Lifetime has been a staple gym in sugar land for as long as I can remember. Yes, LT memberships are expensive, but you are paying for the experiences and all the services that Lifetime has to offer. Personally, I play a ton of pickleball so having SL lifetime as my home gym (where there's now 3 indoor courts and 13 outdoor courts) has allowed me to enjoy the game that I love. I have also been taking spin classes every week and enjoy exploring the myriad of classes that Lifetime offers outside of spin. I feel like nothing beats a gym like this, where I can get pickleball, fitnesses classes, weight training, cafe/study space, indoor and outdoor pools, and recovery equipment all in one place. Sure, sugar land LT is on the older side, but this membership lets you explore all other LTs in the nation (depending on your tier), so if you're on the fence about starting a membership, this is your sign to do so!! read more

I have been a loyal member of Life Time since the Sugar Land club first opened, and I am extremely disappointed by the direction the company has taken--especially regarding pricing. Every single year since COVID, there has been a membership increase, and at this point it feels less like "premium service" and more like taking advantage of long-standing members. I recently received notice that my monthly dues will increase from $239 to $279, effective January 1, 2026. The message claimed this was somehow a benefit because my rate is "$70 below new members." After supporting this club since day one, I don't believe I should be paying anywhere close to what new members pay--much less enduring constant annual increases. Where is the appreciation for loyal, tenured members who helped build this club from the ground up? Life Time's response feels dismissive and out of touch. Being told that the price hike is part of their "commitment to a premium membership experience" is honestly frustrating. The experience hasn't changed enough to justify these repeated increases, and loyalty clearly doesn't matter here. I've enjoyed being part of this community for years, but it's disappointing to see that long-term members are treated no differently than new sign-ups. I will be giving my 30-day notice and transitioning to EOS Fitness, which is covered by my health insurance and actually values its members. Life Time used to be worth it. I purchased the lifetime membership for the promise of flexible, accessible pickleball. The facility itself is nice, and when you can get on a court, the play is good. However, the actual "open play" access has been a massive disappointment and feels systematically unfair. Open play doesn't begin until 9:00 PM, after leagues end. So as someone who works a 9-5 I either play late at 9 pm or not at all since there are leagues almost every day. The app consistently shows that all courts are "unavailable" or "reserved for leagues" until 9:30 PM, with no option for members to reserve any court for the 9:00 PM slot. Yet, without fail, Court #3 is always occupied immediately at 9:00 PM by the same group of people. Every. Single. Time. I've checked the reservation calendar for months in advance. There are never any public reservation slots available for 9:00 PM. So how is this one group consistently reserving the same court at the same time? The only logical conclusion is that they are getting special treatment, likely working with an employee to reserve courts "behind the scenes" outside of the system. This creates a two-tiered system: one for this insular group with inside access, and one for the rest of us who paid for the same membership. It forces me into a bad choice: either try to squeeze in play super late after they finish, or (in colder months) freeze outside. The value of a "lifetime" membership plummets when you can't actually access the courts in a fair and transparent way. I want to support this business, but until the reservation system is fixed and applied equally to all members, I cannot recommend it. Please fix this transparency issue. read more

I've been a member at Lifetime for 10 years. I started with no gym experience, and I began attending the group fitness classes with Ashley and Thais. They genuinely changed my life. They made working out fun. Thais' cycle class on Sunday mornings was my favorite part of the entire week. I've never worked harder in my life and loved every second of it and the same goes for any class Ashley led. They were both beloved by everyone, even people who didn't take their classes. They have incredible energy and the best auras. Both of them were fired under the new group fitness management. Thais' spin class had an average waitlist of 20 people. Getting in was VERY competitive. She was fired for absolutely no good reason. And when you try to talk to management about it, they won't address a single concern. They completely disregard how you feel. In the 10 years I've been here, I've never once had to message management or complain. This new management has let so many of us down. There isn't even a GM anymore because he was fired, so there's no one to talk to and even when there was someone, they didn't help me or the 50 other unhappy members paying $160 a month (and more for some). I even upgraded my membership so I could schedule classes earlier than others who didn't choose to upgrade. Yes, they make you pay extra for that. Ashley and Thais were the product we were paying for and now they're gone. Their terminations were completely unjustified. Group fitness classes here used to be the best you could find. Not anymore. If all you're looking for is to lift weights, then this is your gym. But don't expect anyone to address your concerns or care about what makes you happy as a paying customer, because you'll be ignored. read more

