I was in the middle of a busy work day when I received "that call" - the one where the school calls to say that your child has to be picked up immediately because lice was detected in their beautiful hair! I've never written a poor review. But I feel compelled to share our experience, in hopes that you don't make the same mistake we did. Before sharing, I do want to point out that we privately communicated with the company to express our concerns. It took them nearly two weeks to respond and my last correspondence has gone unanswered for another two weeks now. In short, we paid twice the expected cost for family treatment per the website - and it was only our 7-year-old twins with fine, shoulder-length hair that received treatment. We were floored. To be fair, Lice Doctors was fairly quick to schedule a service and the professional that came to our home was pleasant. Our concern is that the service - which is billed hourly - was unnecessarily lengthy. I was told by LD that our treatment required additional time, according to the professional. But I was present during the treatment, and I didn't feel the same. Essentially, this became a "her word versus ours" situation. The professional apparently described the infestation as "severe," but didn't take pictures or offer additional documentation to justify that assessment. I'm left to wonder whether there are adequate safeguards to the customer to prevent unnecessarily lengthy treatments. I spent a lot of effort trying to explain our position, which I thought was reasonable. We didn't expect LD to offer a full credit - or even half credit. We did receive a service. But I think the service was about 2 hours too long. In other words, our issue was pretty narrow. In sum, the experience left us feeling scammed. Adding insult to injury is the time it took LD to acknowledge our concerns, the quick dismissal of our concerns, and the complete silence after my last communication that had follow up questions. My advice? Use the lice shampoo. You'll save yourself 750 bucks. read more

I called this company and spoke to the representative whose name was STEPHANIE. There was a lot of background noise and when I mentioned it to her she said "oh, it's my keyboard." I explained that I could not clearly hear her and we were discussing the price of their service. She assured me that a technician would be available that afternoon. After arranging for her to call my son's home to arrange the tech for that day, he called me to tell me that they did not have a technician at bailable until the following afternoon at 4:00 PM. His credit card has been charged. I called Stephanie back to cancel the appointment. I explained as I was trying to talk to her over the noise once again of the keyboard that I found another company that could accommodate us the same day. This review is related to asking them to check for lice before possibly treating*** We used LiceDoctors in 2021; someone thought they saw a lice egg in my daughter's hair so I panicked. I called LiceDoctors to see if they could send someone to check hair and confirm. There is understandably a fee to pay for the visit, but you pay more if they need to stay longer (ex: checking more heads and finding more cases to take care of). A girl came to our house and took a very quick look at my daughter's hair and immediately said "oh yeah she has lice." I asked to see it. She seemed uncomfortable with this question but tried showing me and I saw nothing. (I had already checked myself and had not seen ANY signs of lice or eggs but figured if it was there, I could be shown). She said they can be so hard to see. I left the room for a minute and came back, and she claimed she had removed some lice eggs. I asked to see them to which she said "they're in the trash, you can dig in there and look if you want." She checked the heads of the rest of the family and claimed another person also had lice. Again, we saw absolutely nothing. In order to do the "treatment" on another person, we naturally paid more money for her extended time in our home. I had to provide paper towels to this person who did not bring enough with her. I also put down a tarp of my own after she recommended it. (You can't come to someone's home with your own plastic dollar store tarp? This isn't something most people have on hand) ----- Anyway...the ending of this story is that a different group of people with lice experience confirmed (for free) there was NO lice on us or in our trash (yep, we looked through it later that day). Additionally, we followed NONE of the protocols for treatment and did NO follow-up treatments that you absolutely must do to rid yourself of lice. And guess what...we had no lice. I assume this can be a useful service IF you have lice and you are too freaked out to remove it yourself (which can easily be done), but I will NEVER use them again to confirm it. I ended up beyond disgusted...ironically, not by bugs, but by the business conduct. I will say they were good sending someone fairly quickly. But come on, if there is no lice, there needs to be integrity and honesty, period. An actual case of lice CAN be easily seen by anyone with eyeballs, this doesn't need to be a case of preying upon people's panicky states of mind to convince them in the moment they are simply not capable of seeing something. So again, just confirm your lice case before considering a removal company. We had the unfortunate need to use Lice Doctors and in general we were pleased with the service and information we received. This is not a fun time for anyone and they made it tolerable and we feel good that the treatment and plan will work. The reason I cannot give more than 2 stars is that there is a ridiculous up charge to purchase the required nit comb ($20) and the lice repellant spray ($18)!!! That's just unfair and bad business to charge us for a comb that we have to use throughout the treatment plan. And the repellent spray bottle top broke after one day. Come on Lice Doctors you can do better than this. We called them after to complain and they offered no solution preferring to "leave it at that". Not good. read more
