I've been a member of Life Time Fitness in Fort Washington, PA, and I can honestly say it's one of the best gyms I've ever experienced. I had been happily attending until a series of negative events caused me to cancel my membership. It started with my nephew who had been involved in kids Academy, and wound up breaking his arm there. He reported, slipping and falling on something wet, which leads me to believe that the facilities weren't being properly monitored for cleanliness and safety around children. The following week, my son fell in his lip was busted, but the team in charge of kids academy really had no explanation as to how that happened either. Finally, in an attempt to relax recently, I chose to enjoy the steam room and hot tub on site. Both rooms had mold on the floor, and when I went to take a shower, I found that someone had detangled their hair and smeared it on the wall of the shower and that no one had bothered to clean it up. At over $200 a month for the membership you would expect that maintenance will be available and that I would not have had hair balls flying at me when I tried to get in the shower, but that is not the case. I reported this issue to the front desk and they gave me the email address to their manager. Unfortunately, I was given the wrong email address and the email bounced back. I copied the overarching Life Time email address in my communication and all I received was an automated email saying that my membership has been canceled. No acknowledgment of my experiences there. I e been a member for years and they just tried to charge my friend 50 entry with a guest pass to the outdoor pool for one hour even though I needed her help as a caregiver. I also have complained there is no private breast feeding area and there is no accommodation it's very not parent friendly in that way. The membership fees run $200 per month for a single membership. This doesn't include anything extra...just basic. The sauna does not get hot enough and is often pretty gross. The good classes are packed and not enough weights are available. Also doesn't give the friendliest vibes. The recovery machines are often out of order. For this price these shouldn't be issues. Men's sauna has not worked properly in months, and they refuse to fix it. Even when it works for a little, they choose to clean it in the middle of the day or the morning when the before work crowd is there. When members ask to fix it we get a shrug or a "it should be on" answer. read more

The "Club" is certainly beautiful and the people are mostly nice and very helpful. My biggest complaint is the outside pool. They prioritize the outside lap lanes for swim practice EVERY night, 6-8pm (swim practice is a paid event), so if you are like me with a normal job, you are SOL if you want to swim outside. We have been trying to get them to change this for 3 yrs. Even split the week and give a few days for people to use outside pool so people can plan. They say if the lanes are empty we can use them but we have been asked to EXIT the pool every time. I have left work early so many times only to not be able to swim outside.. it is so frustrating but all the complaints fall on deaf ears. They respond kindly but nothing changes. It is driving resentment between lap swimmers and the swim "team" read more

Very disappointed in this "LUXURY" gym and how they make money from people. I bought their personal trainer session. They increased my price three time without telling me. FINE. And then I found out I got pregnant so I have to suspend my membership. Then I moved so I need to canceled my account. Anyone want to drive 30 minutes to a gym but there are many gyms close to the new house?? They told me my personal training session will be forfeited. And nobody let me know the sessions have expiration date. At the beginning, they said they can refund the money. Wait until the membership canceled. Refund? Impossible! Just one day difference, they changed their decision. Is it mean they force a pregnant women to lift the weight??? Even though I have the doctor paperwork, but they don't care. Agree with all the other comments. This "luxury" gym is far from luxury. Their prices increase every single month, it's crowded, pool is crowded, kids everywhere in the summer, locker rooms are somewhat cleaned but I've been in the steam room with toe nails, rags everywhere. I actually wished that we looked at reviews before stepping through the door. We made the mistake of asking for a tour and the male behind the counter was too cool to even discuss. The female was nice and stepped in to help but there are no tours without an appt! Ridiculous. Also no literature to take home. The website sucks. Most days are great.. most of the people are really nice, but yesterday, April 30, around 1:30pm we went in for a swim. There was a bald headed man in a blue suit jacket with a plaid shirt (didn't see his name) at the desk who started barking at us to "check in here" AFTER we already checked in. He was rude, never said anything other than barking "check in here". We've been many times and have always used both scanners on desk so we were confused but we scanned in again then went for our swim. When we were done I needed to change something on our account and the same man started to walk to me but then saw it was me and turned around. Fortunately I got Dillon! Who was incredible and helpful. We pay almost $200 a month to go to this gym. We do not pay it to be barked at and treated like we are 5 yrs old.. frankly, you shouldn't even talk to 5yr olds that way. Other than this person our experiences have been wonderful. read more