This used to be a good gym but has really gone down hill. GM quit (they all do eventually) and now they have an incompetent Studio Manager running the show and ruining the experience. Fired the good instructors and brought in less experienced ones. They used to have over 9k members now about half that and going down fast. All they care about is how much $$$ they can gouge you for. I had an awful unsettling experience a couple weeks ago with the towel person named John. I got locked out of my locker and I needed help getting my stuff out and this person named John was called to help me. His demeanor was very offputting, and he came across as extremely rude. When I thanked him, he didn't bother to respond. Perhaps I caught him on a bad day, but this isn't why I'm giving this place a one star, I'm giving this place a one star review because of what happened right after he walked away, minutes later, I overheard him talking to someone outside the locker room (where they folded the towels) he seemed to be complaining about a guest and then out of the blue: I heard him used the N-word. It's not my imagination. I know what I heard. He said the N-word clearly referring to someone who African-American. I could not believe my ears. I was shocked. I didn't even know how to react. Not only did this ruin my entire day, but I decided to ask for this gentleman's name. And another employee was kind enough to discreetly inform me of his name: John Cardona. I don't care if someone was using the N-word as the casual manner form, but this was not the casual form. He said the N-word as in the racist offensive derogatory form. The racial slur directed at black people. What guest wants to go to a gym where the towel person is going around using the N-word, so openly. Especially when there are guests who are African-American that come to this gym. I will be emailing a complaint to corporate over this incident. When I tried to complain to a manager that day, it seemed like no one knew where the manager was. I left. I see they have management responding to people on here with the same generic "we are sorry to hear that your experience was less than ideal. We'd love to continue the conversation...". This is nonsense and disrespectful to the paying customers. They need to do better. It's 2024. Are they really letting people like this represent an exclusive gym like Lifetime?? Racism is shameful. I will not stand for this. No one should have to stand for this. I have nieces and nephews that are half African Americans, so I take this extremely personal. It hurts. I use several Lifetime gym locations, but I do not see myself coming back to this location because I fear I will have a run in with this person. It's not not right. read more

Since 24 Hour Fitness closed in Sugarland, I have been searching for a reputable gym to hang. Recently, a Zumba instructor inspired me to attend her class at Life Time Fitness in Sugarland. I really looked forward to try it out. This was on a Thanksgiving morning. Lots of people came and went, busier than grocery store on a Christmas eve. I think it was because it only opens till noon on turkey day. Everywhere I looked, they were all young and in shape. Ok fine. I'm old and out of touch. I already felt pretty bad coming here. I walked up to the counter and asked if I can attend the Zumba class without a membership. This young man was really friendly and asked me to step on my left. So, he can scan members in. "Oh, let me check... Sorry the class is over." He offered to check if the instructor was still here and asked me to have a seat. "Sorry. She's gone." The entire time he never offered me to join the membership. It's okay. I wouldn't want to come here to see my old fart on the gym floor and being laughed by those youngans. I'll just go home to join my AARP virtual classes. read more

