I have been a member of 2 other local gyms, could not remain a consistent member. December 2025 my wife convinced me to stop-over at Lifetime. Nick Sanders took us on a tour, explained the facilities, costs, etc. I am overwhelmed by the place & concerned I won't fit-in nor learn he equipment. Nick spoke extensively with me about how common this emotion is for both women & men! He counseled me to take 1 step at a time and understand this was an important lifestyle decision. I've been a member at Life Time Syosset for a few years now, and I can confidently say it's worth every penny. it's not just a gym, it's a full-on luxury resort for fitness and relaxation! Prices are a bit steep but it gets better if you go on a family plan. They also provide a lot of gym amenities to make the pricetag worth it. From pickleball courts to rock climbing. Basketball courts as well. There are so many things to do at the facility beyond normal gym and fitness. They also have an indoor and outdoor pool. Both of them are very large and spacious. The outdoor one also has waterslides and a poolside bar and grill. It really feels like a resort. The indoor amenities are good as well. You can relax in the hot tub or sit in a sauna/steam room. There are also cold plunge pools. I love the unlimited studio classes. Xtreme intervals and maxout upper/lower body are my favorites. The instructors are energetic and motivating. They always keep me on my toes while keeping the overall class still fun and entertaining. If you're looking for more than just a basic gym, Life Time is the place to be. I took an early ashtanga yoga class with Christine and am so glad I did. She's a knowledgeable and terrific instructor with an infectious positive attitude! She's encouraging but doesn't push you beyond your limit, and she offers modifications if needed. You leave her class feeling great and like you've accomplished something, which you certainly have. The yoga studio is also clean and inviting and overlooks the outdoor pool. The gym overall offers a ton of amazing amenities and is huge, with something for everyone and every type of workout. There are even work stations set up in case you need to do some work between your workouts and/or classes. There's even a cafe and shop. read more

I had a very unpleasant experience at the Lifetime front desk today. I went there around 1PM to ask about a billing question. At that time, one staff member was on the phone, and another (a lady in a green shirt and black skirt, I believe her name is Christina) was helping two women on a tablet. I waited patiently right next to their computer, standing quietly and giving them space, expecting that once they were done, someone would help me. When Christina finished with the two women, instead of acknowledging me, she immediately started helping another lady who had just walked up. I politely said "excuse me" and reminded her that I had been waiting first. Rather than apologizing or addressing me, she simply said she couldn't help me because she didn't know how to use the computer and that I had to wait for the other staff member who was still on the phone. When the other staff member finally got off the phone, instead of turning to me, she and Christina chose to help the other lady together. I had to get their attention again just to be acknowledged. The entire interaction felt dismissive. At no point did either of them apologize or show basic courtesy. Eventually, the lady who had been on the phone did help me with my billing question, but by then the experience had already felt extremely unprofessional and disrespectful. I was polite and patient throughout, yet I left feeling ignored and mistreated. For a club like Lifetime, I expected much better service and respect for members' time. read more

In spite of the club being over crowded my family has been a member since last 5 years, however absolutely shocked at the way they correspond or communicate with their members. I had requested for a pause on my membership at the cost of $15 per month, but now that I'm back and want to restart my membership they are saying that going forward PER MONTH my fees have gone up as THEY didn't pause my membership but instead had cancelled it. This is ridiculous, why do I have to pay for their mistake. I've a gym in my own community but inspite of that we pay nearly $450 every month for LT. Doesn't seem like they appreciate old members. I was a member with my 6 year old son a couple of years ago. We both contracted coxsackie virus there. We used the pool mostly and the family changing rooms. Six months later we contracted it again. It was definitely from the Syosset Life Time facility. They don't clean this place properly. Dirty towels piled up etc. Contacted them about it and got no response. They even gave me trouble when I tried to cancel my membership. I should have contacted the county health department. read more

