As second-time visitors, we were incredibly shocked to hear the pastor, from the "pulpit," literally chide and shame the congregants who were not wearing face masks, calling them words like 'immature' and 'childish.' It is certainly no one's business why someone else without a face mask on is that way-- their medical condition, religion, whatever-- so to have a pastor treat people that way was very sad. These examples clearly aren't the type of leadership and church atmosphere the Bible calls for!

The church is big with the main hall fitting about 350 people. Journey Church is a Christian non-denominational church with 3 locations. The first location is in Fairview Park. I enjoyed visiting the Avon location for church. I was greeted upon entering, then I went to the complimentary tea/coffee station and poured myself a cup of tea, then I went into the sanctuary to find a seat. The 12:30pm service that I attended was a great experience. Pastor Phil spoke with enthusiasm and gave Biblical examples. The praise and worship team played lively music. If you're looking for a church, you should visit Journey Church in Avon. Came here for a worship/dance recital. It's a predominantly a black member church (I was the only…read moreIndian woman there) not that that is a bad thing but it made me feel like I stood out. The service was enlightening and engaging but the way they do their tithes and offerings made me feel absolutely pushed. I don't usually give much when I visit other churches and by being pushed to give "as much as I can" and having to go up to the baskets instead of pew collecting made it feel it was more "bullying" than anything so I didn't give anything. The dances that they do are predominantly African and urban. I enjoyed that. It was an entertaining, intriguing and interesting experience but I don't think I'll be back til they get more diverse Also the ladies room has massive toilet seats, being a vertically challenged woman (a little adult person) I had to jump to use it.
