He was patient and eager to educate us, assuring we understood his recommendations. The first home inspection likely saved us from entering into a bad purchase situation, and the second offered us valuable insights. He was quick to respond to scheduling requests, accommodating of our schedules and reasonably priced. His use of technology made the process seamless, and we received both reports within only hours of completing the walk-through. We plan to purchase more properties in the future, and without a doubt, will hire Matt as our home inspector again. We highly recommend his business. He also has a great sense of humor and genuine customer service!

Second he pointed out things like torn screens, not the type of thing one needs a home inspection for but he did not address a bump in the hall way floor hardwood that as it turns out was not support according to code. Nor did he mention extension cords in the crawl space of the aun room addition that clearly re not to code. Nor did he address four little brackets that someone put on the floor joist allegedly an effort to provide some type of support. And finally he did not address the sinking of part of the floor in the sun room. All things we have noticed after moving in. These are things that would have effected the offer we made. i understand there are no guarantees associated with home inspections but these are clearly things that should have been at a minimum mentioned in the report

Justin Cowan has inspected my new home on two occasions. The first time our realtor got in contact…read morewith him because there was a warped truss in the roof causing separation of the upper wall and ceiling, and we wanted this looked at before we made an offer on the house. He came out on a Sunday (driving 45 miles to the Madison area), and went up into the attic and made several suggestions to the builder/contractor. He needed to remove a lot of insulation to find other problems and spent a lot of time up in the attic doing his job. He came back again after the work was done and our unfinished basement was completed with 2 bedrooms, bath, and rec room. He did a great job, as he is knowledgable, friendly, courteous, and very professional. I would recommend having him inspect my home anytime. He also is an electrician and this is very helpful. Patrick is exceptionally knowledgeable, and what's more, you can tell he loves homes and loves educating people about them. I took the afternoon off work so I could tag along while he worked, which turned out to be the best home education course I could have imagined. Room by room and space by space, he quickly identified recommendations and suggested timelines for things that would improve the value of the home and our lives in it so I could create a prioritized "to do" list. When he encountered a major safety hazard a previous inspector had missed, he clearly described the issue, provided excellent photographs for documentation, and made suggestions that both solved the problem and were reasonable from the seller's point of view. The turnaround time on his inspection and write-up of his findings and recommendations was outstanding, and when I had a follow-up question, he was very quick to respond. It's clear Patrick is in the home inspection business because he truly cares about helping people through this daunting process. And he makes it fun! (Want to know what a cricket is? Hint: it's not an insect...just ask Patrick!) I look forward to seeking Patrick's advice in the future and recommending New Roots to anyone considering buying a home or preparing their home for sale. 100% amazing!