Too expensive for the rude attitude by staff. There are never any makeup wipes in the bathroom. If you left something at the locker room by mistake and it's nice.. you'll never see it again. I'm scared to approach the lady in the locker room. She always has an angry face but i see her talking to people from her culture for an hour. Super crowded. I wish i had an alternative. I'd be gone. They are lucky only b/c of that. The kids academy. I have the kids there for the classes but each time i ask the kids how was class... they respond: we had free-time.. it's like all they do is babysit the kid in the classes. I do not need babysitting! Also, babysitting is free in some gyms. I've been a member for 2 years and I'm disappointed more and more each visit. My opinion: super overpriced for what we get. I have been member since 2019, about a month before Covid shut down NY. It used to be a great club but the last year the place has changed for the worse. The business model must be to oversubscribe memberships. I am contently fighting to get on equipment. People loiter on machines scrolling on their phones or socialize. It feels like planet fitness now except 1000% higher in member ship fees. I heard this is how the Garden City location, heard their manager is now running this location. I've complained but nobody really cares. It's all about the new members and their families. If this doesn't change by the end of March I'm cancelling and going back to LA Fitness. read more

I visited this location on July 25th around 1:30 pm. I had been given a day pass for this location several months ago. I walked in and was the one to greet the front desk to tell them about the day pass and ask about the layout of the gym. A young guy with brown hair stated that they don't have day passes. I said well I have a day pass and it's clearly still active because the QR code on the app is there and I was able to schedule classes a couple of days ago in preparation for my visit today. He said it's expired, which was clearly not the case, again because the QR was active. He also tried to say that day passes could only be used the day they are purchased. Here is a direct quote from the Life Time website clearly stating that this isn't the case: "After purchase, you can select any day and time that works for you to come in and experience Life Time." It was pretty clear he was trying to come up with excuses to not validate the day pass for whatever reason, but he could've at least strung together a more cohesive single lie and stuck to it rather than making up three or four. I asked him to show me where it said the day pass couldn't be applied in the policies, to which he mumbled something about being digital and not being able to find it because there are no papers. Don't you have a tablet somewhere to look up your policies? I said I'll happily leave if he finds this policy and is able to point it out to me. He clearly couldn't find anything stating it was expired or ineligible. He asked an older lady with black hair who appeared to be a manager and she said they'll allow it. No apology, no stating of an actual policy, nothing but crassness. In actuality, there is a day pass but it must've been discontinued at the Syosset location. Nevertheless, it should have been a very minor thing to verify and let me go about my way. I then left to go workout. On my way out, about an hour later, I pointed out to the same older lady manager that it specifically states on the website that the day pass can be used whenever and that it does not have an expiration date. At this point, a bald guy who seemed like another manager (there's some irony in the number of managers and the extent to which this place is mismanaged) kept regurgitating the same spiel about not having a day pass. Like sir, at least know your know own policies. If I have a day pass for this location, even if they are no longer being sold, I am still able to use it without this much of a commotion. If I wasn't, there would either be an expiration date which means the QR code would not work or you would be forced to refund the amount of the day pass for services not rendered. Whilst this is going on, another female blonde worker seemed to be listening and laughing at the situation. Again, I'm so glad you take your job as keeper of the gym so seriously. You and your coworkers really are quite the cohesive unit. Truly, I am impressed and amused at the amount of effort they exert trying to keep people who have a paid membership out of the gym than in. Overall, for a $100 day pass or even general membership, anyone wanting to come to this gym can find more class and professionalism at a Planet Fitness. read more

