Nice guy, but not very experienced. Charged a little higher than other local inspectors. Thought…read morethat would translate into quality. I was sorely mistaken. He did not test any of the outlets much less a 220 wire sticking out of the wall with electrical tape on the end. I don't think he even had a 3-Wire Receptacle Tester. Thus, he didn't check for opens or crossed neutrals. He didn't notice that someone had run copper flex pipe for the natural gas from the attic to the back of the kitchen stove. He missed a major crack in the foundation in the garage or the water and rust stains coming from the electrical box due to seepage from the crack. The icing on the cake..... he passed it !!! He said it just needed some handyman work !!!

Hired Amerispec before I bought my house which was a big mistake. Their inspector missed several…read moreserious issues with the house (serious mold problem in the garage, cracks in the foundation etc). Several contractors who came to fix the problems were surprised that there was an inspection on the house before purchase. They mentioned that these are the kind of problems they see if there was no inspection on the house before purchase. Of course, Amerispec doesn't take any responsibility for their work and it's all in the fine print. In addition, a few months later, they tried to get me to sign up for an "additional service" to review the inspection report with their inspector for an additional hourly fee! Of course, I didn't take that offer and sent them an email to express my dissatisfaction with their work but didn't get a reply which is not surprising. I'll never use Amerispec again or recommend them to anyone. Stay away from this company

Kathy immediately recommended John, and we now know why. John was on time, efficient and thorough. His report was spot on. John gave us an initial quote and we promptly paid John. It turned out that a couple of things did not need to be inspected (because they are the responsibility of the HOA). To our surprise, John sent us a refund of $75. Who does that these days? I highly recommend John for his honesty and integrity.
