Lifetime Folsom is not a gym... it's a full-blown civilization. Met a friend here for a workout, and since she's not a member, we had to do the whole guest pass process first. You know... the "tap here, sign here, acknowledge that squats may humble you today" routine. But I've got to give credit where it's due -- the front desk made it ridiculously easy. They were handling a phone call and getting my friend squared away at the same time, and somehow still made it all look smooth. No chaos, no confusion, no "uhhh let me get my manager." Just straight-up professionalism. The second we walked in, she looked around and said, "Is this a city or a gym?" I said, "Honestly... both." Because Lifetime Folsom is not for the weak or the directionally challenged. This place has everything. Pool, spa, cafe, workout floors, recovery zones, pickleball, tennis, locker rooms that feel fancier than some apartments... at one point I'm pretty sure if you turn the wrong corner you accidentally enroll in a wellness retreat. And my favorite part? The confidence people have before a workout. She came out of the locker room with that movie trailer energy like, "Alright, let's do this." Looking at me like, "Bring it." And I did. I coached her through the workout, and for the first 20 minutes she was hanging in there strong. Then somewhere around that 1 hour and 30 minute mark, the spirit left the body. By the end, the look had changed from "I got this" to "I would like to formally unsubscribe." And honestly? Respect. Because the workout was solid. We laughed the whole time, had great conversation, and got after it. That's what I love about Lifetime -- whether you're going hard or just trying to survive the stair climber without seeing your ancestors, it somehow still feels fun. After we wrapped up, we grabbed our stuff and headed to the cafe because recovery was no longer optional. She needed a pick-me-up, and honestly, probably a new set of legs. We grabbed shakes, sat down, and started coming back to life. Then out of nowhere she goes, "Ummm... tacos?" And I looked at her like she had just spoken the Lord's language and said, "Yes." Then she hits me with, "I got the spot. Follow me." Now THAT is elite leadership. So basically this place gave us: a killer workout, laughs, smoothies, and the launching point for Taco Tuesday. What more do you want from a gym? A zip code? Actually... Lifetime might already have one. In all, Lifetime Folsom continues to prove it's way more than just a gym. It's an experience. It's a fitness amusement park. It's where confidence goes to get tested and where post-workout taco plans are born. And honestly... that's beautiful. read more

This club is beautiful. It has tons of classes, lots of equipment, decked out locker rooms with locks, indoor pool, outdoor pool, places to sit and work. I joined this gym specifically because of loving to play pickle ball. Their app is very helpful and let me know they had open play on a Monday morning so I showed up, but everybody was already playing and it wasn't clear how open play worked because it looked like nobody was waiting but me. So I went back into the club and asked the pro how it worked, he walked me out and asked a group of ladies if they would mind me rotating in. They told him sure. However, they joked around about who was gonna get stuck with me on their team because I was new. I had a lot of fun playing, but it was really clear that when it came time to rotate, nobody wanted me on their team. I didn't think I played that badly. I came back when I could play with my husband and loved it. Then the club had a tournament so we joined. At the beginning, I ranked in the bottom tier, which was fine because I was still new and there were others in the tier with me. During the tournament I met other really nice people who were also figuring things out like I was. However, I progressively got better and kept moving up the tournament ranks until one night I made it onto a pretty decent group of players who I hadn't yet played with. The first serve to me was a screwball serve, so I missed it. They immediately stopped the game and said I didn't belong there. All 3 players walked off the court and got the pro and told the pro that I must be in the wrong court. She assured them I was on the correct court. It was humiliating and very awkward because I was definitely not welcomed. And it was hard to put my head in the game, so I reinforced their assumptions by not playing my best. Interestingly, when that same man served to one of the others, she blamed the ball saying that there was something wrong with it and threw it away, but when I had missed, it had to be something with my abilities. Just very unfriendly. I tried another open play another time, but it was also awkward. Everybody seemed paired off, and there were no rotations or invitation to join. I kept wondering if I simply didn't know the protocols and the pros/staff were no where to be found, so no facilitating the game play. My husband went to another night's open play and he said it was super awkward because the pros/staff weren't facilitating that night either. So he stood around like I had, and not sure how to get involved since the pro/ club staff seemed MIA that night too. I think the experience would be so much better if the pros or staff facilitated open play. Players definitely have feelings about new people so a structured facilitation would be really helpful. Overall this club has so many great features but open play pickleball isn't one of them. read more

The gym have wonderful instructors. However, with the Signature Classes it is difficult to do the class as corporate has set up. There is not enough equipment and there is no reserved area for these classes and therefore people working out in the area of the Signature classes and using the equipment that is set for the class leave us without equipment.There is no equipment for the class and we spend some of the time figuring out a modified version of the exercise losing the effect of the exercises. People for some reason like to do stretch and floor work under the TRX area without using the TRX equipment. read more

