My mother's condition had greatly degraded in a very short period of time and as a result, we needed full-time care, until we could move my mom out of her home and into a proper care facility. Kelly was able to provide 24/7 care in less than a days notice. We called other services that cost less, but they did not make us feel confident during initial interactions. We could not find another service that we felt comfortable with leaving a PSW alone with my mom. The PSW's that we met from Kelly's Home Care were excellent and we felt that the extra hourly rate that we had to pay was well worth it. She did not physically assist my aunt getting into the shower (she is 90 years old) and would sit and read a book the rest of the time - not even offering to make my aunt lunch - and anything that was asked of her she ignored. Apparently she was sleeping in the offices of nurse next door and they would lend her money which makes me uncomfortable that she was incapable of looking after herself, never mind a 90 year old lady. It came to a point where my aunt felt she had stolen money out of her purse and thought she would make sure she had a certain amount in her purse the following appointment to see if anything was taken after she left. There was $50 taken from her purse. Upon getting in touch with Nurse Next Door, they decided to reimburse her the money, however, they would no longer send someone to my aunt. Nothing was mentioned regarding firing the caregiver - I am writing this so others are aware they may have this woman caring for their loved ones and this might happen to them.
