That's a blatant disregard of the patients time. I have had 7 doc appts in the last 1.5 years and maybe I have been extra lucky but this is the first time I encounter this DMV like service. Honestly, this place was the worst. Don't schedule me for a morning appt if the doc won't even arrive on time.

And rather than a focus centered on the comfort, ease and experience of the patient, the process seemed centered on Baptist, its finances, and its individual work flows/people. My first encounter was a call a week before the test from someone making sure that I knew that I would be charged $2000 (turned to be $2600). I received three texts in the past week - two asking me to pre-register for the procedure, one two days ago reminding me of the appointment. On arrival I was asked for lab results. Turns out that the test required contrast to be injected into my vein. I suspect that most people don't carry their most recent lab results around with them. The garage in the building has spaces for the Baptist center. We weren't told about that in advance. Turns out that Baptist will pay for the parking in the garage, but not on the street in front of the building. In fact, there is nothing posted anywhere that would let you know that. And the receptionist made no mention of it. A patient there let us know - I asked the receptionist and she entered the ticket in the computer. In the MRI room I was laid down, moved into the machine and within seconds and without warning the machine started. No voice letting me know. 20 minutes later the table moved out, I was given the iv and moved back in. Same process. A little talking might help allay fears of this process - people are scared of going into long, narrow tubes. In fact, on the questionnaire I filled out at the reception I answered test to claustrophobia. Never once was I asked about this or was anything expressed. Not sure why bothering asking. The end of the process was pretty impersonal. We're done now, you can leave. No reminder to get your possessions. Nothing. I tried Baptist because it's 5 minutes rather than Mt. Sinai which is 45 minutes away. I don't make these comments to point out the staff. They were all nice. They were all competent. They are a product of their environment and organization. They reflect the ideals of the organization that has trained and maintained them. Those ideals are not centered around me, the patient. I make these comments to point out how the system has not made me, the patient, going through a scary experience, more comfortable. A single seamless process that started by a design team from Baptist walking through a patient's whole experience would be an eye-opening start to designing a good patient experience that I would spread to friends. That doesn't appear to have happened.

I was chastised for having "bad veins" rather than being treated with professionalism or care. I have photographic proof of the excessive needle marks I endured during this visit. When I escalated my concerns, I spoke directly with the CEO, Robert Diaz. Instead of addressing the clear lack of training and miscommunication from his staff, he was entirely unhelpful. Rather than accepting responsibility, he treated me as if I were at fault and made me feel like I was the problem for questioning their billing practices and poor care. This facility not only engages in misleading billing practices but also fails to provide compassionate, professional medical care. Patients deserve honesty, respect, and competent treatment--none of which I received here. I strongly recommend avoiding Advanced Health Imaging. Thermography can detect a problem years before mammography can, WITH NO RADIATION. In other words, without contributing to the problem it is supposedly trying to fix. I visited Jennifer in her office on Giralda in Coral Gables. The whole process was relaxed, comfortable, and private. As another reviewer pointed out: no touching. I had a full body thermography. A few days later I received a 10-page report with all the images and clinical assessments for my whole body. It confirmed that I had absolutely no inflammation in the chest area. It did identify OTHER inflammation problem areas which I later confirmed in separate medical visits. In other words, in a single visit, I not only ruled out breast cancer but also got a picture of my overall health. It was eye opening. Here is a sample: Paranasal sinuses: No significant thermal findings at the region of the paranasal sinuses. Temporomandibular joints (TMJ): No significant thermal findings at the region of the TMJs. Thyroid gland: Hyperthermia at the region of the thyroid should be correlated with thyroid dysfunction. Evaluation of a panel of thyroid lab tests and an ultrasound of the thyroid is advised. Carotid arteries: Hyperthermia at the region if the left carotid artery should be correlated with dysfunction at the left carotid artery. Evaluation of a CRP is advised to rule out systemic inflammation and a Doppler ultrasound to rule out carotid artery stenosis. Neck: Hyperthermia at the posterior and lateral muscles of the neck correlates with myofascial inflammation. Jennifer herself was very professional as well as friendly, personable, interesting, and well informed. I have not stopped recommending her to friends and even to some of my doctors, who requested materials to hand out to their patients. Having thermography instead of mammography is a no-brainer in my view. If the thermography detects something significant in the chest area, then you can decide whether to get a mammography for greater detail. But it makes sense not to subject yourself to radiation needlessly.

This makes me question the purpose of making an appointment and feels unfair to those of us who make the effort to arrive on time and respect your clinic's schedule. I believe patients' time should be respected just as much as and staff's time. If there are going to be significant delays or if walk-in patients are routinely going to be seen before scheduled appointments, patients should be informed ahead of time. I hope the office will review its scheduling procedures and find a way to better respect appointment times and improve communication with patients.