Nearly 20-year LF Sugarland of TX member. Since the current manager arrived, Sugar Land Lifetime has gone downhill. Fees keep rising while service drops. Great, experienced instructors were removed, and many group classes are being canceled with no explanation. Poor management decisions are affecting hundreds of loyal, long-term members. Lifetime Fitness is a great place to work out and it's close to my house. There is a restaurant, places to sit and work on your computer, a salon, lots and lots of classes and tons of room. It's a great place to work out! The most wonderful thing is that my monthly dues are paid for by Silver Sneakers. The only bad news is that fans are not provided at all. Nor are the rooms cool enough. So, if you're a senior doing an hour's worth of aerobic exercise you get no air at all and it's very uncomfortable, not to mention unsafe. read more

My wife and I were founding members of Lifetime Sugar Land. The membership we have was classified as a Sports Couple and told rates were locked in and not subject to increases. Well, years later, we keep getting increased and pay $213.00/month now which was a far cry from the $93.00/month we used to pay. As of late, more equipment appears to be broken or out of order for weeks at a time. Pickleball was FREE at the beginning and eventually became an "extra" that you had to pay for as well as the hydration/massage chairs too. The locker room is often dirty during the afternoon and evening hours. There are towels just thrown on the floor or left in shower stalls. The steam room should change its rules to say no street clothing or tennis shoes. Tennis shoes carry germs and makes the sauna unhealthy. Bathing suit or a towel along with shower shoes should only be allowed. I have started looking for another gym and sadly it appears our tenure at LTF will be coming to an end soon as a decline in quality and overpricing playing key factors. read more

I too experienced on two occasions last week at the Sugar Land location where there is limited use for the facility for paying members. Saturday was a birthday party, my guess, at the indoor pool. While we were able to use the pool, there was 60 to 70 guests and a DJ playing the music so loud, it was disturbing. Not sure how many of the guests were members, but it seems you can pay to rent the facility for some price and do what you want at the enjoyment of the paying members. On Sunday I went to practice basketball with my son and arrived to find a bounce house on one of the courts. We went to the other court to practice and was informed that someone had rented the entire basketball area and the party room next door until 6 pm. The young man that informed me was polite and explained his position and was just doing his job. I asked if there was a manager I could speak to about it and he left and never came back. No manager arrived either. Overall, my experiences at Lifetime have been pleasant, but these last two incidents makes a paying member feel unappreciated. read more

Another man standing and witnessing this states he has told management more than once that this is a wet spot next to their Suitmate water extractor machine but to no avail. I have been a member and former employee at lifetime for 8 years and over the years, the price increase has been insane! I am on an account with 1 other person, and we are charged a total of just short of $250 monthly. Every guest I have brought to LT is shocked when I tell them the price I pay. I have had many bad experiences here, but lately I am not able to take it anymore. With the price I am paying, I don't have access to pickleball, massage chairs, Pilates class, repeat guests, and much more. For that price you only get access to the packed pool, hot tub and machines upstairs. Every time I go, there are always reserved machines for classes or personal training clients and they're not even using them. The personal trainers there are such a scam too! Like I said I've been coming here for years and am always observing trainers letting their clients practice bad form that could lead to injury. Not to mention the number of times I've been hit on by a personal trainer while trying to work out alone, which I consider highly inappropriate. I would say the place is always filthy, but the staff doesn't even get paid enough to do all that cleaning. A friend of mine still works here and only gets paid $13/ hr. after 3 loyal years. Anyway, I will be looking elsewhere for a gym. Don't waste your time here. read more

I'm in town visiting for about 3 months, I needed a gym with pool facilities and I was excited about the opportunity to join, although, this gym is about 30 minutes from where I am staying. I drove over to visit and take a tour, the staff informed me that they could only give me a tour "by appointment only", I told them "I don't really need a tour, I would just like to take a look to see if I'm interested in joining", they said "sorry they couldn't allow that". I informed them of my long drive over and told them "if they caused me to waste an hour of driving it would be unlikely that I would return", the once again said "sorry" and dismissed me. This gym clearly does not value new members, is understaffed, and / or already has too many members. Staff was snooty and unhelpful, didn't even offer to set up a future appointment for me to visit and take a tour! read more

