It's been a long time since I've stopped at the store at this location and it's really worth going to Lidl if you're in the vicinity of one, or going out of your way. I prefer wild caught seafood and they have shrimp and scallops and they sell sockeye salmon and the prices are extremely affordable. They have great selections of produce as well as everything else that you might need and the prices are just right. I wish they had a place closer by me, but I'm happy I was able to stop here today. read more

This is a great place to shop. Prices are really good . The store is very clean every time I have been In there. The workers are really nice and helpful . The bakery items are really good, and there's a nice selection. This is similar to Aldi with a fun random cool things you need to buy aisle in the middle of the store - don't miss this that stuff is awesome . I really really wish we had these stores on the West Coast where I am most of the time. There may be some items on your list that you do t find here but I'm betting you find some new favorite things . read more

Horrible store. Tried it 4 times. One cashier checkout open. 6 to 12 people in line. 2 to 3 with full carts. Self checkout always closed. Employee told me they don't want to pay someone to stand there. read more

I might be one of the few who had not been to a Lidl store. Two days ago I visited the Lidl store in Sanford. This place has great produce and a wide variety of grocery things you need at great prices. Wide isles and clean. Staff is very helpful. If you have your own shopping bag, be sure to take it. Otherwise a large handled shopping bag is $0.07. I will go back often. You should try it, you will like it! read more

Super excited to have a Lidl in Sanford. They offer some selections that are hard to find in North Carolina, let alone, Sanford! Their bakery is awesome and the chocolate croissants are killer! They have an excellent selection of cheeses as well. Hard to find cheeses like Halloumi are available and at affordable prices. Great selection of beer and wine. The pre-made entrees are great for an easy dinner. I have had the cheese and green chili enchiladas and loved them! There are some random household items in the middle of the store, like cookware items and beach towels which seem a bit out of place, but whatever. The staff is very friendly. You need to bring your own bags, or you have to purchase some. Paper bags are $0.06. My only complaint is the location of the restrooms. They are right next to the bakery and people will just stand outside of the restroom talking and block the cookie section. It has happened every time I have gone. on March 9th, my wife & I were shopping at the Sanford, Lidl store, as we frequently do. We were in the checkout lane when I was overcome with a severe case of dizziness to the point where I could barely remain on my feet. It was frightening. I believe 4 male employees came to my immediate assistance....one went to get one of the wheelchairs available for shoppers to use and the others helped to keep me on my feet. One young man in particular wrapped his arms around me to keep me from falling and kept saying to me "I got you sir, believe me, I got you ' i wish i had gotten his name. They got me outside and safely inside my car and the dizzy spell passed. I am fine but I will never forget their kindness in helping a senior citizen in trouble.....Thanx LIDL read more

I grew up in Germany and was really excited to hear that Lidl was coming to North Carolina. Lidl is different from Aldi when comparing German grocery chains and I was really impressed with the new location in Sanford. The grand opening was on June 15th and I went to check it out on the 16th at night. The hours are 8am to 9pm and even at 7pm at night, the shelves and fruits and vegetables and bakery were all stocked. The store is very clean and new and their trademark slogan is "rethink Grocery". As soon as you enter Lidl, you will see the fresh bakery items such as broetchen, pretzels, French bread, American donuts, and other bakery items on display behind plastic doors. You open the door, pick you item and then punch in the 4-digit code and quantity to get a sticker price to put on the bag or box. The fruits and vegetables were fresh and the prices are just great. Lidl has a fantastic meat and cheese section with Parma from Italy and cheeses from all over the world. They mark their items with country flags too so you can see where the goodies originate. The middle section has more household items and clothing. They also sell beer and wine and I noticed that they will sell IPA from Foothills without the brand name for $2 less. The production address is the same as Foothills so it is Foothills beer yet the name is something crafty and the price is $2 less. The cashiers were all super-friendly and they bag your groceries for you. You are encouraged to bring reusable bags or purchase bags. The cart also goes by the quarter system to keep them from hitting cars in the parking lot. I love Lidl and thank you for coming to NC. I can't wait for the Raleigh location to open later this year. read more

The store was crowded but the isles are very big to accommodate everyone. Big variety of fruits and vegetable. The prices were great, some lots less than Food Lion and Wal-Mart. Fresh baked bread and pastries. Plenty of different beers and a huge wine selection!!! I would drive the half hour to go back. read more

I wanted to attend the Grand Opening but had other commitments. We went today, very crowded as expected. We were very disappointed, the only difference between Lidl and Aldi is the bakery. Saw a few things, very large wine section. We thought there would be a nice selection of German products. We live about 30 miles away, we will not be making another trip to Lidl. read more

I always look to the different products especially items typically not found elsewhere. However not only did I notice several bins and shelves void of product but some commonly found items were actually higher than Walmart's. Hmmm read more

Bakery! Imported dough pieces (Teiglinge) from Germany and baked in the shop each day. Local products as well as imported goods from various countries. Several German products but those aren't clearly marked so for the folks that complain about that just take a look the fine print on the back. Facial wipes, beer, cheese, candy etc. read more

Sweet! I love the rolls, German chocolates, wines and all the special one time deals they offer. You don't even need a quarter for your cart. Slicing your own bread needs some getting used to but there was friendly help available. read more

I use to think this was a great store, for the variety was wonderful and the quality was also good. However, to what avail are such if they advertise specials for items that are not available. For months now I have tried to shop their store for items that not only are gone within the week they are listed but are entirely out of stock before the day they go on special. They will not give rain checks and actually told me I should call ahead to see if items are available. In other words I am to call the day they run their specials and go over my grocery list to make sure they have what I need . This is not a third world. Again, do they not know how to predict supply and demand like most retailers? This is a poorly run grocery! read more

I love you Lidl , but today was a bad experience. I wanted to let you know so you could fix the problem, I shop there once a week and always grab a few mini pizzas from your bakery and they are always good. Today I bought 5 and when the family went to eat them all were raw very doughy in the middle, I told them not to eat it and trashed them , I am sure you would have replaced them if I brought them back to the store but I live on the other side of Sanford near Pittsboro so big pain in the neck to drive all the way back. The prices are awesome, the selection is very good. Mostly private brand items, but we shop their weekly and have not been disappointed. Store is very clean, love the produce prices. The run regular sales that make some items dirt cheap. My only complaint would be that they often run out sale items, but who can blame them.... the prices are THAT low! read more

Since I am German I was exited that a Lidl was opened 15 min from me in Sanford, NC. I just visited the store and got even more exited to see a big "hallo" sign outside. Right by the entrance was the bakery, and right away the "Berliner" caught my eye. Now I really was exited. I saw German bread and some other German baking goodies.Yet no "Dampfnudeln" . So I continued around the store, and got disappointed that there is no German food! Not even German chocolate or "milchschnitte"! No bratwurst,Schnitzel,knödel... no German spices either such as Maggi or fondor. The list goes on. I hope in the future Lidl WILL get German foods! read more
