Dr. Leah Helin fits all these criteria and a lot more. I have seen maybe ~15 chiropractors all together in my life, Dr. Helin is the best chiropractor I have been to. Yes, she is expensive and we visited a couple others before finally landing there. The first hour visit will count as probably about 3 or 4 visits at another chiropractor. She is that smart, targeted and efficient. The whole family goes with great success. The biggest success is that one child that was told by two orthopedic specialists that surgery was needed, completely avoided surgery because Dr. Helin was part of the treatment. A 3-year old pain I had was identified, targeted, given exercises in ~15 minutes; she helped more in those minutes than 12 hours of physiotherapy. The now better targeted exercises keep me improving a lot faster. Go see her, you won't regret it.

Dr. Leah is, by far, the best, and the most honest. I recently went to a guy in Solana Beach because he had a spine stretching machine (Dr. Leah is always booked, also, so I wanted to go to someone right away for my back pain--I'm an impatient person). The guy told me that the only way I'd get better was to come into his office three times per week for 8 weeks, and use his spinal stretching machine. He also told me that I couldn't do anything active except walk on flat ground for a maximum of 20 minutes at a time. I drove home from there, super depressed and discouraged. Well, after sleeping on it, I came to the conclusion that the guy was full of crap. He also wanted to charge me thousands of dollars to do it "his way." He seemed like a nice guy, but please. Dr. Leah not only gives awesome adjustments, but tells me how to cure my bulging discs. She's honest in telling me that nothing can actually revert them back to how I was 35 years ago, but she said I don't have to get worse, I don't have to suffer in pain so much, and I should still be able to surf, run, do yoga, play tennis, all the things I love. I love that she's a sports-minded practitioner too. She has a positive attitude and is super friendly and likable. She's efficient, too. I am writing this because I found her on Yelp and I want to pay it forward. No one should be debilitated from back pain. I cannot thank Dr. Leah enough for all she's done for me. I have so much more hope, and can do the things I love. She's a keeper.

I'm a former athlete (personal trainer, aerobics, spinning, mountain biking) a yogi, and a writer who, now, spends most of my day sitting. I've had problems with my back, my knees, my feet and with carpal tunnel syndrome. I'm not a cripple but (oy!) I've learned to live with lots of physical impediments. A little pain? So what. Unless it gets really bad, I don't do much about it. And when I am in pain I've seen "the best" -- a couple of well-known chiropractors, a couple acupuncture doctors, an orthopedic doctor, a podiatrist, a physical therapist and lots of sports massage therapists. You get the idea. In the past, the therapy has always worked okay, but what's a little pain, right? I'm used to it. Wrong. In February I got rear ended in my car. I couldn't turn my head. I had tingling in my fingers. I thought I was doomed to be one of those people who had permanent neck damage. You know, the one who talks about their neck pain whenever it rains. Someone reminded me of Dr. Jeremy Brook -- the guy from yoga. Sure, I'll try him, I thought. First off, I called on a Sunday and he CALLED ME BACK. On Sunday. He gave me his cell in case I needed him right away. When I came in, his office staff took complete care of me and all the dreadful insurance stuff. The first visit featured an awesome technological analysis of my spine, my torsion, flexion, extension - my entire ability to move in every direction. I knew he had a complete understanding of his work and my body. After that, the appointments were quick, effective and always left me smiling. On top of being a great chiro, he, Dr. Mike and the rest of the staff are so friggin' nice. If you're a little late or early it's no big deal. It starts to feel like a family. And the weird thing? I FEEL NO PAIN. I actually feel better than I did before the car accident. The other day, I told him I thought the accident was a gift because I had no idea I could really feel so good given all my past injuries. Once the insurance ran out, I opted to keep coming so that I could continue on this journey. The second weird thing? IT'S AFFORDABLE. I've spent so much money in the past with much less improvement. This is worth it! *Does victory dance* Plus the tunes are good. Usually it's Mozart Monday, Blues on Tuesday and it's always Reggae Friday. You come in, get a pop, do some exercises and rock out to some Marley. You see people of all ages and sizes. I even got my chiropractic-virgin husband to go. He was completely skeptical until the techno-wow first visit. He signed on and is ready to get straightened out. I can't say enough good things about these peeps. Salt of the earth. Positive. Supportive. Very, very knowledgeable. And the best chiropractor I've ever been to. My search is over. And I feel good. read more