Overpriced! Went to Sugar Land after Cinco Ranch and found the same ineptitude in a nicer, more expensive facility. Trainers have the standard Lifetime training as well as NASM, ACE, etc. Unfortunately, these certifications are obtainable in a few weeks. Tests are often open book resulting in two issues that adversely affect athletes, members. First, expertise, subject matter depth in exercise science is clearly lacking as how much does one learn in a few weeks. Second, an open book approach does not force the student to commit details to memory where it can be recalled and properly applied in your training. Having an academic background in exercise physiology as well as several certifications, I found zero trainers that could answer basic 101 questions: if you took biology in middle or high school, you learned how the body produces energy, the Krebs cycle (ATP to ADP). The key to training is how we improve the efficiency and effectiveness of this energy producing cycle for health, fitness and athletic performance. Sadly, not one trainer could discuss this let alone knew the difference between lactate and lactic acid production. These are basic building blocks, fundamentals as to how the body processes fuel and waste these during triathlons...Sound training improves the body's ability to move lactate to mitochondria where it can be turned into glycogen to fuel the athlete versus turning into lactic acid which degrades performance. But they charge my card twice after that and when I called to talk to department related with payment manager the name was Michael was so rude and unprofessional,he said they don't have any record for that and it's look like I'm lying!!! Even after I tried to get my answered about canceling my Acount , without any response about my question he just cancel our Acount and never refund those charges and he said it will be terminate for 30 days. My husband and I have both complained about how dirty it is. No one is picking up towels left on the floor, water bottles and cleaning tissues left in different machines. We usually go to Greenway or City Center. But we came to the Sugarland location for a kid's bday party and thought it was great. The staff were fantastic and encouraging when the kids were doing rock climbing. Bathrooms were clean and neat. A large Kids pool area, both inside and out. We were able to try the indoor water slide and pool since it started raining outside (so they had to close the outdoor pool). We will be back to do more rock climbing! read more

So last year I moved and I left Lifetime City Centre for Sugar Land location. This Sugar Land location although it is only one tier less in the Lifetime scale, it's quite the step down from City Centre. Management is trying, though....I see employees vacuuming and taking/picking up towels. The main issue is overcrowding. There are not enough yoga studios, big enough workout rooms, space overall. The monthly membership for me dropped about $20 but I would gladly pay that for a better experience. There are certain popular classes that are almost impossible to get into and they don't add any more(even with different instructor). FIT is full all the time and I don't see instructors enforcing the rules for ones that are waitlisted. There is only one bathroom upstairs in dire need of expansion/even renovation would be good. On a positive note, I have always been polite and all team members are polite. Also, the daycare ladies always know how to ensure kids have a good time, the front desk is friendly and instructors are good. read more

