My son just graduated Zusin after 2 years, and the change between day one, and where the kid is at…read moregraduation, is astronomical. My kid was six months when he started. Couldn't walk or talk or anything. Now he poops in the toilet all by himself and uses words like delicious and floss. Insane. What a journey. I remembering hugging all his teachers for the last time. We were all crying. So much love flowing that day. Not to mention, gratitude. That's what I felt the deepest. Sadness and loss for sure. But mostly, I felt thankful. Because what the heck would we have done without childcare? We never would have made it. I cannot believe our good fortune, both in being able to afford daycare, but also having loving teachers who were really good at their jobs. It's funny, I was thinking about the old phrase, "good help is hard to find."No it's not. Good help is as abundant as the sun. Care is not a scarce commodity. Competent people are not rare, unreliable or hiding somewhere. What's hard to find is our own ability to recognize it, afford it, access it, trust it, accept it, and acknowledge how much of our lives depend on it. The transformation my son underwent during those two years? It's not a miracle. It's thousands of tiny acts performed by caring people. Meals served. Diapers changed. Tears soothed. Words repeated. Shoes tied. Conflicts mediated. Naps negotiated. Bodies protected. We applied to our daycare during the second trimester, got on the waiting list, and the day he turned six months, we sent him to school. And now he's like a real person. So what I feel right now is mostly gratitude. We hit the lottery. I wanted to sing Zusin's praises, quite literally. So I wrote a song about them. My review is about our relationship at the end. Usually, our agreement was until the end of August,…read morebut they told us we could still send our kids for a daily rate. For six days, it was quoted $954. I need to send my kids and pay that because I am a Contractor hourly worker. September 1st, they called us even before lunch and said they have covid + case we need to pick up our twins. And the same day was my twins' birthday. We prepare goodie bags, cake etc. I understand they couldn't cut the cake because of the emergency, but they gave all the goodie bags away, not even singing the happy birthday song to my twins. Nobody thanked them for goodie bags; as you can imagine, the kids were very upset. They were asking me, "why everyone's birthday cake cut but not ours." Going back to the remaining days, they told us the school had to shut down for 14 days. I just paid six days for nothing. I basically paid $954 for half-day because they refused to refund me. I understand the circumstances if we are their ongoing family, of course, I can't ask that for an emergency days' refund. But I only made payment for the 14 days shut down period. It's beyond unfair to pay $954 for a half-day. I paid for the service I didn't receive. The worst part is I only paid that money to be able to work for my hourly job. I spent almost my week's work and was not able to work for the time being. The school gave us a discount eight months ago, and with not refunding my payment for the last six days they found a way to get back that discount. Not to response: I don't think the department of Health dictates you not to refund people. It's in your hands to refund, and you think it's fair to get paid for half day of service, that shows until when you care about your families. I would love to support a small business, but your business does not care about my situation at all as person who lost full time job because of Covid. We should be on the same boat on this understand each other. Sadly that wasn't the case.

Man, sending your kid to be taken care of by strangers can be tough…read more I was fully prepared to hate every daycare we toured and subsequently convince my wife that I should quit my job and take care of our little girl full time, because no one was good enough to do the job.* But we loved Changing Tomorrow as soon as we walked inside. The location may not be ideal (for us or in general - it's located in a construction-clogged area of Downtown Brooklyn), but the facilities are excellent, and the people are wonderful. It is brand new, clean, and very well run. It's as if they took stock of the bougie parents in the neighborhood, and decided to create a daycare that offered everything they might want: Flexible schedules and long hours (open 7 am to 7 pm). Nurse on site at all times. Organic food catered for the kids (after they turn 1). Montessori methods that focus on the cognitive, social, and emotional development of your kid. Frequent activities like dance, soccer, finger-painting, and trips to the park when it's nice out. Best of all, they have monthly meetings where they take suggestions for what the parents would like to see from the school, and they actually try and implement those suggestions where it makes sense. (I wish those meetings weren't at 7 am, but I suppose getting up early is part of being a parent.) We're only a couple of weeks in at this point, but so far I have to say that the staff is just amazing. They put up with the minute and specific instructions we (and I imagine all parents) throw at them on a daily basis, and they are shockingly on top of the Brightwheel app that they use to keep us updated on our child throughout the day. Yesterday I got over a dozen photos and videos of my daughter, plus updates on her naps, feedings, diaper changes, and more. My kid still cries every time I drop her off, but it's really gratifying to see a smiling photo of her just a little bit later so I know she isn't crying all day. A huge thank you to Meridith the Education Director, Ms. Victoria, Ms. Janiece, Ms. Maria, and all the other wonderful people that work here. I'm constantly surprised that the teachers in the other age groups (that don't spend the day caring for her) recognize my daughter on sight when we walk in the door; it makes the place feel a lot more like a family. Thank you all for taking care of our daughter; I know it isn't easy, and we really appreciate how much you care. It makes it a little bit easier to leave her with you. ____________ *And also because I'm a progressive man that knows my wife can handle the breadwinning duties in this modern world. Definitely not because I'm tired of working and need to be supported in this lifestyle to which I've become accustomed.