I'm a mid 40's yoga teacher and dedicated practitioner (who for many years taught high impact aerobics and was a competitive gymnast and diver). I was devastated when my trusted chiropractor moved his practice to Simi Valley! Several of my yogi friends mentioned Dr. Jeremy Brook on Facebook, so I checked him out when my low back went into spasm, which it used to do from time to time. To be honest, at first his approach was a little overwhelming to me. It felt like a huge financial commitment...and I was skeptical. He is not the kind of chiropractor who just gets you out of pain right now, knowing you'll be back sometime soon for the exact same issue. He is about getting to the root of the problem and correcting it. I decided to invest in my body and my wellbeing, and am glad I did. I find Dr. Brook to be incredibly thorough, knowledgeable and safe. Close to a year later, I truly believe that Dr. Jeremy cares deeply for his patients' health, wellbeing and longevity. Dr. Jeremy was recently away on his honeymoon and I had a visit with his associate Dr. Mike. I was a little nervous to have someone else adjust me, yet to my delight found him to be equally fantastic! First and foremost I am a HUGE fan of the practice and saw Dr. Brook for almost two years before relocating to the bay area. The office is always filled with life, positive energy and great music! The staff is sooo helpful and make you feel so at home and comfortable whenever you go in for a visit. As a dancer my body is my profession so keeping it in tune is of the utmost importance. I've been to other chiropractors but none like Dr. Brook. Yoga+Chiropractic+X-rays+about a million other awesome elements= genius, especially for a little artistic math/science nerd like myself. Being able to actually see what is going on in my body through the x-rays, having mathematical calculations through the movement analysis and then having all of that explained to me in such a clear and concise manner was absolutely amazing!! Dr. Brook establishes an immediate trust, genuine and honest connection with his patients that is really communicated through all of his adjustments. I also LOVE how much of an active role I am given in my care through the recommended exercises to maintain adjustments and build overall spinal health. Before seeing Dr. Jeremy Brook, I had doubts about chiropractic adjustments and had negative past experiences with other practitioners. The moment I stepped into the office, though, I felt comfortable. Dr. Brook and his staff have supported me the past 3 months following a car accident. His holistic approach and genuine concern come through not just once in a while, but in every moment I am in the office. In fact, I even feel cared for outside my appointments. It's no longer a surprise to receive voice mails from Dr. Brook checking in with me and sharing suggestions that came to his mind after I left the office. Don't know if I've ever met a practitioner in any modality that appears more personally invested in each of his clients' well-beings. It's evident how much he strives to be totally present with each client. Dr. Brook simply is a nice guy to be around (with a witty sense of humor), and at the same time, he overflows with clinical knowledge and yogic wisdom! I've watched my diagnostic test results improve steadily as we continue on our course, and I surely want to continue routine preventative visits after my spine is healed. As a 27 year-old full time nurse and an overall very active individual, my neck and back were consistently tense and I had limited range of motion. I remember trying to crack my own back 2-3 times everyday. I was feeling very uncomfortable even to the point where my sleep was disturbed daily. I tried stretching before and after my daily workouts and my long 12 hour shifts. I told myself, "I'm a nurse, we all have back issues. It's a part of the job." Thank God Dr. Mike came into my life. My first appointment consisted of going over the areas that I would like to improve, discussing what may be causing the issues I was experiencing, taking some X-rays, developing a plan of care which included weekly visits and daily exercises, and forming goals which kept me motivated. I am a visual learner, so seeing my results from the beginning of my journey with Dr. Mike compared to 3 months later was jaw dropping! Not only do I feel significantly better on a daily basis, but the range of motion numbers and X-rays are visual proof of amazing improvement. I am a very picky patient. It was by accident I happened to be at the Playa Vista Farmer's Market the same day Dr. Mike was there at a booth giving out information and signing people up for an extensive exam for $45. I have been to many chiropractors in the area for a year and did not find ONE that matched up to my doctors in FL or VA. The Life Center philosophy is just like my doctors back East -- it's about the "whole" body not just spinal adjustments. I am very impressed with