The sauna, steam rooms, hot tubs and pool are broken just about every week and are never fixed quickly. Locker rooms/bathrooms are disgusting and almost unusable. When I mention it to the staff the could care less. Take your money to a different gym. I visit LT's all over the country and this is consistently the worst one. read more

I joined this gym for the Kids Academy and it's completely gone downhill after a change in management. Their previous staff really took pride in working there and you could tell they loved doing it. Now they have people there who literally don't want to work with children. I got a call from them yesterday about my 5 month old needing a diaper change and when I got there she was 100% dry and poo free. Today, they explained to me that my child had to be picked up at 12:45pm even though they supposedly close at 1pm because they need to clean. My 3 year old is not allowed in there for more than 15min at a time because she cries. I have never gone there and seen an activity being carried out with the children. There are very few kids (now I know why) and just a lot of open space with absolutely nothing going on. The GM did write me to apologize at least but the acadamy staff did absolutely nothing. I took my kids off the membership. I am a stay at home mom and have a son with special needs so going to gym is difficult as it is but they it even harder. I really wanted to love the situation but they aren't the most welcoming or the most experienced. read more

Gym has everything you need with clean equipment, respectful patrons and good locker room setups. Yoga studio space is like a spa with lots of programs. The children's activities are great - well organized and the teachers/counselors have great energy and patience for the kids. Our 5 year old has enjoyed the tumbling, art and parents nights out classes and events. I wish there were more as the weekend kids classes fill up quickly. Highly recommend especially for people with small children. read more

I've been a member of various Life Time locations over the years and I must say all the locations look identical in design and layout for the most part. What's really different is the people and staff. I must say, the Ft. Washington staff is not that friendly, there are a few that work the front desk in the evening that basically ignore you. I'm a friendly person and my experience is that Philadelphia in general, people are rude and not very nice. Also there is a lack of adherence to mask wearing which is a little disappointing. I joined to use the pool...sadly many times there are no lanes available to use or the pool is closed AND there has been no notice sent out. This just happened AGAIN and I had my 19-year-old son who has special needs with me. This could end in disaster if he can't go into the pool after preparing and getting there. Great facility. They will bleed you dry though once you are there. Also they are on a major enrollment tear. It is crowded now, you cannot get on the equipment and good luck actually finding space there unless you come at crazy off hours. Unacceptable for such a premium-priced place. I have been with them since the very beginning and since they have gone public they have been on an upward trajectory of price raises that is mind-boggling. First they took out a basketball court that used to be free and then put in Pickleball courts. As the members got addicted to pickle ball they decided to charge more money if you wanted to reserve a court. You had to go up to their signature level. A price increase, they said of $30. This level includes every upper class that neither I nor my children are going to use so basically all we were going to get out of it is Pickleball. Two days later I went to do it begrudgingly and they told me it was $60. Now two months later they are raising every old members rate another $20. They also treat their staff horribly I have heard. The sales reps are some of my favorite but nobody seems to stay very long. I'm not entirely sure what I will do as I cannot afford this any longer but a lot of the clients and staff are like family at this point. If you haven't joined yet I would try to find somewhere else. You won't have the level of amenities but you won't know what you're missing and will save a ton of money . read more

