Hi,I am going in for my sixth chemo treatment tomorrow and…read moreFriday I have my bi weekly acupuncture treatment with Acupuncture Alternative.I have been under there care for almost 3 years and they have help me thru some very tough times. My regular visits coupled with my intravenous chemo treatments have helped me reduce my PSA in half.I know they both have teamed up and are giving me a fighting chance to live . The acupuncture treatment has provided pain relieve and other general wellness things like reduced body inflammation. Would I recommend Eric and Acupuncture Alternatives? After being diagnosed as having fourth stage mastic prostate cancer a little over three years ago and having made the positive progress I have made to date. I would recommend them with my life. They have helped me so much.

He's very experienced yet always studying--the breadth and depth of his knowledge in ALL health areas is astounding. He is also kind, gentle, a deep listener and has such intuitive intelligence in supporting your healing process. He keeps changing as you do, to truly "meet" you where you are at any moment. I relax the minute I walk through those doors, knowing I'm in such good hands. He treats you like you are a dear family member and it matters everything to him to help you all he possibly can. I've experienced many types of Chinese and Alternative doctors, many truly wonderful, but he is the best by far. You cannot really give a person like that a title, like "Chinese" or "Alternative" Doctor, because what he does goes so, so far beyond all that.

The location is quite accessible from both the south and west sides of the city, and appointments are available in the evening after work, which was super convenient. The clinic is not very busy, and I was able to schedule appointments on my chosen dates and times with no hassle. The building the clinic is located in is a little run down, and it's not the nicest clinic (I always wanted to use the hand sanitizer by the door when leaving). One Google review I found commented on how sour and unpleasant one receptionist was, and boy they were not kidding. I feel like the appointments initially helped my healing, and getting mobility movements through my ribs and chest and an assessment of my strength was important. As my treatments continued however, I was less and less satisfied, and they began to feel like a waste of my time. After three weeks of going twice a week, I still wasn't given any new treatment or progression in any exercises. I was often left alone with a hot pad for half the visit, with it sitting so long it went cold on at least one occasion. Most visits were just being instructed to do the same exercises as the previous visit after laying with a hot pad, with no supervision or guidance. I could have easily done this at home on my own. I was not pleased that throughout my visits I saw no improvement in the pain I was feeling, and actually experienced increased pain for days after having my neck aggressively moved around (the pain was so bad I nearly had to go home from work). Despite my feedback the therapist continued with the same adjustments every treatment. My therapist did not want to amend my insurance forms so I could supplement physio with massage, as any visits to a massage clinic would be one less I could come for a physio treatment (he said this). I finally ended up going to a second clinic for an assessment, and found my treatment there to be so much better than Meadowlark. My assessment at Meadowlark was under 15 minutes, whereas it was a full hour at the second clinic I went to. Meadowlark did not offer me any of the treatment I was offered at the second clinic (cupping, TENS therapy, massage and self-massage, print-outs of take home stretches and exercises, taping of muscles, active release therapy, home treatment aids, etc.), and lacked modern professional touches such as computers to take notes on, and using actual equipment to measure range of motion rather than a qualitative visual assessment. In short, I felt like the time I was spending was being maximized for the clinic's benefit, and not necessarily mine. The clinic is lacking in modern treatment methods, and in quality, comprehensive care, especially after the emotional trauma associated with a car accident. Meadowlark wasn't right for me, and there are better options available in the city.

Please think twice before booking a massage here, or working as an employee here. The owners do not…read morealways change the sheets or wash their hands between each client. The techniques they use can be dangerous to clients, such as deep massage along the spine. When asked about the dangers of this such as osteoperosis or early onset of such they would resend along the lines of "that's what malpractice insurance is for." They try and train their new RMT employees to do the same thing. They say that the popping you experience, when you roll off of a tight muscle is just the muscle releasing. This isn't in any way true. It is in fact just them rolling off a tight muscle. They pressure their employees to ALWAYS re-book clients because massage should always be an ongoing thing. I myself have always felt that massage should be something to improve your quality of life, not to just get you through so you can come back again. They are not always kind to their employees or their clients and often times I would notice that they weren't always sure what certain muscles or techniques even were. I know these things because I am a former employee of this clinic. I would often feel belittled. After a bad experience with a male client who propositioned me, I was only told that I was too "nice" and that's why he did it. I was then asked to see if another massage therapist would be able to take him as a client instead of me. I would feel like a child being scolded when I didn't know how to do something with the computers or insurance. In fact it was my very first massage job and as soon as I was hired the owners left me to take care of their clinic and all their clients while they left for a week on vacation. Massage was really the only thing I did know how to do at the time. I was told as an employee I would still need to buy 10 sets of sheets to contribute to the clinic and help pay for business cards. I would need to get my own table, music and oils. Please make sure you know exactly what you are getting into if you decide to book a massage here.