Wow, this is the gym experience you want. Plenty of classes, gym equipment, indoor/outdoor pool options and towel service. They also use non-paraben organic forms of shampoo and body wash. So because I'm not a paying customer because I finally turned 65 and got a one pass gym membership included in my Medicare Advantage plan Lifetime Fitness just told me they can't accommodate me for over a year and a half that there's a waiting list because I don't want to be a paying customer. Wow wow wow but yet they were more than willing to give me the membership for $202 a month wow. I'm 65 I don't work I have retirement income that's it I finally get to enjoy a membership at a club that I think would be worth my time and I know a lot of people that would be willing to be paid members but they don't want me. Wow I've never felt so discriminated against because of my age and not wanting to pay when I finally get a free deal. I would hope to think that they would get something from the Medicare Advantage plan I was partnered with. So anyway if you're 65 plus don't go there because they don't want you. read more

Disappointed Before I Even Walked In. I called to ask some basic questions about joining, and the person I spoke with (Jordan) sounded rushed, dismissive, and frankly uninterested in helping. Every answer felt clipped, like I was bothering him by even asking. I get that people have busy days, but when someone calls to inquire about joining your gym, especially one with a premium price tag, you'd expect a little more warmth and professionalism. Instead, I hung up feeling unwelcome and unsure why I'd want to invest in a place that couldn't spare a few minutes for a respectful conversation. I hope this was just a one-off, but first impressions matter. If Lifetime wants to live up to its reputation, they should make sure their front-line staff reflects the kind of experience one would expect. read more

Really nice gym but this is a review trying to justify the $219 a month cost: As far as bang for your buck if you are a single guy looking for a date, ehh maybe you can pick someone up but there aren't abundant opportunities as there are more couples and a few older women but there are some maybe single women there. If you are a woman and you are into investing on your gold dig sure. If you don't pay HOA dues or just got a promotion to a high paying job and have nothing else to spend the extra cash on, sure. The gym was well decorated and doesn't look like a warehouse like other gyms and has pickleball courts (sure there are free ones at the park) and a non-smelly pool area (unlike 24 hour) and both outdoor and indoor pools. The pool area looks nice too. I liked the place but a year of Planet Fitness costs less than a month at this place and there are more single women there :P read more

I am a member here from 3 years. I tried registering for intro to Pilates, each time I reserve I am getting cancelled by the club. I also tried registering for other complimentary 1:1 classes which I am eligible to take. I get cancellation notices for all my registrations. I am being retaliated for my past negative feedback for the paid PT sessions I had taken. I contacted the corporate office and thus far have no resolution. They are also refusing to waive the 30 day cancellation policy and at the same time not allowing me to take classes. Would never recommend this gym. I really like this gym! It's pricey but 100% worth it. I love taking all of the classes and barbell with Betsy is one of my faves. Brien Shamp is also a pretty amazing trainer and my friends and I love taking his classes. My kids love their pool and we spend a few summer days here and just lounge around. The cafe is super convenient and I also like going to the spa. Definitely recommend and love this place. Also the kids club is great. My little girl loves it! read more

This place used to be my favorite establishment back when Steve was the GM. Now it deteriorated. The biggest disappointment is the dirty basketball courts, which I have informed them over the past 2 months at no avail. They keep smiling and saying they will take care of it and look at it, I even received a call from their facilities manager saying he was sorry and he will order a buffer of the floors, but looks the same. Mud, gum, scuffs... worse thing about it is they have poor little kids in their child care program sitting on these floors now that it's summer. This is supposed to be an elite establishment, I hope the higher up executives hear how poorly Folsom is being managed. It's so frustrating paying so much for a gym and there GTX class is in the middle of the cardio room and the music is so loud I cannot hear my own headphones! Then if you go to the limited stretch area w o tables, diff music is playing over their stereo system! Then the teacher is yelling at them over the music and it's awful. I've tried asking nicely to mgmt to take care of this! Seems like nothing has!!! So now ive resorted to kindly asking the teacher to turn it down a little. Better yet, move the damn class to a room or a corner of the upstairs that's not right in the middle of us using cardio machines! read more