For the second week in a row, the outdoor pool facilities (Missouri City Loction) were rented out and the pool closed to paying members. I've never been a member of gym before that has utilized this practice. Typically gyms price their memberships to sustain the operations of the gyms. They don't have to look at other money making efforts to keep the doors open. With the membership rates so high, why is Life Time still needing profits to be in the black? Did the powers that be not plan accordingly? Not my problem. And makes me mad when I work sometime 16 hour days. I go to the gym expecting facilities that should be available during the hours of operation to be available for use and they are either limited or not available at all. I get told...oh read the news on the club page. Well, when I work a 16 hour day, I'm lucky to get time away to work out, I don't have time to leisurely read a phone app when all resources at the gym should be available to me without a reservation (except classes that require me to do so) during the hours of operation at any Life Time Fitness gym I may visit. On the first occasion where the Missouri City gym closed the outdoor pool, we ended up driving over to the Sugar Land gym location. In talking to another mother in the hot tub that night and communicating my issue to her, she also told me about a similar issue with her son and the basketball court where Life Time had closed half the court for a basketball camp where only two people paid for this and left the other half for the members. The side left for members was quite full and hard for the teenager to play among the adults there playing. Another example that two people paying extra (not sure how much) trumped the members paying monthly membership having to pay the price and being limited to what they can use and when without consideration of what they are paying and what effort in this economy it is taking to pay the monthly dues. In my case, my husband has been out of work for almost three years now and I am the sole income of the family, so it is an effort each month for us to pay the membership, but have decided we need this for our continued health and have made it a priority (hence all the overtime to get this paid each month falls on me). Not everyone that are members live in Riverstone and buys a car every two years. My husband drives a car that is 30 years old and I drive one that is over 10 years old, and my house when I bought it was less than $65K, so I am not rich by any means, so I'm just fighting to get what I am paying for and expect when I walk through the doors each time I go to Life Time Fitness. I used to be a member here for over four years. When I started, it was pricey, even though I had a discount from work. The gym was nice, so I paid the pricey fee. About 6 to 8 months before Covid hit, the gym experience started to decline. Broken machines, crowded frequently where you can't get a good workout. My job canceled their deal with LifeTime, so my price jumped over 30 more a month. I stuck with jt because I was in a routine and was seeing results. Then Covid hit. When the gyms opened up again, it was not the same. It seemed more like 24 hour Fitness, not a classy operation. Teens running around and not following gym etiquette. Trainers and staff members cozying up to the young cute girls and ignoring everyone else. Prices were raised after a while, and that made it well over 100 a month for a single membership to an overpriced 24 Hour Fitness . I canceled my membership. I talked to someone who still goes there and was told they raised prices again. NOT WORTH IT! read more

I love it here(: my package I have access to all the classes that they provide. The instructors are genuine and kind. My favorite classes are yoga, Pilates, and Swimming. People at the front desk are very helpful and I love the pool. Free shampoo and conditioner, clean towels, lockers you can set your own code too and the hours are great! It can be dirty for time to time but if you let someone know, they'll get to it immediately. It's a big gym, unfortunately I understand if things get missed, or if something just happens (like hair in the shower). I had to cancel my membership to this gym. I went in and filled out the paperwork at the customer service desk. I was told I would be billed one last time in July (per my original agreement). Ok, no problem. Well, I was billed in August AND September, even though I had done everything they asked me to. I called and asked to speak to someone and left a message. I did not receive a call back, so I called again. This time I encountered a VERY VERY RUDE woman named "Mo" who refused to take my information, because she said I had to come into the gym to cancel. I explained that I had already canceled my account but she was unbelievably rude for no reason. It was very strange. I eventually was able to speak to someone who knew what they were doing (after I called back on another day). She said my paperwork had been filed but never processed. She said it had happened to several people. I'm waiting for the credit back to my credit card. I hope it happens. I think the gym is beautiful but the front desk staff, specifically "MO" make the place NOT worth joining or staying with. read more

This gym has new Cybex equipment that I like, but space is limited for those who want to use the open floor areas (two of them) for sit-ups, push-ups, etc., because one of the areas has been inundated with the Pilates equipment usually found in the Pilates studio. I'm not sure if this is temporary, but it sure makes for a cramped workout area. Also, the men's restroom is limited to only two urinals. I am clueless as to why there are as very limited amount of toilets in a place where dozens of people move through it on a daily basis. All that money and you have to wait in a line, at a gym, to use the bathroom. On top of that, these were some of the nastiest I've seen in LTF gyms. read more

Price is outrageous for a regular gym. There are a lot of amenities but the average person goes for something specific. Personally i enjoy the yoga classes so the price is pretty comparable to a yoga studio so that was the deciding factor to sign up for the membership. As with all gyms, ending your contract (even when time is up) is difficult. This seems to be a common trend with ALL gyms so I was prepared to be disappointed when that time was coming. read more

After promptly informing the front desk, they assured me they would set them aside under my name. Despite this assurance, when we returned the following Wednesday, no one could locate our items. They claimed they DONATED THE ITEMS! Which is dubious as we had clearly stated our intention to pick them up.
