids to nap. I specifically inquired how would that works and they explained that kids took turns so one sleeps while the others play or eat. Bizarre. Upstairs was even worse. There was 1 girl, clearly on her phone because when Eunice and I got up, her phone with headphones was sitting on the kitchen counter very visibly and very audibly. What I found distressing was that they had a table next to the wall and two 2 year olds were sitting on chairs facing the wall and coloring. As a child I remembered being made to face the wall as punishment. But here this is a daily thing it appears. read more

Our son has been going to Bumble Bee Daycare part-time for almost 1.5 years now and we're still as happy with our experience as we were when we started! I originally found this daycare through Park Slope Parents and after reading excellent reviews, I decided to tour. I was impressed with the ratio and the facility is general and decided to enroll him. Moreover, the fact that Eunice and the staff were willing to work with my part-time schedule was extremely helpful. My son started on the top floor with the other infants and the staff there was great. He went through a bout of separation anxiety and they were very reassuring (let's face it, it was harder for me than him!) Last summer, he moved to the first floor with the toddlers and I can tell he's very happy there. The staff is kind and caring and I know he's in good hands when I drop him off. read more

My daughter has been attending Bumblebee for over 2 years and overall we have been happy with the care. They are very flexible with schedules and very quick to respond to emails. Even though I chose daycare initially out of necessity and had no idea what to expect, the most important thing to me was that my daughter was happy and well cared for. My daughter has been on all 3 floors and the caretakers have always taken a personal interest in her. Maybe it was just good personality fits on both sides, but every caretaker was really good and engaging with my daughter. As she got older, they had a good balance between being nurturing but not letting her get away with bad behavior. I also found that she was learning skills to be more independent sooner than I would have thought. They provide communication sheets every day and would tell me funny stories about my daughter and send me pictures once in a while. There is a great outdoor space where the kids can safely play without having to leave the premise. They provide 3 meals which is a huge convenience for a full time working mom. The one thing I wish they had was more of a curriculum for the older kids to learn and be challenged. I understand it's not a preschool but if they had a bit more well rounded learning combined with the convenient hours and schedule of a daycare, it would be a great option up until pre-K. read more

Our son has been enrolled at Bumble Bee since he was three months old (he is now ten months), and we're grateful to have found caregivers who have shown him so much attention and affection. We trust them completely while he is in their care and have always felt reassured by how many staff are on hand. As hard as it is to leave him every day, especially at the start when he was so small, we take comfort knowing that the staff enjoys what they do and seems to really care about the kids there. We've been lucky that he's taken to the staff so much that there's no separation anxiety when we drop him off, he loves his time there. My son enjoyed attending Bumblebee since he was 9 months old and always looked forward to "going to school". Knowing he was happy in daycare gave me peace of mind that he was in good hands of the Bumblebee teachers. He learned how to socialise and benefitted from the enrichment exercises especially in the toddlers room, for example, learned new words, counting and "manners". I was happy with his development so I sent my younger son there too. He seemed to enjoy his days there and liked his teachers. Our daughter happily attended Bumble Bee Daycare for almost two years. Bumblee Bee's huge strength is providing a genuinely warm environment. The women who work there connect with children. They get to know them. They find them fun and interesting. They give them a lot of individual attention. My daughter is very attached to her "teachers" and has made good friends. They do a wonderful job teaching infants and toddlers social skills and how to be independent. Over the last two years I was often surprised to see our daughter pick up a skill I had very little part in teaching her (counting to 11, saying please and I'm sorry, and blowing her own nose). Another plus - her teachers are willing to babysit on evenings and weekends. It's great to have a highly qualified babysitter that our daughter knows. We left for logistical reasons and hope to have her return occasionally or in the future. read more

We've been taking our 10mos old son to BumbleBee since he was 3 months old. We have been very happy with the care he has received- the women are so nice, caring, creative and friendly. They have been respectful and accommodating of any requests we have made and have given us thoughtful feedback and suggestions too. I love their happy, bright, clean facility including a big, private back yard. The staff seems well versed in childhood development concepts and we are convinced they are an instrumental reason why our son is so easy going and good about his schedule. Also, we appreciate that they are tech savvy. They're comfortable communicating by text and e-mail as well as phone- always very responsive and communicative about how things are going and what our son needs. Sometimes, when our son is being extra cute, they snap a photo on an iPhone and send it to me which is the highlight of my day. For mother's day, they gave me a disc with all of the photos they'd snapped of him since he was a little baby which was an incredibly thoughtful "above and beyond" gesture. read more

Our child was in Bumble Bee for about two years and he was really happy there. All the staff is really helpful, and nurturing to the children. They were specially helpful in those first months when, as a new parent, you need someone to help you, and guide you through the challenges of taking care of a baby. They feed the kids fresh food, cooked on the spot as I was able to confirm when I was dropping off my child at odd times and saw them cooking. I think that is really good, and you don't need to worry about bringing food to school and cooking at home. There are some things that could have made the experience in BBB better. For example, having to pay weekly with a check was a bit overwhelming over time. Mornings are usually so hectic and you have to remember to write a check as well! I wonder if they could improve that by taking monthly payments or even an electronic transfer directly from the parent's account. I was going through some of the reviews here and I saw someone complaining about how stuffy the place looks. I can see that too, but the truth is that can be fixed with a fresh coat of white paint, nothing more. What is important is that it is clean, bathrooms, kitchen and floor. All is clean. read more