Way over rated! I was a member for almost 3 years and one time my foot got hurt in one of their machines, and I could I get any help with some ice or Care. My friend had to get the ice out of her water bottle and put it in towel to help me. It was Saturday. I can't say enough about this facility. Yes, it's a big bite out of our bank account every month for our family.. but since we joined we have had such a great experience. My son is 5 and has autism.. so when we were offered a month of free swim lessons I figured we'd give it a shot. While the first couple of swim lessons were tough because my son fought it.. now that we have been going consistently every Saturday since January, it's been truly amazing to see his progress. My son's swim teacher, Kasper pushes him just enough & he's really progressed in the last few months. He's now jumping in and going under water. He doesn't fight us when we wash his hair at night anymore, and I truly see his confidence growing with every lesson. Kasper is by far our favorite. I added my husband to the membership and we go to the outdoor pool every weekend now and soak up the sun. I haven't seen the pool overcrowded yet, and the waterslides and palm trees make us feel like we are at a resort. You can also order food from the cafe and they bring it right to your lounge chair. I have done some yoga classes there, and I find the instructors truly outstanding. I enjoy working out there, and never have a problem getting access to a machine when I need it. The facility is very clean. We also participate in Parent's Night Out as well as the summer camp.. and Spencer and her team has been so attentive to our son. Spencer's communication is very thorough, and I love that I have a place to take my son in between school breaks. I also have met many other parents there at Lifetime and it's really helping us build a support network here. We moved here last year, and knew no one. My husband and I are constantly impressed with the staff and how friendly they all are. I feel like Lifetime has been a godsend to us, and it will always be a part of our lives. I rarely write reviews, in fact this might be my first or second one ever. Unfortunately I feel the need to leave a review for Lifetime in hopes that it may possibly contribute even in the slightest to improvements in their operations. My wife and I have been members since 2021. We have been seeing rate increases these last few years and they are only becoming more frequent, and when I inquired about it, they provide a vague answer. Secondly, my wife gave birth to our son, so she was unable to attend for some time. So I asked to freeze her account. The employee assured me her account is frozen and to reach back out when we would like to unfreeze. Next billing cycle we were still charged for her as a member, so I explained that her membership should've been frozen. They stated it wasn't, and that she would need proof of a medical necessity. So we provided proof of that, and yet still it was not frozen after the next billing cycle. So I stopped being nice about it, and spoke to the manager after freezing her membership. It finally got done then. Now they've been lately harassing us, from approaching us at the pool to tell us outside food isn't allowed (we bring snacks and drinks for our 2 year old), to all of a sudden requiring my newborn son to be put on a guest pass. Mind you, between my wife and I we have hardly even used our memberships and don't utilize any of the amenities except for some cardio equipment, weights, sauna/steam room, and shower. I also try and take care of the place, for example I put other peoples used towels into the laundry bins and will pick up trash when it's within my path, I wipe down equipment after using it, I'll remove the wet towels people place over the sauna/steamroom thermostat. Just normal courteous things. I was okay with the cost of membership because the environment was welcoming, clean, not overcrowded, and no shady business. All of that has changed unfortunately. I hope the company takes notice of their customers feedback, otherwise the company's financial deficit will not improve and be forced to file chapter 7 bankruptcy in the near future. read more

I just had my onboarding session with Rachel! She was awesome. I've been in the fitness industry for years and she was not only friendly and knowledgeable but also fun to work with. She did not pressure sell me, or make me feel like she was only helping because she wanted me to buy something from her. She went through the session with ease and actually pinpointed a compensation I had been struggling with since a minor injury. I enjoyed my time with her and my body actually feels good. If I'm being honest, I've only trained with male trainers in the past because I find they push me harder and challenge my strength. This was the first time I actually felt like a female trainer could help me achieve my strength goals. The gym and personnel are always clean cut and friendly. read more