I tried to look past the filthy change rooms, crowded amenities and incredibly unfriendly staff but enough is enough something needs to be said.. ever time i'd come to this club i hoped things would be different but every time it's the same thing.. the showers, steam room etc are disgusting and i've usually been impressed with the staff lifetime has but the staff at this gym has been subpar to say the least. Rude and inattentive. The other day the entire change room spent over 20 minutes just waiting for a towel to dry themselves off. If I could give this gym a 0 stars I would. You pay a lot to come here the staff should be more friendly and knowledgeable. I have been coming here for a few years, so have lots of thoughts to share. I mostly have a positive opinion of Lifetime, so will start with the negative. * Way overpriced! They keep increasing those prices without justification (ie not making any improvements). Their pricing structure supports the messed up idea that health and fitness is only for the wealthy. In a time when money is tighter for so many, they don't ease up, but continue to charge more. * Personal training feels cookie cutter Personal training should be customized to you, but I had the sense that I was given the same workout the PT had given to loads of other people without actually considering me! For that price (which is actually reasonable according to industry norms), no thank you! * It's supposed to be a facility to promote health. Yet during the biggest health crisis of our age, their response was irresponsible. So much so that I paused my membership until things got better. As Lifetime is untrustworthy in respect to safeguarding my health. * Cafe is the worst! The food is gross, and horribly overpriced. On top of that, the food options don't really align with health/fitness goals in a meaningful way. * Family swim hours are disappointing. Little kids are up early, so the fact that I pay for my kid to be a member, but she can't swim until 10 am is BS. These hours are clearly made by a non parent. * The app really sucks! Now for the positive: * Staff is lovely, friendly, and very helpful! * Facilities and equipment are top notch. For a real fitness junkie, they have everything you can dream of. They have Jacobs Ladder, Woodway & Technogym Treadmills, Battle Ropes, TRX, and ever major and minor resistance tool you can dream of. * Amenities are fantastic! Towel service, saunas, and steam rooms are fantastic. * Indoor/Outdoor Pools are I am honestly only here for the pool. I am a swimmer and appreciate these gorgeous pools. I just wish the aqua aerobics could be a little quieter. PROTIP: If you like peaceful swims, don't swim at 9 am when the water aerobics teacher is screaming into her mic. * Kids Club has really improved over the years!!! They have fun things to play with, and great classes for the kids. What's even better is that they have these Mini Camps for the kids during school breaks. This has saved me more than once. Disappointing. Shower floors, bathrooms missing hooks behind doors and not kept clean all the time. Wipes in floors not always filled. Mats not wiped down. Towels thin and hard. Stay away from their pools! It's well-documented and talked about how people would go from the steam room to the pools to cool off. There are stairs leading into the lap pool, and people would lounge in there after the steam room and jacuzzi--100% health violation. Really want that filth in your mouth while underwater? My swim team discussed it with management, who did nothing. The front desk employees told us it was because the GM was too afraid to put up a poolside notice that it was a health violation and not to do it. I hope the gym responds here--I am happy to provide several videos of men, one after another, going from the steam room into the pool in a 20-minute period! It was my first time going to the spa to get a haircut. It took me 55 mins to get there exactly on time. The only hairstylist was working with someone. After waiting close to 15 minutes, a staff member apologized and told me the hairstylist was wrapping up and would be able to see me in a couple of minutes. I looked at the hairstylist and she appeared to still be very busy. I wondered if there was maybe another hairstylist working in the back, and I just didn't see her because this one didn't appear in a hurry or wrapping up. After waiting close to 20 mins I realized I was getting anxious, and that is my signal that this was becoming an unpleasant experience, and decided it was time to leave. I stood up as the hairstylist was walking to the back room, and to my surprise, the person getting her hair done jumps up and tells me she is finished. Then I realized she is also a staff member there who wad getting her hair done while I was waiting and waiting!! How unprofessional is that!!! This person can get her hair done anytime she wants, but chose my time slot to get hair done! That really annoyed me. I said, that's cool, no thank you, and walked out. The young receptionist was helpful when I first walked in, but that was it. I could've thought of a million things I could've done with my Friday afternoon than this terrible experience. read more

My wife and i wanted a tour of this $280/mo athletic center. We went there on Sunday June 25 at 7 PM and walked out absolutely disappointed by treatment of lady at front desk named 'Kristin'. She appeared overworked and was quite dismissive of our request for tour saying she's alone at desk and cannot show us around. At same time there was another male employee who stopped by at front desk and they were just chitchatting. An existing customer also saw her behavior and offered she can show us around as a guest on her own membership. But Kristin declined that she cannot let us in even as her guest (which shocked that nice lady too) I have no idea what was her problem with us and why she would just not entertain us. Am also wondering they cannot hire two people at front desk despite being most expensive gym on LI? If this is how they humiliate their potential customers I cannot imagine how bad it will be after one joins. The facilities are very dirty, specially the showers and the changing room, there is hair and water all over the place. Classes are really busy with people always invading your personal space. The swimming pool is full of people eating and just having a picnic over there, specially on Sundays, and of course no towels. Brittany, the childcare director is the worst, she kicked my son out only because he is non verbal and she can't have no verbal kids in her facility. You better have no issues in here because they will be sending you to Matthew, then to Edwin, then to Matthew, and just get you dizzy. I can just say: look for another place! Great gym! Great people! I have been going to this gym over 4 years now. They are a little more expensive than some of the other gyms like Retro or NYSC. But this is a full service feature kind of gym. A lot of amenities to fit your needs and whatever works for you. For me personally, I go to the complimentary classes like strictly strength, CRT, High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT). I found that works for me the best. Clean everywhere from swimming pool to lady's locker room. Life Time gives me a nice healthy lifestyle. Best workout facility ever! I would give a 4.5 stars! read more

