Small local shop in the Drake neighborhood that serves fresh smoothies. Almost hidden between several restaurants. All sorts of smoothies to choose from: green, original, protein. I liked that they used rice milk. And for plant based protein they use hemp seeds. The shop is very small and comfortably allows 2 people to socially distance in the ordering area. Employees are not fully masked. Masks are not required to enter, as the Governor lifted the mask mandates in May 2021. Ordered the Fire Protein smoothie and the Hulk Protein smoothie. Total came to $19.xx before gratuity These were 12 oz cups My Fire Protein Smoothie had banana, berries, rice milk, and hemp seeds. It tasted good. Almost a peanutty flavor. The hulk was delicious too. That one contained whey protein powder. My stars are for the smoothie and service. The shop was outdated, unorganized, and I felt uneasy about lack of pandemic protocol and the cleanliness of the equipment used and cleanliness of the whole shop. I would recommend to get there early so you don't have to be jammed on top of each other even though everyone had their mask on. Outside there are two chairs if you have to endure a wait. Prices are reasonable from $6 and up. Parking is non existent out front, but you can park on the lot a 1/2 a block behind or to the side of the building. It is a small African owned business with fun, fresh healthy drinks--a place where you take your drink and go because it is a no frills business. Want to drink healthy and perhaps extend your life--try their mixtures, and wait for your full burst of energy! Stop by to pickup "My Sweet Greens" while on a rush to complete several time sensitive errors, drawback, the item that I paid for, one gallon of the mixture with a twenty-four hour notice-was not ready. The owner did offer to accommodate my schedule but being an immediate gratification and high expectation person-it would have been an inconvenience to my schedule- therefore I rescheduled to pick up at 10:30 am Monday-since I would make a point to drive over into the area again--we will see! read more

I had about 15 minutes to grab something healthy on a break from work today -- I work right in the Drake neighborhood and was trying to brainstorm something I could grab fast and eat fast . . . I almost gave up an just stayed at work -- but then I remembered this place! I'd always wanted to stop in and today was they day. Fresh juices, fresh ingredients-- and the flavors are phenomenal. Plenty of Vegan smoothie options with Rice Milk available. I went with the Irie, which has Irish Moss, blueberry, avocado, hemp seeds, rice milk, and honey. You don't need additional sweeteners, this is sweet enough on its own! The thing I love most about this place is the vibe -- the owner had the biggest smile and was so friendly. He described every item on the menu well. The reggaes music was on point, and the other customers and I struck up some friendly conversation. This place closed down for a bit, but they are back and here to stay! This was my first time here and wowowowowow I am impressed! First off this place is tiny, almost like ordering from a food truck but in a building! But they have the little spot hopping with a Peter Tosh mix rolling so I was jamming! With other cool names like Marely, OMG, Cool Runnings and Sweet Emotions...man it could take me over 2 months and stopping by 3 times a week to try out every favor on the menu. I also love that they cut and peel and prep the juice right in front of you and add a little honey for sweetness, if you're allergic to Honey or bees make sure you ask them not to add it in. This place is tiny, but full of good energy! A cute family owns it and the two young boys were in charge of customer service while the dad made the drinks. They were very kind and patient, eager to help and excited to serve. They offered their opinions. An excited regular stopped by and raves about the hulk smoothie it was amazing. The texture was nice and the flavor was sweet but earthy with vegetables. They have the most wide variety of ingredients from fruit to vegetables of anywhere in Des Moines. They were playing reggae music and laughing and had such good energy I couldn't help but enjoy myself. The prices are fair for the product. The best part was you can make your own with 5 ingredients and like I said - they have A LOT of variety if you like sweet or healthy fruity or earthy they have it all. Good location next to Drake. Nice to see some relatively healthy options in the area. They have a huge menu of juices, but they'll also make anything you want. Amazing fresh smoothies and juices. You can see and taste the difference, because the fresh fruit and vegetables are chopped right behind the counter. First time I went, dude knew what he was doing, obviously. Great customer service. Second time - the complete opposite. Redhead with 0 facial expression and kept getting confused as to what I was asking her. Kept scratching while wearing gloves until I finally had to ask her to change her gloves after she answered the phone and attempted to pick up cut up fruit with the same hand. Another point of "feedback" is that they put honey into all the smoothies but it's only written in one place in small letters, so easy to miss and I think honey is extra and masks the taste of fruit. However prices are good and my grapefruit juice with a shot of wheat grass was superb, despite my having to micromanage it. read more