We are members and signed up because their Kids Academy is amazing! We have 3 kids 2, 7, and 10 and they all love the kid activities. It's also so wonderful they offer event Saturdays for parents night out (and it's free). Most of the staffs in Kids Academy are super nice and take the time to know you and your children. We love Katie, Zander, Olivia, Iris, Johana and a bunch of staffs who always greet us with a smile! Folsom LT is a garden variety. My husband loves swimming and our son is enrolled in their swim program. So that's their normal go to-the Pool area. And for myself I happily head to the group classes! Wonderful REALLY passionate instructors here like Betsy, Alex, Amanda, Karen, Nikki/Jacob/Brien/Javi-For GTX! My only feedback would be to request more group classes preferably 12pm-3pm currently there's are few to none. Roseville location offers noon classes but not here at Folsom The gym facility is fairly clean. I mean, with the amount of guests it's impossible to keep it pristine. I read some negative reviews commenting that it's overly crowded but honestly even the busiest hours 5Pm-7pm there always been plenty of machines readily available. Also the Cafe staffs are so nice and remembers my tea preferences too! Claire, Jordan, James, Eric, Cody, and a bunch more! All really nice people makes you feel like family. Front desk staffs too have always gone out of their way to help us. Special thanks to Kyle, and Elijah. One day it was pouring rain and wind storm. I had the toddler in my arms catching my breath (try to manage an excited toddler) and reaching for my phone to get scanned in. Before I handed him the phone Kyle looked at me and smiled, told me not to worry he's already manually checked me into the system. So so kind, it's the small things that speak mounds :). It sounds pricey at first but if you factor everything included for the children and kids classes (adult/kids) honestly- it's worth every penny! Lowering my expectations. LifeTime USED to be a great place to go and workout with friends. But their new guest policy is absolutely RIDICULOUS .Switching from brining a guest from twice a month to once every two months really just ruffles my feathers. They USED to always welcome guests and those who didn't have a membership. it USED to be a place for everyone. I would go with my friends who would have a membership to check out the gym. But now i CANT do that. My children loved going to kids club and had the best experiences there until they got rid of their favorite teacher. Miss Ceecee was always so kind and supportive of my children and I kept my children in kids club specifically for her classes. I know she was let go because I specifically asked about her at the front. I was close to cancelling my membership so many times for very unfortunate reasons, but stayed because of how much my kids enjoyed seeing her and going to her gymnastics class. If it wasn't for her influence on my kids, I would have been gone a long time ago. I look forward to cancelling my membership with Lifetime. What a disappointment. read more

They very rarely say welcome in or say goodbye, and most times when I smile walking in to greet them, they give me a blank stare. Very dissapointed in how this place is run. My mother and I have signed paperwork mutliple times for my daughter to go into the gym with my mom (grandma). My mother packed up my brothers and my daughter to go to the gym today, while I am on vacation, and my family got turned away again. My mom was told the paperwork expired 3 months ago! That was the first paperwork they had us sign originally, and it was the wrong form. We had to come back in again and sign the correct form a couple weeks later because the gym had given us the wrong forms originally. The gym staff lost updated paperwork that my mom and I both signed to bring my daughter in. Now my mother and child gets turned away again over the original incorrect paperwork and couldnt find the second form we signed. Very disappointed in the management and inconsistencies of this gym. This is a beautiful newer club with amazing work out facilities, Cafe, classes and kids activities. But, if you are an avid tennis player, this facility is not for you. It's really for families and fitness, rather than competitive tennis. What's wrong with the courts? 1) The courts are way too close to each other. Joined Lifetime so I could bring my kids and also have some time to myself "on the weekends." The cost for a family is high, but it seemed worth it because of the kids classes. Now Lifetime has cut the hours on weekends for the kids club to only be open until 2:00 on weekends! Seriously? I called and was told well there aren't enough kids so classes will end at 2:00. Well NO KIDDING if you don't offer classes of course you will have less kids! Parents need a break on weekends, if anything you should offer more classes until at least 4:00. I hope management changes this because in my mind and other parents I have spoken too this is NOT acceptable and very disappointing. Is this the start of cuts throughout this gym? I have been a member of lifetime for well over 7 years and over the years this place has slowly gone downhill, with regards to cleanliness but especially customer service. I guess that's what happens when GM turnover rate is as high as it is here (not to mention how young and inexperienced the current GM is). I take all the classes, especially the spin class and most recently the warrior. Unfortunately for me I was the unlucky individual that was in the encountered an unhinged unprofessional employee that verbally attacked me in front of all my friends and community members, during a warrior class. I didn't know that LT employees can not only yell at paid members but also get away with it, and to subsequently be forced to take their class, is insane but a reality at this establishment that prides itself on being "customer service focused." I signed up for a warrior class and registered for a spot in the front row. When I showed up and set up in my registered spot, I was told to move down a spot as it was Chiara's (LT employee) friends' spot that she had saved. I guess I didn't know we were saving registered spots for our friends just because we work here but clearly that was the case here. I proceeded to let her know I registered for this spot and that if her friend wanted to show up to yoga she can take the spot she wanted to force me to move down too. After multiple attempts of telling me to move and at this point beginning to yell at me and threaten to kick me out, I asked my friend if she's an employee here and especially a yoga instructor as she was showing zero level of professionalism in how she was conducting herself. By this point she's still yelling at me in front of all my peers and friends telling me to stop talking with hand gestures and all, and threatening to kick me out because she thought I was talking back to her, when all I was doing was letting her know I registered for the spot. When her friend showed up, she showed me her phone which confirmed what I thought, that she was next to me in spot 4, I was registered for spot 3. Being incredibly overwhelmed and not in the least bit in a state of wanting to continue to be in this toxic situation, I got up and left, completely mortified and bewildered why an employee just yelled at me and even more so why saving a spot made her get unhinged. I didn't want to say anything, like most members but my friends were appalled, being witnesses to the situation and encouraged me to say something, so I went to the manager on duty to discuss what happened. He was alarmed Chiara was even there because she never registered and therefore shouldn't have even been in that class. The unfortunate reality is, they hired an incredibly unprofessional person who in this situation was also being incredibly entitled and thought she could move everyone down the line, because she works there. Who knows how many people he she berated before me. The entire situation was incredibly unprofessional for any employee, and especially one in a "high end" establishment that's charging guests the insane prices we pay. I spoke to the GM, Joe who was not sympathetic but tried to reassure me that she has high numbers so (basically my issues are mine and mine alone). Her boss Ginger who took a month to reluctantly follow up with me - when doing so, brushed off my insane experience as silly and that they're working on her. That I should still take the class, even though I hadn't in over ONE month because she "wont do that again" disregarding feeling unsafe with an employee who clearly has major anger issues. She express that the verbal attack happened because Chiara is young and isn't like the older trainers (who in my opinion are professional, caring and there for the right reasons not clout chasing). But because her numbers are high they're going to keep an eye on her. Not only did her boss show little empathy and regard for my situation, but followed up my concern with a simple statement about how the industry is hurting and she's young (so instead of hiring the right talent they're working on her). Basically replace empathy and insert boiler plate lip service, is all I got from Ginger. I received no apology from Chiara and to be fair the class didn't receive an apology either and deserved one. Based on my experience and the countless stories I've heard from other members and dear friends, Life Time is building a reputation of not delivering on members' concerns and I realized for myself that this is in fact true. I mentioned to Ginger that I will be following up with their Corporate office so they are aware, to which she said "they wont do anything, but that they will route issues back to us." I guess that's where the disconnection lies. No one is really following up at a corporate level or at a gym level, so this customer facing business isn't really customer facing to create a better environment for all of their paying clients, we are just another dollar sign to them. read more