the professional and easy manner of not only the doctors but the front desk staff. They are always smiling and very willing to work with the patients. Hard to believe some of the reviews which state they had bad experiences. Dr Mike & Dr. Brook are always checking on & correcting the patients who are doing exercises. I have heard both explain in detail the exercises prescribed to new patients. I don't understand the review which stated "It's not all about the money". Ridiculous! The cost for treatments is similar to the cost on the east coast and a heck of a lot cheaper then what your health costs may be like in the years to come! When you walk into Dr J's office, the vibe greets you. He functions at a higher conscious level. The many paintings by Alex Grey provide a hint. When he walks into the treatment room, his friendly attentive focus is immediately felt. Today on Thanksgiving I give a special thanks to Dr Mike who for more than 5 months of treatment and care, today I remembered the first day that I came in desperate to my first appointment. My lower back hurt so much that I could barely walk. I was so bad with my posture, and I could barely walk. Even to think that the pain would never let me run, exercise or even walk without feeling so much pain made me lose hope and optimism. But, from my first appointment with Dr. Mike, he gave me positivity and treated me with care, professionalism, but above all he helped my body heal and go back to normal. He taught me that I should listen to my body, so much that today for the first time in 5 months I ran 10 miles again. And the best thing is I get to enjoy a better posture, walk without pain, sleep without insomnia, and my stress level dropped to a surprising level. I cannot recommend Dr. Jeremy highly enough! His chiropractic care has been life-changing for me. After a car accident left me with herniated discs and excruciating and debilitating pain, conventional doctors told me that spinal surgery was my only option, but even then I'd have to live with pain for the rest of my life. I'm a cyclist commuter who had been experiencing constant pain in my right knee for over 3 months before meeting Dr. Mike at the Abbott Kinney festival. I can't pinpoint when the pain started, but once it began, nothing would take it away - I tried riding slower & even took several days off of riding. I met with Dr. Mike for a consultation and follow up to review my range of motion & x-rays, and he was very confident that he could help me. Thank goodness that I have never had serious back problems. Over the years, beginning in my 20's however I was aware of my neck. It started with lack of perfect mobility when turning to the left. Periodically seeming stiff. Luckily for me and quite to my surprise, I took advantage of a special offer with Dr Jeremy Brook, Chiropractic specialist, and after only 20 visits spread out over several months I have to say that my neck is much more mobile, loose, and without pain as I had occasional pain especially if stressed out. I may have been a skeptic before but now I understand that the techniques used by Dr Brook and his associates, i.e. Dr Mike, are really very effective. I highly recommend Dr Brook, his associates, and his techniques. Plus the office staff could not be nicer and more efficient with us, their clients. My husband found Dr. Brook on Yelp, and I followed soon after, mostly on a whim. Only looking back after a year can I fully appreciate how fortuitous this was. After seeing numerous chiropractors over the last 30 years, I didn't expect relief from discomfort, resolution at the level of alignment or a more in depth understanding of my spine. What I discovered in Dr. Brook is a true healer with incredible skills both with the spine and in building partnerships with his clients as well as staff. I want to thank everyone at the Life Center, especially Dr. Jeremy, for the healing, support and inspiration that came from not just the adjustments and the teaching, but also from the openness and graciousness that everyone showed from Day 1. I started adjustments at the Life Center almost four months ago for neck pain, stiffness and very limited shoulder movement. After three months of adjustments with traction, stretching and strengthening, I have much greater mobility in my neck and shoulder. There are days I actually feel 30 again! I know it will be a long journey of rehabilitation, of creating space in my neck and regaining some semblance of the curve I lost. I was rear-ended and sandwiched between two vehicles while driving and ultimately was in an immense amount of pain from my neck down to my low back. With my lawyer, he recommended that I see Dr. Mike, from The Life Center Chiropractic. Being an active person my whole life the pain I was having was holding me back from all sports and activities I wanted to do throughout my whole life. Dr. Mike and I spent several months together as he was reconstructing my spine and neck. After our sessions were ultimately all over I have never been more flexible in my