This is a review for our visit on 26 October 2013.
Our first choice Maggie's was closed (they were on holiday that week), so we chose this one instead and we weren't sorry at all.
They only had a large table outside and three small ones inside, so the wait can be long at peak times. We found the portion of fish & chips very large, so we shared a large Cod & Chips. Only one waitress was serving and a group of 8 was at the outside table, so she apologised for keeping us waiting, which we didn't mind. Fish was fried to order, so it was worth waiting. When it arrived, it was the largest portion we'd seen and fried to perfection and Cod was very fresh. Chips were crispy outside and fluffy inside, and weren't greasy at all. Vinegar on the table was not the usual watery one you encounter, so everything was enjoyable. The take-away counter was constantly busy even after the peak lunch time: sure sign of good chippy.
We were planning to have dinner later at Pomegranate on George Street, but we were so full after this meal, we had to cancel our reservation. read more
