Sculpture of a beggar by Timothy Schmaltz

200 year old Presbyterian Church from 1820. The Victorian Romanesque church seats 600 and has Tiffany Windows. The bell called mourners to church when President Lincoln's funeral drove through the Square. There is an art gallery inside and tours are provided.

Magical and marvelous Sanctuary!

Almost 200 years in Cleveland as an Iconic and Historical place of Worship! I cannot describe how magnificent this stone structure and artistic glass of Tiffany and LaFarge grace this space. Who in Cleveland does not know this place...how many of you have entered it's walls of history that have survived multiple fires? Walking by yesterday, I was struck in my heart and drawn to the doors. I pulled it and it was locked, but quickly released and security invited my Mother and I inside. Ashley stopped what she was doing to deliver an impromptu history lesson from the Art Gallery at the entrance with selected pieces flown in from Venice to the humble entry which beckoned you to enter. The ornate baptismal space was the first our eyes gazed upon. Shadowed by a slim but beautifully and tastefully decorated Christmas Tree. The Lincoln pew (the 1st one) is the only original pew restored from 1820! Gracing the front of the church is the wood carved Altar with layers of detail and the rows of over 3,000 brass pipes which allow the Organ (the first in Cleveland) to radiate the gracious space and ring out Public Square with Angels voices. I will try to be brief, but I cannot stop until I share the stained glass windows which are illuminated with high tech LED lights. But don't let that fool you, Tiffany glass of tremendous detail graces several windows (circa 1885) and John LaFarge (circa 1885) who studied under Tiffany...competed for the most intricate displays. Vernon Stouffer (yes, Stouffer Foods) was a member and has a custom stained glass as well. The only one in existence that displays Cleveland Landmarks. He had ownership in a lot of space so why not have the Browns stadium and other downtown buildings etched into a landmark Church. Lastly, the ceiling mirrors that of the belly of a boat...why, because laborers who built ships were brought in to specifically tailor the height and shape in this manner. Okay, enough...make time to visit this church and honor it's regal nature and spirit! Will make plans to visit a service soon!

Active during the gilded age when the millionaires were making a presence on Euclid Avenue, the present church was dedicated in 1854 after two fires. There are several Tiffany windows. The organ was the first in the city. A service is performed every Sunday morning. Tours are often given, and it is the meeting place for the Civic Historical walking tour on Tuesdays at 6 p.m.

This historic piece of Cleveland Public Square played their church bells on Christmas Eve to the joy of holiday visitors experiencing the Christmas lights downtown. As out of town visitors, we considered joining in on the Christmas Eve Mass but were dissuaded by the presence of security guards at the entrance and waiting until the next mass of multiple that evening to begin. I would love to get an inside look at this historic building.

The building is beautiful, but the leadership needs improvement. They do not follow the teachings of God.

I felt God was telling me to just attend. I'm glad that I visited because the sermon message today really was something I needed to hear. The Pastor was in the last day of a series titled "The Strategy of Satan" (read Ephesians 6:10-18). He preached about how in this life, we are engaged in an invisible war. When trials and temptations come your way, be ready to put on the whole armour of God (metaphorically speaking) and fight the devil. The pastor gave real life examples as he preached so the whole message was easy to understand. As the pastor preached, there were notes to follow along on a bulletin. I liked that inside the bulletin, there was a memory verse and next steps on how to get involved with the church. I enjoyed the praise and worship time, prayer, and the little meet and greet session. Everyone I encountered was very friendly snd welcoming. I especially love that the church is diverse - filled with different races with men, women, and children. I've been visiting a few churches these past few weeks and I know where I will end up but I'm still glad that I visited LNLC. **** This is my 110th Yelp review overall. 64 reviews for 2018. I am aiming for 100 reviews in 2018.

