They canceled all stretch sessions without proper notification or good reason
Beth H.

What happens when I catch an employee lie straight to me in my face & canceled all my personal stretch sessions, claiming that person is "completely booked" & that I have to wait until Feb 2025? I just went in & rebooked with that stretch person who had plenty of openings. Watch this person who lied to me cancel them again. I'm very upset & disappointed. I need a true explanation for this action. Am I being discriminated against? I even presented the letter he requested from my doctor giving me clearance for his stretch program. I ONLY TRUST HIM. I received a call from a different manager (Krystal) claiming that the stretch therapist had an issue with me, that he was uncomfortable with me. So they canceled all my sessions prior to me meeting with Mgr (Debbie) WITHOUT prior notification by email, text or phone call. They have caused me emotional & psychological stress. They made me feel that I wasn't welcome there. I feel discriminated. Debbie lied to me about David's schedule (stretch) & then scheduled me with 2 other classes, water walk (which was canceled by them also) & Dynamic Equipment Trainer (Marissa), not Debbie who also lied about her own schedule. David didn't have the nerve to tell me to my face he didn't want me signing up with him. As a matter of fact, he walked into my original signing up meeting uninvited, eating his meal. Unprofessional again. If he wasn't available, according to her lie, then I wouldn't have been able to sign up, not once but twice. Then she lied & said he would be available after my scheduled surgery in late Jan. I specifically came to Lifetime to have his services ONLY to prepare for my surgery & maybe after, but no guarantees I would return after surgery. Nowhere in their policies do they say they can remove paid clients just because their therapist doesn't want you. This is unprofessional. Debbie was so nice in the beginning & made me trust her, then lied. I'm being professional. THEY ARE NOT!

@lifetime thank you for your response. I have contacted corporate prior to my review and have not received a call back from them or the GM. I am not sure how to go about sending a PM to your company, as I have tried and it is not working. If you are able to pm me, I can respond back.

So this place has so much to offer from a Spa and Cafe that is open to the public. To a Pool and Athletic Club. Personal Trainers. ( Lisa is my trainer) and she's great. But I take classes with Leigh in Yoga. Anna in the Water WTCX classes. They all work with my bad wrist without making me feel awkward. The food is delicious and I'm so happy to be heading towards me healthy way of life. Also if you get a service at the LifeSpa, massage, skin, nails and hair. You are allowed to use the facility all day AND use the kids club for 2 hours complimentary. So I can bring a non member friend. We can go to the pool all day with our kids. Put them in kids club and get massages and lunch!!!

Broken TV connections and missing bottle holders (who steals plastic inserts?). Gym floor cramped and almost NO social distancing. Anyway, I'm a fan of the Staff at the LA Fitness in Mount Laurel (Route 38) as they try very hard to keep the place clean and in working order. Weekends are an issue, but it's because they need more cleaning staff -- lots of places are short-staffed so it's the world we live in nowadays -- but the guys do hustle on weekends to try to keep up with stocking locker rooms with paper towels and serve the members and guests at the same time.

I was paired with an older male "trainer" whose comments, behavior, and high-pressure sales tactics were deeply unprofessional and disrespectful. What I experienced was not actual personal training. Instead, the session included manipulative and sexually harassing comments, including contradictory statements about my body and him dramatically claiming he needed to "save my life" Harmful Management Inaction What made this situation so egregious was the direct involvement and subsequent inaction of the manager, Ben. He was sitting nearby the entire time, witnessed the trainer's manipulative and harassing comments, and still chose to sit idly by. This was an incredibly unethical failure of management that actively reinforced the predatory environment. Internal Staff Concerns and Prior History The manipulative behavior was so blatant that when the trainer attempted to involve another male employee, the employee refused, even stating, "This guy does whatever he wants around here and gets away with it." I later learned from staff at a nearby LA Fitness location that multiple members at this Mount Laurel location had previously reported similar concerns. Despite these prior reports, I was still paired with him, which raises serious questions about member safety and oversight at this facility. Positive Exception I do want to note that Jared was very kind, respectful, and professional when I joined the first day, and I truly appreciated his customer service. This gym would be a safer and more welcoming place if more staff demonstrated the same professionalism and care that he does.

Today, I decided to try out the Voorhees location mainly due to the indoor track. I am training for a race and I don't like to run on treadmills or in poor weather. The "indoor track" has 2 narrow lanes for jogging and walking, yet most of the members seemed oblivious to this and I was dodging people who were not aware of their surroundings for most of the run. The track circles their cardio equipment, therefore you're just passing people staring at you run. I quickly realized the indoor track was not what I was looking for. But, I already knew I wouldn't sign up for the gym even before seeing the indoor track due to a comment the member specialist said while giving me a tour. As he is pointing out the equipment, he says "here is the incline chest press, but women don't need to use this unless they are body building." I'm sorry, sir, but as a 60 something year old man who opted to take the elevator instead of the stairs due to physical issues... how the hell do YOU know what women need? Are you a woman? Are you a trainer? Are you ME? No... that comment was unnecessary and I won't be back. Two stars because they do have top of the line equipment, as well as good amenities (sauna, pool). It was crowded, but it was also a Sunday.

As years went by, the customer service declined even at the old ownership while prices rose, and it closed during Covid in 2020 for good. About 2 years ago, in 2023, it reopened under the new name. I tried it out to see if it was better or improved, but it's not. In fact, it's worse. Now, they charge around $115-$120/month, close an hour early at only 9pm on weekdays, the customer service is so bad it would be laughable if it wasn't so unprofessional at that rate of $115/month. When I joined two years ago, front desk girl wouldn't stop flirting with me when I walked in. I had to complain about it after a month. Tried again recently to see if it improved, but no, it's even worse than two years ago, which was worse than ten years ago. There's no way I'd pay over $75/month for this place, if that, but I'd pay 150-200/month for NAC, Lifetime in Princeton, or other luxury gyms. This is an LA Fitness parading around as luxury. The location and old architecture might convince you at first, but once you've been there a few times, you'll see.