Amanda was so wonderful and found a place for us at very short notice. We weren't expecting much -- we were just happy to have found somewhere so quickly -- but our daughter flourished and thrived under their care. Amanda was extremely communicative and seemed to know everything about how our child was developing. She is so great with the children and just an extremely positive force to be around. We never worried for a second when our daughter was there. The teachers were wonderful at helping her adapt to her first daycare, and then helping her transition to the toddler class. We got regular updates and photographs throughout the day that regularly made us laugh. They came up with really great ideas for activities. They calmed us when we were worried and gave us tips to help her along. The facilities here are amazing, but the staff are what makes it great. We HIGHLY recommend Changing Tomorrow Academy and will be eternally grateful for how they took care of our little one.

There are two locations; my daughter was at the 115 E 31st Street site, and Ms. Tanya is the on-site operator there. When I called the owner, Marie Bellevue, I felt so comforted, and that she was a kind and caring person. Then I met Ms. Tanya, and immediately felt the love in the daycare. I saw how Ms. Tanya held and nurtured the children, that they were happy and at ease with her and each other, how they embraced and welcomed my daughter who was just visiting without any prompting or encouragement and knew that my daughter would thrive there (the place is also clean and organized, etc.). I too, felt at ease, heard, and respected by Ms. Tanya. My daughter started a few days before she turned 22 months old, rate was $200 per week, they accept payments through Zelle and CashApp, the hours are from 8:00 am - 6:00 pm, parents provided food (daycare provides water and juice), diapers/Pull-Ups, wipes, crib sheet and blanket for their children. Parents can leave their children's strollers, baby carriers and small scooters (and I imagine tricycles/small bikes) there. The entire house is dedicated to the daycare, and the daycare is monitored inside and outside with working security cameras. Ms. Tanya delights in the children and takes excellent care of them. She did not attempt to gaslight me into tolerating mistreatment and neglect of my child because "things happen in daycare" and "it's daycare, not babysitting or nanny service". At all times I picked up my daughter, she was clean, her clothes, hair and accessories were intact, she was happy to see me and loved her teacher, she was fed and not ravenous when she returned home and was excited to show me what she learned. When my daughter left, Ms. Tanya was teaching the children Spanish. My Shepherd Daycare is a comforting, nurturing, educational, and safe environment for young children to learn and have fun. I cannot thank Marie Bellevue and Ms. Tanya enough for their empathy, loving care, kindness, consideration, and the invaluable peace of mind they provided my child and me. While I was at work, my mind was at ease because I knew that my daughter was in a safe place, learning and having fun with her peers. If this daycare opened at 7:00 am my daughter would still be there; my daughter had to leave only because a change in my work schedule required that I find a daycare with an earlier start time. We love this daycare so much; I highly recommend My Shepherd Group Family Daycare to everyone I know who is searching for childcare.

He has grown so much over the last two years and his experience has been nothing but joyous. He loved marching into daycare each day and it was clear that he learned a lot and that they really cared for him. Home Sweet Home daycare switched midway through our time there to using an app called brightwheel which made communication and payments easy. Aside from that, what really sealed the deal for me was their intimate family type of setting (the center has a 12 children max count), as I was specifically looking for a place that made my daughter feel at home -- and this was it. I was also thrilled to learn that fresh organic meals were made on site and served everyday. Needless to say, but my daughter is excited to arrive at daycare every morning and is equally happy at pick-up. On the development front, she's ahead of the curve. She attended BB full-time - first in their infant room starting at 4 mos and then in the toddler program through 2.5 yrs (she only left for 3K). Eunice, the head of the program, is wonderful. She is accessible, helpful, always available for a phone call, and very hands-on, so she knows each child well. The staff in both the infant and toddler room are great. They supported our daughter (and us, as first-time parents!) through her many transitions (bottles to solids, crawling to walking, nap schedules etc). Our daughter was always excited to go to daycare, and was in good spirits at pickup.
