A total nightmare. Dirty, water leakage... the worst! I had to move out after only 2 weeks because all my possessions got rained on.

Worst storage facility company I have ever dealt with. I moved into one of their facilities a year ago and had issues; to make it worse there was no manager on site because they were off-site to assist another property. Fast forward to this year I moved and only chose the location I did because it is steps away from where I live. I made the mistake of convenience over quality that is for sure. I stopped in two days prior to confirm my reservation and was told it was in the system and ok. The day of the move in I show up and there is nobody in the office and I did not receive my gate code. I call and it turns out I was not fully "moved in" and there is no actual manager at this location and there has not been for three years. It takes me another 30 minutes to complete another reservation over the phone and get into the unit after being told I can wait until 1 when the temp manger gets there (this is 10 am). Once would have been maybe a one off problem but twice is a systematic problem. They are clearly trying to cut costs by keeping their staffing levels at a razor thin low mark. This company is terrible and if you can I would not do business with them. read more

I store my stuff at the Mathis Ferry location but I had to deal with this location because I rented the moving van from them. The manager there was very nice from the start. I got a free van rental with my storage unit rental. I had some issues with the other location, but the manager at this location made me feel a lot better about it. She said she would talk to the manager at Mathis Ferry for me, and they called me soon after. Also, she gave me a huge discount on the mileage for driving the van around since I was having trouble at the Mathis Ferry location. Overall, I'm very satisfied with my experience at this location of Life Storage. read more

Called to rent a truck at this location 5 minutes from my home. Got a confirmation and time for pick up. Less than 24 hours before pickup, the text from U Haul came saying my pick up was in another town at least a half hour away. Not acceptable. read more

Nate and team are friendly and pleasant to work with. They accept boxes (even 20+ boxes sometimes) for me during the week while I'm out of town and it is appreciated. The cost is a bit higher than I'd prefer but it is close and convenient. I recommend. read more

Mine and my husband's experience with Uncle Bob was horrible. We rented the unit for over 2 and half years. During that time our unit was exposed to mold, from what looked to be poor infrastructure as the mold came from the back of the unit not the door area. We told the manager and was told to file a claim with insurance company. We did so and was denied because the only thing covered by the ridiculous insurance is theft. When we moved out, many items had to be thrown away as they were covered in mold. Never once were we offered another storage unit, in fact we weren't offered any type of resolution. Instead we were force to pay for a moldy unit and damaged personal belongings. We will never recommend this company. read more

I went to my storage unit on a Sunday only to find that my lock had been cut off and a totally new door/lock had been installed (I pay on- time). I called the office and left a message, obviously upset and by Wednesday still hadn't received a call back. I called the office and was routed to their corporate office who had never heard of such a thing happening. I finally spoke to the Manager, who told me that I had been sent a certified letter informing me that the doors were all being replaced. I never received such letter and I would have opted to be present when the work was done. After not even receiving an apology I got a call from the Area Manager, who credited me $100 for my inconvenience. This was acceptable until I went to my storage unit to get my new keys and found that the person who did the work decided to throw all of the boxes I had nicely stacked near the door on top of my other things. It was a total disaster inside and the heavy boxes and bins crushed the ones below. It looked like a baggage handler at the airport tossed all of my possessions. I was really upset, needless to say, that they would allow such carelessness with their tenants things. I was told there was a video of the contractor doing the work and it would be reviewed. After this I was referred to the insurance company that handles the claims for this contractor and told I wasn't allowed to see the video footage if there was any. I have to go through the mess and file a claim for anything damaged. Bottom line is Life Storage does not care about your items. For them to allow a contractor to have access your stuff and not even supervise them is totally unacceptable. I have never heard of storage companies allowing this to happen. If they didn't receive my acknowledgment of the certified letter they should have called me! Also, after about 4 months they will raise your rent due to a "market" increase. There are better more professional storage companies out there! read more

After packing and wrapping the entire contents of my town home in Mt Pleasant and paid for climate control storage for almost 4 years to the date I was horrified at the condition of my furniture, electronics and household possessions. Apparently during this period of time another renter illegally stored a lot of dog food in their unit. When this renter moved out there was a discovery of a rat infestation. Uncle Bobs did treat for rats at that time. Never did they during the years we faithfully paid for this climate control unit were we apprised of a situation. When we opened our unit there was a stench coming from inside. Two dead and decayed rats lay in front of my wrapped mattress. On further investigation as we removed furniture and boxes there were more dead rodents decayed, dead flys and roaches attracted by the decaying carcasses. There was rodent feces, rat nests, chewed wood furniture and urine stains and droppings both from rats as well as the roaches and flys under the professionally wrapped sofas, chairs, mattresses and box springs. The only assistance the Uncle Bob manager offered was to leave the items affected by the infestation by their dumpsters. We were told to file a claim with insurance. Beware, there is a rodent exclusion on the policy. After almost $10,000 faithfully paying for storage and even purchasing all our boxes and clean packing paper to Uncle Bobs we also lost over $18,000 in furniture and belongings. Upon asking uncle Bobs for restitution for atleast the rent we paid them for 4 years we received nothing. Uncle Bobs manager should have contacted us as well as all the renters immediately upon discovering a rodent issue and perhaps we could have salvaged something in our unit. They never took any professional responsibility to the situation. I. In good faith stored my entire home for 4 years, I faithfully paid my rent for climate control. I was never alerted there was an issue and they never tried to make good on any part of my loss. I am heartbroken and dismayed not to mention my pockets being emptied by Uncle Bobs Storage read more