Went looking for a gym to join for myself and wife. The Lifetime Gym is definitely the Rolls-Royce of gyms. The sales associate was very nice, friendly and very knowledgable of all the aspects of the gym. The Lifetime Athletic Gym has every thing you could possibly imagine and more, And is open 24 hours a day. For me i loved the 4 pools and the sauna and steam rooms and jacuzzi. I was in heaven when i saw all of this. They also have martial arts and yoga and pilate classes all included in the membership. And if that was not enough they have every possible machine you can think of , and they have tons of each kind so you never have to wait to use a machine. The only negative aspect i would say is the price 219.00 a month for 2 of us. Even at 219.00 a month it is still less expensive then some of the other gyms in the area that are smaller with a lot less to offer. read more

When I fist joined the gym back in 07 I thought it was the most beautiful place in the world!!! I was obsessed with my gym. However, I came down from that cloud real quick! A few months into my membership I noticed the women's locker rooms were filthy. I don't blame employees at all. I see them working day and night. I blame members!!! Who the heck would hack up spit while showering!!!! What kind of person would leave used razors in the shower. What kind of disgusting person would poop in the shower!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If the members don't take care of the place I don't except the employees to keep it spotless. Yes it's there job and they do what they can to keep it clean but come on people don't be so gross! My second issue with this gym is recently I've noticed this Alpha class. Looks really fun and looks like a great overall body workout! You have to pay extra to join these classes. Okay fine pay or don't pay I don't care. What I do care is that this gym only has 4 or 5 squat/deadlift etc machines or stations. Which now are all being used for these Alpha classes. It's not fair because the hours that they are being used are when of course I can go! It's upsetting they take all of the stations. So basically I'm paying over $300 to just use the machines free weights oh and I love the sauna and steam room I would never shower nor swim at my gym! read more

We all know Lifetime Fitness and the breadth of the facilities. For me, Lifetime Fitness in Syosset is exceptional due to the staff. When you arrive, the front desk team of Hanna and Sean are welcoming and attentive to all requests. Such a big club could lack personality however, the people bring a personal experience which is appreciated. I'm not sure they ever go home as they seem to be a permanent fixture whenever I arrive. At the Pickleball courts, Both Leslie and Sunil are encouraging and helpful both to beginners as well as keeping the courts orderly. read more

The gym itself is well built. The management can do better managing this place. The Indoor Outdoor pool is big for a gym, and is relatively clean depending on how much people are using it. The crowd is not terrible since Garden City opened, and limited guest access. There's also hot tub inside and outside too. Big plus. The machines and weights are standard and they have enough so it never runs out. Cardio machines are also aplenty so there's never a wait really.They just upgraded half of their treadmills. Classes are great but they never change schedule so it's hard for me to explore more classes since my schedule is limited. Locker room is A OK, but watch out for kids that just pOop on the floor and the parent just doesn't care. I've seen maggots crawling on the shower floor. Really sloppy management. You should really keep your shower/locker room clean if you want to charge people 300 a month and be the high end gym you wanted to be. If you want to be "family oriented", have a method to control your irresponsible parents and their children so other member won't suffer while they're just trying to workout and relax. Speaking of children/teenager, now the outdoor pool is open for the summer, are they taking school campers here now? I've seen teens (mostly boys) running around, disobeying safety rules and just generally being rude and loud and obnoxious. They don't seems to listen to the lifeguards who are also teenagers.