Lifetime Folsom is a very overcrowded gym. There are WAY too many members and not enough equipment. I've shown up to the gym many times, walked around the weight room and just left. Also, gym etiquette at this location might be the worst I've ever experienced at any gym. You have people just sitting on equipment, working out inches in front of the DB racks, holding equipment while gone working out on other equipment, they're all here and the list goes on. Lifetime Folsom's free weight section needs to be double the size for the amount of people it packs in. read more

Lifetime fitness will lock you into a membership and not refund you for any reason. They aren't following the COVID protocols and when asked to get out if membership and be refunded due to my concerns over safety I was meet with a very unhelpful aggressive manager Hanni Johnson. I have never encountered such horrible business practices. I would not recommend coming to this gym, your money is better spent at a local facility. Trust me. HIGHLY UNRECOMMENDED! Responding to lifetime: I want a refund and my membership canceled, that would bring me back as a customer after the gym was fully open with the saunas back not wearing a mask while working out. If i felt that lifetime was trying to take care of ME as the customer not themselves as in not offering a refund and cancelation due to and email saying I was going to be recharged after being told they weren't changing on the phone. This place is simply stunning. Staying at the pool and putzing around the super nice pool area in general, why would anyone ever even desire to hit up a resort pool? This one is better-- and one can play connect 4, Pee wee Herman style out there. I must have counted 4 separate pools? Hot tub-- some sort of eucalyptus sauna.. Two separate juice and health bars for hanging out at the country club esque gym all the day long!! JR Watkins shower products and disposable razors with sensitive skin shower gel. Amazing!! I'm a fan of how sliding one's gym card behind the locker in the bathrooms open and close it. I've been a member for years. Used to work here at the Folsom location. I would consider myself an avid "gym rat". Suck to say but past 4 months in the gym really have changed things. It is not the same lifetime as it used to be. Hundreds of more people in the gym daily... I always have trouble finding an open machine I am trying to use now. Even with how much room the gym has, it is ridiculous these days. AND THE PRICE IS SUPER SUPER HIGH. Better choices in town then this no member cap - monopolized gym. read more

This place is nice, but I do not appreciate that they made my niece do a "test swim" just to ride the slide. How do you expect an 8 year old to swim an Olympic lap as a TEST SWIM FOR THE SLIDE. Apparently it is a "state law" but no one else had to do that. The lifeguard literally endangered her life unnecessarily just to ride the slide. I am upset, I am appalled. I understand that it is a safety thing but the fact that she was singled out amongst all the children is discriminatory. It was condescending and we are paying customers and it is not cheap. At least their pina colada was good read more
