I went to see Juliette for some foot, neck, and back pain I'd been having. From the moment I stepped into our appointment, I felt very grounded. She has a firm but relaxing touch, and I left the appointment feeling like I was really processing some things. The best part? About a week later, with some light exercise, those trapped muscles relaxed and most of my pain subsided. It's a great experience, and recommended to anyone looking for exceptional care. read more

Juliette is a highly skilled massage therapist. The ambiance of her studio is calming and cozy, with soft music. She goes right to the areas that need attention, applying just the right amount of pressure to really give you a workout yet not overwhelm you. I floated out of there and felt like a new person! read more

After my first appointment with Juliette the pain in my lower back that I've been experiencing for up to a year has resolved. With Juliette I didn't experience the sensitivity of my nerves that I typically do with other masseuses, and she was able to locate and work on the source of my pain. Her studio is charming and in location that is easy to park. I did have a little trouble finding the location on the Google map app, but Juliette was quick to respond and get me to her studio with ease right away when I called. I'd love to work with Juliette again and would definitely recommend her! read more

Juliette was amazing. Finding someone who knew how to go deep with my neck issues was hard to find. She knows all the right places to work on. She understands how the body is put together. Perfect amount of pressure and it was a wonderful experience overall. She's very focused and her office was clean and comfortable. I highly recommend. read more

Juliette was amazing! The care and quality she provides is outstanding, listening to your needs and making sure you are comfortable. Such a lovely space where you can relax and let go of stress and tension with the massage she provides. Very knowledgeable and explains how certain techniques work and how it can be beneficial. Would definitely recommend booking an appointment! I will be a future client for sure! read more

I saw Juliette in Richmond (where she's been since the pandemic) today for the first time in a while, and just have to say: HEAVEN! Juliette is a wizard massage therapist, and a beautiful person. 10 stars for Life Balance Massage. My body feels so much better, and I feel relaxed and well after a stressful few days. Thank you Juliette! :) read more

A massage with Juliette is ALWAYS a 5-star experience. She keeps my body in much better shape than it would otherwise be. She gives a great full body massage, but is also willing to focus on body parts and areas that need special attention. She is very strong and very thoughtful. And what a sweet massage space behind her home in Richmond. A top-notch experience every time. read more

I needed massage therapy for the neck and shoulder pain I developed from all the virtual meetings in front of a computer. Juliette honed in expertly on the problem areas. Her hands are firm but gentle with just the right amount of pressure. The massage was amazing and helped break the pain cycle. She is very professional and warm. Her studio is in her backyard. The space is clean , modern and calming. Her fees are reasonable. Having had many different kinds of massages in the past, this was very best. I think I have found my massage therapist for life! read more

Juliette is the best massage therapist I have seen in decades. I used to think that pain was a necessary component to "digging in deep" on tension, but she can get a lot more done without causing my body to freak out in any way. Going to her has been a crucial part of my recovery from shoulder injury. The world needs more like her! read more

Juliette will provide you with the best massage to meet you needs. She will follow your words but also follow her touch to apply just the right amount of pressure where you need it most, and relax you at the same time. Her studio in Richmond is sunny, warm and comforting. I have a long and varied experience with body work being a 74-year old athlete and recommend her over anyone else in the East Bay. read more

I had a wonderful and healing massage experience with Juliette a few weeks ago. I am in my third trimester and have been feeling normal aches and pains associated with pregnancy along with my chronic headaches. I sent Juliette a note listing all of my concerns and she addressed them promptly. The massage was highly skilled with the perfect pressure (as I had described my preference in my intake with Juliette.) The environment provided was very zen, clean and comfortable. I would highly recommend Life Balance Massage to anyone on the market for a new masseuse or anyone in need of a massage. read more

I went looking for a massage therapist that helps with "tech neck" since I work long hours as a developer. Juliette has been a real lifesaver! Her neck massage is incredible, and she does a fantastic job of tailoring to your needs & pains. She has also been really helpful in figuring out my aftercare needs following the massage. Highly recommend if you're dealing with neck stiffness due to working a desk job! read more

Juliette was fantastic! I splurged on a nice massage over the holidays and it was so worth it. Juliette found all my trouble spots and took her time working through them. I left in less pain and feeling very relaxed. I will definitely be back if I can fit in an appointment during a workday; her hours are limited. read more

I had a wonderful massage with Juliette. I went in for stress relief and she took a big layer of stress off. I am sleeping much better and am more relaxed in general. Her studio is healing, COVID safe and private. Her neighborhood is quiet, friendly and safe. Rose read more

Juliette is a skilled and strong masseuse in addition to being delightful and easy to work with. I highly recommend her!

