Choosing a school for your child is especially important when it's their first time and parents have a right to know what culture exists at St Albans. The school should just be transparent and tell parents up front, that they only want one type of child there and if yours doesn't fit that mold, then they will ask them to leave the school. Our 4 year old got accepted into their PreK program and right before school was due to start, the teacher quit. The replacement teacher was implemented and within 3 weeks of school starting, the problems began. The PreK teacher started sending us these crazy emails that were a formatted play by play and by the minute, of every interaction our child had that day. They made the most normal behaviors of a 4 year old seem as though they were symptoms of a larger problem. They tried to make it sound like our son had a problem keeping still, which may have been the case but given it was only a few weeks into the start of PreK, what else would one expect from a child just starting school for the first time. And that's not even considering children growing up in a society that was locked down for years. Her verbal comments along with the emails continued and made it seem as if our son had some form of Autism, as the teacher even suggested may be the case. She also said he might have hearing problems and that he doesn't know words... I mean the most ridiculous of accusations I've ever heard. We were left dumbfounded, none of what they were accusing him of was true. Our son went to school counting to 100, He knew the entire alphabet and could write it in both capital letters and lower case. He could spell and write his first and last name as well as say his address. Apart from him struggling to keep still at times (and we don't even really know how much of an issue this actually was versus them making it seem worse), he was not a problem child. We have had parents say they are so happy our Son was in the class because he had helped their children feel welcomed, as they were extremely shy and he isn't. We had numerous meetings with the teacher and the Principal, who reassured us the emails were indeed too much and would stop but nothing actually was resolved. They had made up their mind from the first month that they wanted out son gone. The off colored comments as well as the play by play emails continued. All of this happened over a span of approximately 8 -9 weeks from school starting. I just want to be clear, he never did anything to any other students and was never accused of such. We are talking about a 4 year old sitting still and paying attention in class with a teacher who seems unhappy to be there and struggled to control her class, despite having 2 aids there to help. We eventually found out, that many other PreK parents were having the exact same experience. There was one parent who had their 4 year old kicked out a week before we were told to leave, because "their kid was not suited for this school and couldn't sit still". We realized that it wasn't really our child who was the problem, it was the culture of the school. Although they say they never kick out kids from PreK, they do and did. Plus there are reviews out there going back to 2018 of this exact same thing happening. We were told by parents who volunteered at the class, that our child was absolutely fine, he was not being disruptive or problematic and did pay attention. After receiving the last harassing email, we had, had enough and confronted the school about it. But instead of addressing the issue, they told us to remove our child and gave us 3 weeks notice. This came at the worst possible time, to try and find a new school and enroll him right before thanksgiving! So if you are looking at enrolling your children at St.Albans then be warned. Be prepared knowing that your child might be kicked out if in the first weeks of attending, they do not sit completely still. Even if the teacher is clearly checked out and doesn't want to be there, your kids will be the ones that pay the price. They will make it seem like your child has a number of issues and is incapable of being in this environment, that they need 1 on 1 instruction which they can't provide, or something similar. You guys need to know what's really going on at this school, before you start paying $15k a year for the privilege. I wish this review could be different, I really which we could sing the schools praises but we can't. We really do not want to be in this situation and our son is going to be really hurt, having to be taken from the first set of friends he ever made. Horrible experience and I feel bad for the poor parents and children who have had to go through this like us.

They also built a new library sometime in my junior year. Both places were pretty nice. I loved all of my teachers (I was in Special Ed, but I took some General Ed classes)! The staff there were also very friendly as well. The reason I chose this school was because my old friends wanted to go there, but I made new friends there too. My absolute favorite teachers were Mrs. Lorge, Mr. Kaul, and Ms. Uno. Sadly, the latter two retired after I graduated, but they were very awesome! I enjoyed spending my four years at this school.

I think this overall school gets a bad wrap because of its location and age, but for me that character is what makes it unique. I honestly feel that this school is very kid/family oriented and I know several parents from other schools feel the same way. Just as an example sporting events and pretty much all but especially football and basketball you will find pretty much a packed house. In a lot of cases their kids don't even play the sport, but it's much more about supporting the event or a friend/family playing. I know this happens at other schools as well but nothing that I have felt. Another example is how many people travel all over the surrounding areas to attend these same sporting events. I have been at an away game where RHS has more people attending than the opponent. That to me shows awesome school spirit, support and Tiger Pride! Everyone always asks me about this school and what it's like and again because of its wrap. I always have the same answer. It's what you put into it. All of my kids have excelled from here with one just graduating Sac State and another still attending. All of them have gotten involved in various activities like soccer, cheer, Avid and yearbook. This is the key to me to your success not only here but in life. You have to add value and not just be a taker. At some point when you just take eventually the tank runs out and you blame other things or circumstances and not the person in the mirror. Last point...have every single teacher been 100% and do I agree with everything about their teaching methods? No and again this is also a part of life. You are not going to see eye to eye with everyone, but overall for the most part everyone working here is committed to your kids and the school counselors are terrific. So I can say for my kids and myself "Once a Tiger always a Tiger"....

I attended the school about 18 years ago and boy or boy did I love it. Now just like your favorite…read morehidden coffee shop or sandwich shop - 'if you know you know' and that's probably why the school is so great - because there aren't tons of kids from outside areas trying to sneak in and instead it stays "local" and enjoyable with the same group of kids that reflects the benefits of a society focused on morals and integrity. Sure there's always a few of "those kids" with extra means and the fancy cars given to them by parents with no quality time to spend but the same can be found at any school the only difference here is that those kids tend not to cause trouble but rather are more interested in a "good time" and after all who isn't. Besides if you have integrity you won't be persuaded regardless of what school you attend. Thank your parents for that. Enough about all that, what's important is the positive attitude found with the staff and overall with the students. More so than most schools nearby. Front desk here is helpful , upper staff is helpful and kind. I came from another school to here at my junior year and I was very impressed with the abilities of the teachers to teach outside the standard outlines and expand our attention ie home Eco / fish and wildlife / English with siturude / video production!!! My favorite - all made you appreciate being in a seemingly top tier school. So I'd give this school experience an A+ coming from a shy kid to start and ending as a confident student at the end. Happy to take on the world. Ps if you're a parent of a kid like the review below mine - maybe stop having a victim mentality so your kids don't go around being a 1 star kind of person everywhere they go aka modern woke society - go woke go broke. Happy I didn't have that going on in my household growing up.