I can't say enough good things about our experiences at Bumble Bee Daycare. My wife and I started sending our son there in December when he was 8 months old. Since then, we've watched him go from a crawler to a walker and a babbler to a talker. Our son has been at Bumble Bee Daycare long enough for his nap schedule and feeding routine to change a couple of times. Each of those transitions was handled extremely well by the staff. They communicated the progress, welcomed our suggestions and we welcomed theirs. We are very happy with how flexible and cooperative they have been with us. We appreciate being able to communicate with the staff via email. It's really convenient and we absolutely love when they send pictures of our son during the day. It's a small thing, but it's so great to see what he's up to (especially when he's playing in the backyard). Overall, we highly recommend Bumble Bee Daycare. We used Bumble Bee Daycare for our son, starting in early December when he was 3.5 months old. My husband and I both had moms that stayed home with us, so we had no previous daycare experience and were a little nervous about what to expect. We looked at a few in the Park Slope area, and Bumble Bee really stood out as a caring place where all the kids seemed happy and content. From the first day, the caregivers welcomed our son with open arms and gave him tons of attention and love. The infant caregivers are truly amazing. The ratio of caregivers to children was the best we found of any place we looked at, and that was definitely a priority for me. Even the caregivers for the older children on the first floor all know my son by name and say good morning/good bye to him. I appreciate that while each age group has their own space and their own primary caregivers, the whole staff really works together and knows and loves all the kids. Safety is always a concern when you leave your child with anyone. I am confident that the ladies of Bumble Bee watch out for my son just like I would. One time, he was a little too enthusiastic about getting a toy into his mouth and ended up bonking himself on the lip. Eunice emailed me in the middle of the day and sent a picture of his little bruise to give me a heads-up, and I appreciated that they kept me in the loop about things like that. It was really a very tiny incident, so if they were so proactive about that, I felt reassured that they would absolutely be on top of any larger incidents too. Eunice will also periodically send pictures of him playing with toys or other babies, just so that I can see how he's doing during the day. Communication is definitely open and welcome. I can call anytime, just to check in, and everyone is happy to chat at drop-off or pick-up about the days events, any concerns, etc. I can ask anything and get a prompt, thoughtful response. If I need to email Eunice about anything, she is very quick to respond. The staff is very responsive to our desires and our son's needs. In the beginning, I had no idea how much pumped breastmilk to send for him, and they were helpful in figuring out exactly how many ounces he needed during the workday. As he grew, they kept me informed about when they thought he would need bigger bottles, and when we started solids at 6 months, they were great about incorporating that into his routine there. We haven't had many special requests, but I know that they would accommodate anything we needed. My son was a terrible napper during my maternity leave, but at Bumble Bee they helped him get into a little routine. Now, his naps are regularly 1-2.5 hours each, which is amazing. The routine developed naturally -- they read his cues about when he needed to sleep/eat/play, instead of forcing him to fit into a pre-determined schedule. For example, he still needed three naps a day long after most babies his age had dropped down to two naps, so they accommodate that need. I know this is a lot to read, but the bottom line is that we have been incredibly happy with the care our son has gotten at Bumble Bee. The staff is professional and extremely experienced, the other parents seem kind and friendly, and -- most importantly -- our son enjoys being there. He loves to play with the other kids, and he has really gotten attached to his infant caregivers. I rarely see any children crying at drop-off in the mornings, and he is always playing happily when I go pick him up in the evenings. Knowing that I don't have to worry about him during the day made it much easier for me to return to work. We were so sad to leave Bumble Bee recently, but we moved out of state for my husband's job. Otherwise, we would have no problems at all continuing to have the amazing staff of Bumble Bee Daycare look after our son. We loved them!!! read more

My child has attended this daycare for one year. The staff at bumblebee is very caring and nurturing. They try their best to make each child and their family happy. The management however needs improvement. The owner does not respond to emails promptly or at all. The owner makes changes without informing parents. For example, I gave permission for my child to nap in a playpen in a napping room, and one day I found my child on a mat at pickup near the daycare entrance. To my surprise there was no more napping room. The place is also very dirty. I threw away several pairs of my child's socks as they were not even washable. Because of the filthy floors I did not permit my child to go barefoot. The daily notes were illegible until a new staff member googled a better form. Rules also change on the spot and are not communicated by the owner. The owner also created an all or nothing policy about meals and told me that if I sent in all food from home, then my child could not have any daycare food or snacks. It has been a rough year and stressful dealing with management. An employee requested a medical ASAP to,keep them from failing an audit. If it is that important, you should give a parent more than a days notice. The daycare is expanding and growing faster than the owner can handle. The owner appears more concerned about making money then making the neccesary changes to keep parents happy and a smooth running daycare. Staff appear frustrated with the owner also. There is no licensed teacher although parents were misled to believe so. Children sleep on hard floor mats up against a baseboard heater that is missing connectors. Also, the phone is out of order often and the answering machine message is a chinsese message that is not for bumble bee daycare. Lots and lots of stuff.....The list is endless....... read more