I've been going to Juliette several years now for monthly massages, so this review is well overdue! Juliette is by far the best massage therapist I've worked with. She checks in with her clients and listens to their needs and tailors each massage. No two massages are ever the same and she has a natural intuition for using just the right amount of pressure and finding the knots and crunchy spots that need extra work. I always feel great leaving Juliette's massages and consider them vital for my self-care and well-being. Not to mention that Juliette is so nice and accommodating if you need to skip a week or reschedule. I highly recommend Juliette and will be sticking with her as a regular. read more

Just had my second massage with Juliette and it was great! She applies the perfect amount of pressure for both a relaxing and therapeutic massage. It's been difficult for me to find a massage therapist that can do both. It's always been too much pressure or not enough, but Juliette applies the perfect amount of pressure. I look forward to my next massage! read more

Life Balance to the rescue - again!! A couple of months ago the dude pulled a muscle in his neck and couldn't turn it at all. We did a late Friday night search to see who was open Saturdays. He got in with an appointment with Bailey and left with some range of motion and much less pain. Fast forward to today, I went to bed and woke up with a killer migraine and horrible back pain. Called Life Balance and they got me in this afternoon. I left with a relaxed body and subdued pain. Juliette was great, super professional and knowledgeable. I can't recommend her and her colleagues more highly. read more

This was an incredibly relaxing and deeply restorative experience. Juliette is incredible at what she does. Thank you for your deep presence and care read more

Great massage, very nice environment. Wonderful experience. Felt terrific afterwards.

It's unfortunate that there are a couple of negative reviews on Yelp about Em. I have a different perspective in that I have gotten massages with Em a few times now, and all of them have felt centering, healing, and uplifting. Working with her has brought much relief to the muscles in my shoulders and legs. She has been consistently attentive and aware of pressure levels, and has offered solid insight about muscle groups in an accessible way. Ultimately my experience has been a highly positive one. Relaxing into the massage has been particularly easy due to Em's skills as a practitioner and what I perceive to be her grounded, warm, and welcoming way of being. read more

I've seen Juliette several times for deep tissue massage and can't recommend her highly enough! She is a skilled massage therapist, who excels at therapeutic deep tissue technique that actually feels good. The first time I had a massage at life balance, I have been struggling to fix a chronic shoulder issue for six months with physical therapy and yoga. It went away after my first massage with Juliette. read more

Excellent, relaxing massage! The tension just melted away. Very pleasant surroundings. Highly recommend

Juliette is incredible. I asked for a deep and healing massage, and OH MAN! did I get just what I needed. I was completely relaxed for the remainder of the day. The next day joints were moving that have been stuck for ages. I have already booked a follow up and plan to go as frequently as I can. She is just the best. read more

Had a really great 1 hour session with Juliette in December. My left shoulder was bothering me from the stress of holidays, and just general tension. She really listened to me and focused on the massage to the needed area. After the session, I felt like so much weight was lifted from me. Thanks, Juliette! I'm looking forward to the next session. read more

I am a former massage therapist, and am extremely picky when it comes to receiving massage. I've been seeing Juliette regularly for the better part of a year, and there's good reasons I keep going back. Normally, I go in with specific problems (stiff shoulders, issues with my forearms, etc.) and she gets right to the meat of the matter (as it were) and sends me on my way. Juliette knows her stuff when it comes to anatomy, and has great technique for increasing range of motion and fluidity - all the stuff a good massage therapist should know. But tonight I walked in a giant ball of anxiety and told her I just needed a little TLC. I blissed my way out of there 90 minutes later feeling absolutely amazing and so cared for. I love that she can do it all! Other things I like: - She's chosen a great location, on Piedmont Ave. but just removed from the bustle. The office plaza feels peaceful and lovely. - Her office and demeanor is pleasant and professional; she strikes just the right balance between "cold and clinical" and "hippie dippy crazy." Her office even smells good - not like rancid oil like some other therapists I've seen. And I love that she's totally willing to hold conversations during sessions - or not, depending on where I'm at. - Online scheduling! Why doesn't everyone do this?! I haven't seen the other therapists that Juliette has working for her, but if Juliette's skill and passion for massage therapy is any indication, her staff is likely to be top-notch as well. Go see the folks at Life Balance. You won't regret a moment! read more

