I saw that there was a sign on the door saying their reception doesn't start until 9am, their sign was inside and there was no one at reception. No one answered or came out when I rang the buzzer so I left. I assumed they had closed because of the snow. The appointment reminder email I received had no information about reception starting at 9am. The email did said don't show up more than 5 minutes before your appointment but then someone should open the door. I couldn't go back because I had gotten a ride there and didn't have time to wait around for someone to maybe open the door because the person dropping me off had somewhere to be. I called within 10 minutes and got charged a no-show fee even though I was there, just no one opened the door. I'm not waiting around in the snow for a business that should be open to open the door for me when they look closed and empty, especially if I had booked an appointment well in advance. The receptionist said, "It's JUST $30 plus GST." That's still money and your staff may have lost money but so did I - I had to take extra time off work and waste time commuting. Perhaps consider staffing the office appropriately at appointment times instead of making clients pay the price of your ineptitude. Take responsibility for your mistakes and poor planning.

The receptionist proposed a rescheduled date, but it didn't work for my partner. Rather than try to find a solution that would work, she opted to forego any attempt at customer service and simply said "there is nothing we can do." When my partner again tried to find a reasonable solution, the receptionist lacked the training or ability to deal with situation in a mature way, and chose to hang up mid-call. To call such action unprofessional would be an understatement. The reason to cancel the appoint is totally understandable, but a qualified receptionist with even the most basic customer service skills would attempt to come up with a feasible alternative to suit the customer, especially since there would have been an $80+GST cancelling fee if my partner would have been the one who had cancelled. Any professional organization that has high standards for their customers should also have high standards for themselves, but sadly, those standards seemed nonexistent. So one star for the unprofessional customer service, and hopefully the staff will receive the basic training required to engage with customers in a professional manner in the future. I have a coming appointment on 18th, hopefully they won't cancel it before the last minute. I will leave another comment after that. ---------------------------------------------------- Dec.17 update Yesterday I confirmed my booking politely through the phone, and this morning I also received the confirmation email. However, I received the cancellation email later afternoon, 24 hours before the appointment. I was expecting they may prove themselves by providing great service this time. But in fact, they just proved how unprofessional they are instead AGAIN.

Then she started my treatment with deep pressure points that was the best part of my treatment and then use the needles. I never had an acupuncture that takes time to really understand your body and never rush the treatment like Joanne. I felt really good instantly after and have booked her again and again. I highly recommend Joanne for your acupuncture needs!

On my FB feed, I kept getting ads for whole body massages and foot reflexology places. (I am always…read morelooking into these things as I am falling apart! lol. But I also am on a budget so I can't be indulging in these things if they're: 1. too pricey; or, 2. not highly rated). One such ad was for foot reflexology/massage at Leaf, and they noted they are having a "senior's special" if you're over 60. Hey, that's me! I can afford this, and the Yelp reviews are good, so I'm in! I liked how you can book online, and how you get an email confirmation immediately, and the day before a text reminder. Nice. The text reminder noted that there were 6 parking spots free behind the building. Bonus! I went today. Good thing I gave myself extra time to get there, as there was construction on the side street on 33rd, and the alley behind the building was narrow to navigate. Furthermore, there were no signs, where the free parking was, and the area directly behind the Leaf office was cordoned off with signs and tape ("closed for construction"). I circled the block multiple times before snagging a few 2-hour spot on Quebec between 32nd and 33rd. (Note: I later learned the 6 free parking spots behind the building are actually behind the adjacent blue building. When I had been in the alley and saw the blue building read lot, it was totally full, so I couldn't have parked there anyhow). If you come here, there's ample 1-hour spots on Main in front, and many free 2-hour sports on Quebec where I parked, FYI. Entering the place, I was immediately impressed with how clean and quiet it was, with soft classical music playing and a lot of greenery and plants. I was immediately greeted by a friendly lady who asked if I wanted water, and a nice man behind the front counter. I was escorted to a chair and asked if I wanted the tv on (no thanks! I'm here to relax and disconnect from the world for an hour). The lady was so genuinely nice. I later found out she was Jing Wang, the woman who would do my reflexology. Bummer that the wifi didn't work for me. I tried twice to connect, making sure I input the correct code that was posted but both times I got an "incorrect password" message. Oh well, I was here to disconnect, so perhaps it was a blessing in disguise. My session was wonderful and I felt like a new person. Seriously, I don't have money to burn, but this was totally worth it. Even my headache disappeared. I plan on returning later this month for another reflexology session with Jing. Worth it!

The plants in the lobby immediately add a sense of calm to the space along with the music. I had an RMT massage for 60mins and it was awesome! The RMT was super knowledgeable and knew exactly what points to work on and applied great pressure. The reason for the four star and not the five is due to the room in which the massage is in. It isn't very soundproof so as you're getting your massage you can hear customers come through the front door and speak with reception which starts to lose that spa/total relaxation atmosphere. I already booked my next massage though and am happy to go back!

This place is not your local spa, it's what people call a "deep tissue message" that is targeted at healing chronic pain caused by muscular adhesions and inflammation (I've researched this as I have tennis elbow). Yes you will get bruising and swelling and it will hurt, especially if you're older like me and has had chronic back and elbow pain for years now. I live in Toronto, and every time I visit my niece in Vancouver I got there with her. Communication is slightly difficult with some of the staff, but i've been getting massages from Monica since I started going there and they were able to treat where I wanted them to. You just gotta tell the front desk and they will convey the message to their therapists. Last time I went they changed their lineups, and that was in March. Talk to the front desk and they will give you therapist recommendations. What i've found is the initial couple sessions will hurt like hell, but you will feel a lot better afterwards. As you continue to treat the affected area, the pain will lessen, and it almost becomes addicting to feel your back and elbows relieved. Price is also fair, especially considering the COVID has caused everything to increase in price. A standard foot massage was only $65 for an hour, a pretty good deal compared to some of the spas out there.