This gym used to be great!! However the kids academy is nothing what it used to be.. I had this one member from the kids academy almost embarrass me screaming in the lady's locker room for me to go grab my son because he needed a diaper change and it was "all over his clothes " when I had asked her to give me some time to change my other child. When I got there for my son , yes he indeed needed a diaper change but it wasn't as bas as she made it sound screaming in the locker room... I cancelled my membership in early 2019 after 2 previous unsuccessful attempts to do so. I was a "Founding" member & had such high hopes that this gym would be an all in one. (Please note at the time of joining I had memberships at another local gym, yoga studio & a CrossFiT gym). I think I gave Lifetime ample opportunities to show & prove but it just ever happened. The facility is state of the art, clean & in a GREAT location. It's located 5 minutes from the Turnpike & 10 minutes from Philly. There is ample parking. CLASSES: The classes were hit or miss in my opinion. Certain yoga classes depending on the instructor were very cultish. The "FLOW" class was my least favorite no matter who taught it. Ashtanga Vinyasa was probably my favorite. Warrior Sculpt, in my opinion was an advanced class that required focus & coordination Spin, another not my fav. I took all variations & couldn't get into any of them. Kettlebells, SHRED & WTRX, Upper Rx, Chisel, GluteusMAXout & CORE = GREAT Pilates (often over crowded - even when sign up on the app or online), a good workout when the space isn't restricted. Barbells = Depends on the instructor & time of day. CAFE: No bueno! Service was mediocre at best. The had prepackaged items & made to order. I was never WOW'd by anything I ate here, I often grabbed it to go after a workout & on more than one occasion my order/ food was wrong & when I emailed the facility, I NEVER received a response. They do have a good variety of grab & go snacks/ beverages, supplements & workout gear. I was very convenient to be able to pay with your membership card. LOCKER ROOM: Always clean, fresh towels, easy to use lockers, plenty of stations available for grooming. A LA Carte Services: I did both Alpha Strong & Metcon: I wasn't impressed with either. You had to pick specific days to attend. As someone who works 2 jobs this was a challenge. While participating in Metcon I reached out several times when I needed to sub out a day or time never to get a response. Staff who answer the phone didn't know if switching a date or time was an option & would just transfer to the training desk where no ne would ever answer. That being said I forfeited several sessions due to poor communication with the club. Alpha was often over crowded & I don't feel that technique or form was enforced. Pilates (Reformer): Did a trial class = AMAZING, however this was a additional charge every month that wasn't in the budget. Nutrition: I had a consult with Brittany & she was AMAZING. She made multiple provisions for my crazy schedule & was the sweetest. She was a wealth of information & provided me resources & followed up several times after our meeting to see how I was progressing or if I had implemented her suggestions. Spa: I only did nails services with my LT bucks: Although the technicians were nice the services themselves were nothing exceptional. Basic mani & pedi (Lack luster colors to choose from) no WOW factor. Overall this gym wasn't for me. I brought my concerns to the management on several occasions, filled out the surveys, talked to them in person, it all fell on deaf ears. Staff was not diverse at all. What I was paying every month I wasn't utilizing. I was never running to use my membership & that was an issue for me. The almost 2 years I was a member I never used the outdoor pool, not sure why. Mixed bag, some of the staff are outstanding and some could care less. The most disappointing aspect of the club is the seeminly endless issues regarding the plumbing. In the past four months: first the men's showers were shut down for just over a week, then the malfunctioning pool pumps kept the indoor pools closed for several weeks and this week the pool heaters are not working, plus the men's showers were shut down for several hours for cleaning. Great that they clean them, but do they have to do it during prime time? There seems to be a lot of hype as to how great this club is, but for the price they charge, they just don't live up to all the hype. read more