entire life. I have had more mobility and strength than I ever did pre-accident. I continue to see Dr. Mike on a weekly basis because I truly believe that weekly adjustments are good for your body and soul. I feel very fortunate to have met Dr. Mike Isseks! I had been searching for the right chiropractor and healing practice and luckily I found The Life Center. Dr. Mike has helped me tremendously this summer! He has an amazingly patient, caring attitude and a very clear communication style. He is a gREAT doctor! I have also seen Dr. Jeremy Brook (his cousin) who is a wonderful healer as well. These two are fantastic and I especially love the ease and flexibility of scheduling. They take a holistic approach, the office team is amazing (Darla! Joanne!) and the whole style of the relaxed atmosphere makes it feel more like a healing center/spa, than a typical clinical office. I don't know how I've waited so long to write a review for this amazing place! I've been going to the Life Center for around 2 years, and it is the most magical place on the planet. It feels completely different than any other chiropractic office, as there is an emphasis on holistic wellness and overall strengthening + mobility work. Now, to Dr. Kristyn Silver... she is WORLD CLASS. She has helped me more than words can say, and is extremely kind, sincere, and professional. She completely takes my pain away - I have no idea what I would do without her. Dr. Brook & Dr. Mike are also wonderful and carry phenomenal energy around the office. I live in Scotland but i regularly spend time in L.a. I have had back problems for about 10 years so i have seen a few chiropractors and doctors and nothing helped. When i was in L.a on my last trip i was doing a yoga teacher training, where Dr J was teaching. I loved how passionate he was about his work and how positive he made me feel about helping me fix my spine. Dr J has a lovely centre, everyone of his staff makes you feel so welcome which was great as my son and husband would come along too, my son used to look forward to my visits as they really made us feel at home. I couldn't have asked for a more pleasant experience. Prior to going to The Life Center Chiropractic I'd sought several opinions regarding the constant pain in my neck and the pressure in my head, and the only solution suggested was medication (which I try to avoid). Finally, I was referred to Dr. Brook. I saw Dr. Brook for almost a year, during which he helped to relieve the pain in my neck, the constant pressure in my head, and a variety of other aches and pains. Dr. Brook and his staff are the very best. The office staff was always welcoming and professional and the atmosphere very relaxing. I was never double booked and so my wait was always very short upon arrival (5 mins or less). I would highly recommend The Life Center Chiropractic!!!! read more

Longer story: I had JUST started maternity leave when 2 days in I suddenly had this sharp pain in my back lower left hip. It hindered every ability to walk, reach for things, and worst of all hindered my sleep! I was in a lot of pain whenever I had to make a micro movement lying or sitting down. My plans for leave included plenty of walking and getting things done in the house to be ready for baby. When this pain appeared I was devastated that it wasn't going away and I am not exaggerating when I say I was walking like a 100 year old woman (I am 40)! I started seeing Liesel on my 5th day of pain. After my 2nd session with Liesel I'll be honest I was skeptical. After week 2 I could tell something shifted and my pain was slightly less. But started to feel like the pain would take a step forward and half a step back. I'm writing this 4 days after my 6th session (at 2 sessions a week) with Liesel and I have felt totally normal these last 4 days consistently!!! The pain is GONE. Which means that I'll be able to deliver with better agility, less physical pain, I CAN WALK and sleep! I can't thank her enough! In December 2015, I was desperate for help with ongoing tailbone and low back pain. I had 6 physical therapy treatments, which helped alleviate some of the pain. Then decided to also get Chiropractic help from Dr. Kazem at Socal Chiropractic. Dr. Kazem had great reviews and was located near my home. After my initial consultation, x-rays, discussion about her approach to my condition and my first treatment, I encouraged my wifed to also go. I like Dr. Kazem and his approach to healing--being the responsibility of both the patient and the Dr. I felt an immediate reduction in my pain level and continue to make progress after 4 treatments. He is great to work with and is willing to work with what the patient can realistically commit to. I like that he plays sports, has a great understanding of how muscle and bones work together, is extremely thorough in assessing your condition, provides education and instruction while treating you, is realistic about what she can and may not be able to do given a particular condition, and is interested seeing good long-term results.
