Another great course through St John Ambulance…read more This time it was Transportation Endorsement taught by Bernie. You may recognize him from the Level 1 video. Bernie was an excellent instructor, and the class was all hands on, no videos, with lots of practices before the final timed exercise. I recommend the Transportation Endorsement course even if you don't need it for your job. They have taken a lot out of Level 1 and put it in TE. This course teaches more advanced life saving techniques, and you learn new skills, such as how to insert an oral airway, and how to use an oxygen tank. I was also very impressed with their pricing for their first aid supplies. Years ago I bought a sheet style pocket mask from them for $12. They are now only $1.50. $1.50! For a very important piece of personal protective equipment. Everyone should carry one of these. They also have small kits that include a the mask, gloves, bandaids and gauze for only $3. Very useful. Apparently they have a new supplier. I hope the change in prices have led to more people carrying first aid equipment. you can buy the full Level 1/2/3 kits, too. Make sure you have one in your car. You never know when you could need it. Park in the underground lot, which you access at the far end of the ground level parking. Pick any numbered, un-reserved spot. It's free!

I would never have spent money on a provider that employers do not recognize; I specifically spent more money and an additional day of my time to increase my chances of getting hired, and now I have to repay a whole new certification as this is not even recognized as the most basic one; it is a worthless piece of paper in terms of employment. I learn better in-person so I signed up for the 1-day course that ran from 8:30am - 5:00pm. We covered a LOT of material and the instructor went really fast! I'm a native English speaker and I thought, wow, this is hard for me to keep up so I can only imagine how this would be for a learner where English was not their first language. Just warning you! I bet it's because the instructor had a LOT of content to cover so I guess I don't blame them. The class is mostly lecture style with a few hands-on components. For example, for the CPR part, we worked with a partner and practiced on a dummy. At the end, you have to take a written quiz. If you pass, you are handed a certificate and you can take it home the same day! I think it's a convenient location too because it's about a 10 minute walk away from the sky train station. So, lots of things to consider. I would recommend it if you need a certificate in a short amount of time. Overall the whole process was super quick!

Classes are offered at this location as well, since they have a big classroom area. I have their home & vehicle kit and compact first aid kit. They are very competitive in pricing for both their kits and their classes. They are Red Cross certified and that quality shows. They are quite diverse in the classes and kits they offer. They also offer customized kits with customized logos. Staff is professional and knowledgeable. I was always able to have my questions answered and followed up on. If an issue arose, one of the staff is always quick to address the issue and resolve it to my satisfaction. I can't say enough good things.