My wife and I had an appointment with Em this morning. At the beginning I told her my points of tension were in my upper back/shoulder and lower back/hamstring area, so I was looking for some pressure to help release those areas. She had a soft touch to warm up the body, but it didn't seem to move beyond that even when I communicated to her that I could use more pressure. She seemed to dismiss my request, insisting that she just gently wanted to open things up. I kept thinking throughout the massage that maybe she would apply pressure later on, but that didn't happen. Her brief time spent on my hamstrings was nice, but it also didn't leave me feeling like it had released enough tension. I thought that it might have been a communication thing, so I told my wife (who had the appointment after me) to be specific about the amount of pressure she was looking for. She came out and it was the same story. It didn't seem like Em was receptive to our needs and we are a little disappointed. We left the place without the feeling of relief that we were looking for. We are also annoyed that it didn't seem like she was listening to our needs. It was a lot of money to spend to leave without the relief that we were seeking. I'd like to note that we've had other great massages at Life Balance, and we know what we're looking for in a massage. So if you're looking for a softer touch, maybe Em is your person, but she didn't work out for us. read more

Tiffany was great! She understands a moms body and the tension with carrying a baby. Incredibly knowledgeable and gave me advice on what stretches to do at home. Would absolutely come back. read more

I woke up this morning with my right shoulder in my ear. I couldn't turn my head, and I was miserable. Massage emergency! Fortunately, an appointment was available at Life Balance. Bailey chatted with me for a bit to find out exactly what was going on, and then I settled into the massage space. It's a pleasant, friendly-feeling place, very quiet. She went to work on my poor neck and shoulder, and by the end of the hour I was feeling MUCH better. She took the time after the hour massage to show me a diagram of exactly what muscle was wound up, and to teach me a stretch that I could do at home. Bailey was knowledgeable and professional. She found what hurt and made it better, and I left relaxed and much, much happier. Brava! Thank you!!! read more

Two things of note. First, I had a massage with Heather, who was superb. Strong hands, good motions, and very responsive. She asked what troubled me, and then worked intensely in those areas. And, she was also less intense when I asked for sore spots. It was both strong and relaxing. I will return. Second, I had a gift certificate from almost a year ago (that a friend gave me and doesn't expire). [Not that I recommend waiting so long for a massage.] I always worry how gift certificates will be received. But no worries. It was the least stressful interaction ever. read more

I've been meaning to write this review sooner but haven't gotten around to it till now! I've been getting massages from Juliette for almost a year now. You can always count on her in giving you a nice, relaxing, but strong massage. She always listens to your specific concerns at the beginning of the visit, and addresses them during the therapy session. She also does prenatal massages, which is great because I am now 7 months pregnant and I don't know how I would be able to get through the backaches of pregnancy without her! The facility is very clean and nice. There's never been a problem with noise or interruptions for me. I always try to get there at least 15 minutes early because parking could be hard around the area. Juliette also doesn't work every day so I would try to schedule for an appointment at least 1 week in advance. read more

Great session with Em! She took the knots out of my back and shoulders and I left much happier than when I arrived. The pressure was great and she seemed very knowledgeable and accommodating. Will definitely treat my back to this again. read more

Went in a while back and had a really good massage by Miri! I didn't go in expecting a relaxing massage (I wanted a deep tissue massage for my aching shoulders and back), but she delivered both. Such magic she does! I'm so happy to have found you guys. I plan on getting another deep massage in the future! Thanks Miri! Btw, parking is a bit iffy. Try to get there a good 10 minutes earlier so that you can find a spot (I would even say 15 mins to be safe). It'll be worth it! read more