I attended a Sunday service on the last Sunday of April (2 weeks before Mother's Day). A former co-worker had invited me so I decided to attend. The church is a small Christian church but a great benefit of that is it is easier to meet people and get connected. Members consist mostly of Case Western University students but there is also a good mix of non-students such as young adults, middle-aged, and a few Senior citizens. I would say average age is 30. If you have kids, there is a kids ministry as well. The service includes worship music, a sermon (message from the Pastor), and prayer time. Although I attend another church, I'm excited to attend this church's "dinner party" soon. Their dinner parties are held across the city in several of some church member's homes. It isn't a bible study but just a fun way to hang out with friends and have dinner. Since my former co-workers hosts one of those dinner parties, I will be attending at some point later this summer. If you're a student or live in the University Circle area then I recommend this church for the intimacy (small size) and awesome teaching of God's word. **** This is my 111th Yelp review overall. 65 reviews for 2018. Proceeding into the lobby some of the ladies there noticed I was knew and went out of their way to greet me and even offered to sit next to me. How sweet and thoughtful! As soon as we walked into the main auditorium you could just feel the Holy Spirit and the genuine care/compassion the pastor and its members had. The worship experience was incredible and I was moved to tears. After worship some of the leaders came on stage to talk about upcoming outreach events/opportunities and WOW! This church's heart for the community was beyond words. You could feel Jesus' love in their mission. This church embodies loving your neighbor as yourself. The sermon preached had so many relatable notes and was all backed up and explained through scripture. I only wish I lived in Cleveland so I could go every weekend. If you're looking for a church, look no further! The TRUE word is brought and the community could not be any kinder or carry the heart of Jesus any better. I am thankful God put this church in my path.

I had a great experience so I wouldn't mind visiting again but I already currently go to another church. I believe we arrived for a 11am or 11:30am service. As we walked in, plenty of church volunteers or staff members greeted us. There were greeters in the sanctuary as well guiding people to seats. Everyone is very friendly and welcoming. CHURCH TIME -- Praise and worship had already begun when we entered. It lasted for approximately 25-30 mins and it was a fun time. The music was upbeat and a choir sang along too. After workship time, the head pastor delivered a message. Since I am writing this message in June 2024, I can't remember what the message was about but I remember him mentioning some points about using discernment when finding a potential partner (husband or wife). He was enthusiastic and stern in his message. There were lots of laughing in church and everyone, including myself, was happy while in church. Service ended with a prayer and then we were all dismissed. After service, my new acquaintance, Abby, who attends this church, showed us around the building. There is a meeting or activity room upstairs and downstairs, in the main lobby, there is a small bookstore. If you are looking to join a new church (membership) or just visit then stop on by to the Word Church to see if it's for you. You will leave having learned something. I had a great time. **** GOAL of 150 reviews in 2024 - 45/150 total reviews in 2024 - 695 total overall Yelp reviews - Reviewed on 25 June 2024

This church is located in Berea in a small shopping complex. My friend Gabby and I arrived for the 11:45am service which was a late service but I didn't get ready in time for the earlier services. There are 2 other services on Sundays are 8:45am and 10:15am. CHURCH SERVICE -- Service started with praise and worship time which is common to most churches. That lasted for about 30 minutes. Then the pastor delivered the message which was about sharing the Christian faith to others. I loved how the message had a question and answer session. So everyone got a piece of paper to answer certain questions pertaining to the pastor's message. Answering those questions for me really allowed me to delve deeper into my own personal faith. Renew is a non-denominational Christian Church filled with young people, families, and couples. The church isn't as diverse as I would have liked because the majority of people who attend are caucasian (white) but everyone I met was nice. I loved that they have a tea section inside so I grabbed a cup of tea before entering the sanctuary. You would be absolutely correct...and part of that involved my attending a Catholic high school! and yes...I was on the field hockey team. So, when I went to the Polish Festival to hang with some of my fellow countrymen and nosh down some pierogies, I was encouraged to go look at the church by the friendly Franciscan monks. Not that I needed much prodding to do so...I had brought along my good SLR just for that occasion. As my mom can well attest to, I am drawn to older churches, having dragged her into almost every single one we passed during our trip through Belgium and France. Since it was a little later in the evening, the church was quiet and I was able to spend almost an hour inside taking pictures with little distraction. It was decorated beautifully for the Polish festival and the lighting inside was perfect for dramatic shooting....the stained glass must be something to behold in the early morning hours and I hope to get out there again prior to sunrise. I was also fortunate enough to catch some nice stories of the church by the gentleman doing small tours and learned some excellent history about when then Cardinal Karol Wojtyla came to visit in 1969. They also hold frequent concerts with full orchestras....check out their website for updates.