Very nice and clean place. But even with a membership to both pool and gym they still manage to make you feel like your NOT a member. Most summer we have been getting stopped at the pool and them telling us we didnt have a membership. When it fact its been a problem with their system for weeks. I actually had a female employee chase me after signing up, run down to the pool and grab my arm to stop me. The team member you had working at the desk on Tuesday May 28th at 9:30pm was extremely rude and ALWAYS is whenever I or anyone I bring with me interacts with her! I believe her name is Jess. She is always laying on the couch when we walk into the club to check in. When we walk past the check in desk and not check in because she isn't there to check us in, she asks us to return to the check in desk even though she was sitting on the couch watching tv. We don't have time to wait for her to come check us in at her convenience. It's her sole responsibility to be ready when members enter the club. It's extremely unprofessional. This the not the first time this has happened. In addition, when this feedback was given to her she stated "I'm leaving soon so I don't give a shit". Are you kidding me?! Who says that to a member. We ended up exiting the club at 12 at closing. Her and the closing manager demanded we leave as they were clearly upset were were using the iPad and the front desk to give feedback. This is ridiculous. I've been a member for quite some time and am there every day and never has issues during day time hours. But later at night, there is always issues. I assume it's because no one is there to manage what the employees do around that time of night. I will be cancelling my membership in the morning along with my 2 other friends and members who experienced this with me. Them or I can't stand to come to a place where the first people we interact with are extremely rude and unprofessional. This facility is really first rate in all respects. Seems like mgmt takes feedback on other Lifetime clubs and makes the next ones better. For instance, Ft Washington has 2 completely separate lap pools for adults (one inside, one outside) not just a roped-off area of the family pool that other clubs have. Lap pools are clean, open many hours and not too warm - the big three if you're joining to swim. They are constantly testing water quality. The ladies locker rooms are spotless and always well supplied. I think there are w eights and machines somewhere in the club ;-) but these can wait for winter when the outdoor pool is closed! Staff is friendly and competent. The one class I've tried - Pilates - is too tough for me, but Geoffrey makes you laugh while you're toppling over, so that helps the pain and makes you want to come back. I walked in to the gym to inquire about a tour and the person at the front desk was terse and rude when informing me he could not. I felt like I was an inconvenience for walking in. I previously went in for a tour at another Lifetime facility and was treated with basic human kindness. I was hoping to sign myself and a family member up immediately after seeing the facility, but there's no way I'm going to spend that much money a month to feel such a way interacting with staff. read more

The racism here is palpable! In the pool area Black and Brown bodies, children especially, are policed far more than other groups. Constant flags and dings for normal child behavior while white children and parents are not bothered for identical "infractions". Zero to no sensitivity or racial tolerance which could be a result of the lack of diversity and representation among member-facing staff. The new general manager is a positive addition but he is overwhelmed in a culture that is already so deeply toxic. Horrendous customer service of employees; employees, including management and the General Manager are rude, have condescending immature attitudes, the cafe food is worse than McDonald's even though they charge an arm and a leg for everything. They hey charge $10 for a smoothie and don't even fill it to the top, and they have a bunch of young immature rude punks who are barely adults working there. The pool closed down for over two weeks and there were zero concessions offered to its members. The pool chairs are gross and dirty, there are always ants crawling on the ground by the chairs, and there was a mouse in the kitchen that we saw and when we brought it to the manager's attention they did nothing about it This place is poorly managed in every area. read more

I've been a member since LT opened 4 years ago. Yes, it is expensive-- they charge a premium price for premium facilities, services and staff. I expect to pay more-- Starbucks, Whole Foods, Nordstrom--but only if I get more value. And at LT, I feel that I do. I love the facility--it's huge and clean and well stocked with everything you could need. The locker rooms are really nice, the indoor and outdoor pools are a true escape, along with the hot tubs, saunas etc. The gym has multiples of all equipment and tons of free classes. 3 Pickleball courts were recently added along with clinics and classes. The staff is friendly and experienced. Yes, they push personal training but so does every gym. You can pick and choose what you like to do and it's open practically around the clock. Lots of health insurance plans are now picking up partial or all gym fees--mine recently added LT--yay!!!! read more

Very nice athletic center. The equipment was new and very good. The treadmills weren't Woodway but close to it. There was plenty of space, all the lifting and cardio equipment that is up to date eight modern workouts. There is also a nice area to do your own boot camp workout. The yoga room is very nice and on par with nice yoga studios. Bottom line...great place for a workout. This center is new with very good equipment for someone looking to lift, do cardio or do their own boot camp. read more

There are a few activities that can get pricey but the quality of what you're getting plus the convenience of having everything under one roof is worth it.
