Probably the worst experience I have ever had from a "Mexican Restaurant" you can go to any Taco Shop and get better quality and more consistent food. I ended up getting my order to go, spending 49$ for the family to eat. Carve asada quesadilla looks good u til I flipped it over and saw what the "chef" covered up knowing he burned it, ordered a carne asada chimichanga and when I cut into it I was grossed out by finding raw shredded beef. So disgusting!!! Jalapeño poppers looked gross didn't even touch them, not sure what all the white is from but that's nasty. Don't come here! Did a grubhub... Ordered 2 Carne asada street tacos and surf n turf fries that were not of description. Surf n turf fries had soggy hot cheetos and nacho cheese? Description did not have that in them and was appalled to not be able to taste the actual Mexican cheeTaco. Not to mention, the fries were also even soggier drowning among the others. We were in the Temecula Wine Country, and had a Synergy Restaurant Gift Card, from Costco. Lienzo Charro is on their list, so we decided to try it out, thinking it was in Old Town, Temecula. We were a party of 4, including 2 friends, visinting from Florida. The restaurant is located, just south of Old Town, Temecula, but not far at all. It was not crowded, probably because it isn't in the heart of Old Town. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The margaritas were quite good. We had Fajitas, both chicken, and the combo of chicken/steak. Both were excellent, and plentiful. The salsa was excellent, as well. It's just a damned shame, that this place isn't packed full of peeps. It should be. It is spacious, and has room for a ton of people, and private parties. We will be back, for sure, and intend to try their Saturday and Sunday brunch, for about $23. Seriously, folks, try this place out. There is loads of parking, too. First time here. Classic style interior. I had the beef taco and beef burrito combination that came with beans and rice. The burrito came wet but was full of shredded beef, no fillers. The taco was crispy and delicious. Nice rice and beans. Comes with complimentary chips and salsa and the price was reasonable and portion size generous. The salsa looks fantastic but lacks any real flavor...or spice. I have tried a few different things...Chile Verde plate, Beef Chimichanga plate & a combo plate consisting of an enchilada & beef taco. Aside from fairly decent Chile Verde, nothing had any amount of flavor! Everything tasted the same & was very bland. My recommendation is to try Lupe's, El Ranchito, Taco! I'd never been to Lienzo Charro before so had no idea what to expect when I walked in for lunch today. I didn't want a huge meal so I ordered a single cheese enchilada, a soda, and a small order of guacamole to go with the big basket of chips the waiter brought. The enchilada turned out to be huge, covered liberally with a very tasty red sauce, and was absolutely delicious! It was also very filling so I ate half and decided the other half could easily be dinner. The small guacamole I ordered was larger than expected and was the BEST guacamole I've had in ages!! I ate far too many chips as a result! The soda I ordered was huge as well (think there's only one size for everything here: BIG!) The whole meal was delightful and (a) the leftovers will serve as my dinner tonight, and (b) I'll definitely be back to eat here the next time I'm in Poway!! read more

We had relatives in from Norway who really wanted to try authentic Mexican food. Called in a reservation for 9 people in the morning. The man I spoke to said he had another big table but he would try his best. Took our name and number. We show up at our reservation time and walk into a packed restaurant. I told the waitress about our reservation and she said "oh we don't take reservations on the weekends because it gets so busy." Why didn't the manager who answered the phone say this? I got greeted right when I walked into the restaurant. The young employee was very friendly and welcoming, even helped me pick out 7 plates so I could try a little bit of everything . My family was very content with all the food I brought home ; mind you I live 20-30 mins away from the restaurant. Wow!!! I've lived in Poway for over 30 years and have never had Lienzo Charro before. Never because I had heard of a bad experience, but just because my family always had our go-to place for dine-in Mexican cuisine and I never deviated from that. My wife and I recently had a pretty bad meal from our usual Mexican food go-to place and it made us want to try something different. Tonight we ordered food from Lienzo Charro for delivery and we both got something different from what we'd normally get. Not only was the food prepared and picked up quickly, but it was still piping hot when it came to our doorstep. The enchilada suizas I ordered were amazing and my wife was very happy with the street tacos she got. Not only was the main course good, but it also came with a gratuitous amount of chips and salsa on the side without me having to request it. I think it's safe to say that Lienzo Charro will be our go-to Poway Mexican food place moving forward! I'm really excited for things to return to normalcy, so we can check it out in person one day! What a great place! My honey and I came here after a not too cool experience down the way. As soon as we walked in we were greeted and seated with salsa and chips to boot. The service remained a 10/10 the whole visit. We splurged a little as we wanted to try a few items on the menu. We started with the very delicious jalapeño poppers and some chicken flautas. Both came out fresh, flavorful and hot. My honey had a peach margarita which he loved and I can confirm it was delicious! Finally made it in. We stopped in for breakfast. It was great! We could not believe the huge breakfast menu. There is something for everyone. We will be back. There is even a kids menu. I left off 1 star for two reasons... ambiance is a little outdated and the coffee is not great for the price. However, if they improved the ambiance the food prices wouldn't be so reasonable, but there is no reason they couldn't have better coffee. Checked on us many times. Restaurant: Set up nice. Ate inside by the front window. Plenty of room but not huge inside. Parking was terrible with only about 10 spots in front. Parked way in the back and walked. Not complaining, it was nice to talk after stuffing my face. Food: Ordered the 7 Mares, shrimp cocktail, bean and cheese burrito, chili relleno, and chicken burro, which ended up being a burrito. Food was eh. Shrimp cocktail was amazing! Sweet and spicy but could have used a little more avocado. Chips and salsa was good. Refried beans were tasty. Everything after that was just bland. Rice wasn't great, seafood wasn't great kinda old tasting, chili relleno was not anything special. I am sure if I got the typical carne asada or chimichanga it would have been a better meal. Lienzo Charro is a "go to" place to eat. You must try the sauce (gravy like) they put on the omelet. It has a wonderful forgiving flavor. It is not dpicy but sooo yummy. I was early for an appt in Poway so I roamed around a little and found this Mexican restaurant. I have been very wary because I just have not found really good Mexican food in North County. So I trepidaciously went in to Lienza Charro ("rodeo") and ordered a bean and cheese burrito to go. It was faaaab! There was a very young guy cooking in the kitchen, and I could see his face over the counter. He was very concentrated and looked very serious. The burrito was covered in a light green sauce and smothered in melted cheese. The beans were tasty and well cooked. The tortilla sort of melted into everything else. What more can you ask?
